Great review. I ordered it while listening you.

With the help of an experienced specialist, I unlocked the RAW stream from the camera and ran GCam (not a limited "Go" version, but a full-featured GCam) on the Titan Slim. The camera becomes A LOT better with it! However, there is a white dots pattern over the photos :( If someone knows, how exactly camera metadata libraries in MTK platforms works, we can collaborate to resolve this issue. There is no source code, so it requires editing ASM instructions in the already compiled libraries. Not an easy task.

I purchased this and felt it was a Toy BlackBerry Key2. Cheap plastic feel. The battery on all the Titans are excellent. Good email device but never a daily driver.

Am I a monster for flipping my Duo into a laptop form and using the bottom screen to type like a real keyboard?

The camera is the weakest part.... but this is the state of keyboard phones like this. Best times these phones sell in the 5000s but that's worldwide at best. Not much we can do except vote with our dollars when there is some product out there and, unlike fxtec, their pipelines are proven to be solid. When Unihertz puts out another phone like this ill be buying in again as its the only phones that I am genuinely excited for.

Using the Titan and Titan Slim, the Titan is still my daily driver with the Titan Slim being a backup. The wider 1:1 aspect ratio means I can more comfortably do my spreadsheets and enable Tablet UI on OneNote. In addition, the 1:1 means I can take pictures while in 1:1. Additionally, the Titan is far FAR easier to disassemble/reassemble without dealing with adhesives such that you can reassemble it and still maintain the water-resistant properties. If I'm thinking long-term usage and building up that muscle memory and utility, it has to be the Titan. The Camera is definitely the weakest part such that you're not going to be vlogging or do any kind of 'photo memories' of your life and family. But as a work-oriented phone in daylight, it gets the job done for say...inventory work as a janitor. Going on 2+ years now and still enjoying the experience, despite having the Titan Slim, and despite the Titan still being on Android 10. The wifi-antenna is definitely on the weaker side (to compare, Titan measures at -68 dB versus the Titan Slim -58 dB on 5 GHz). I do car work too such that i wear gloves and get oil on the phone very easily. I wash it off using soft dishwashing soap and it's back to normal. For a PKB phone, this has FAR greater value than the spec sheet suggests. Also, the home button is not as sensitive as the Titan Slim and would not need to use double-press to avoid accidental presses.

great job explaining the differences in the keys. exactly why I am not giving this device a shot. to me the keyone keys are the gold standard. if you cant come close to that, then its pointless to build a device like this in 2022

I used the KEYone and KEY2 and am using the Titan Slim. Not pointless at all and worth the price I paid. It feels really good to use a physical keyboard for typing on the phone.

I love to type on a phone don't get me wrong, I have the pocket but don't use it as a daily driver just an occasional text. the keyboard (keys) unihertz is making just are not of the quality that tcl made for blackberry.

@@uwgbfella Fair point. It's an acquired taste where the TCL keyboards are easier to and sculpted to allow for sliding the fingers across. The trade off is the lack of tactility that the Titan Pocket and Titan Slim embraces with its aggressive sculpt 8:17. It doesn't help how hyper-sensitive the Home Button is. 15:34 so close to the keys.

Do you think it s worth selling my pixel 6a to get this? I really like my pixel but this phone seems really interesting to me too. I d rather keep both if I can cause I really like this pixel, good camera, cheap, small size, good performance. I m looking forward to a startup phone that will be launched " the minimal phone " maybe review that, it s really cool!

As I can see it has a lot of minuses, but in a way I think it might be good because it might make you to actually spend less time on the phone, or just annoy you, lol

I think finally Microsoft gave up Duo 2. If you go to their website, it says that duo is unavailable instead of out of stock. Also, you cant see the price anymore and you cant see the models

It wouldn't shock me if we never saw another significant restock of Duo 2.

@@scaryifliteral It worked sometimes because you started with S, which you have set to open a search function. When you start with another letter, it performs whatever function that letter is a shortcut for. So if you want something approximating BB10's device search, use S for the shortcut and then start typing whatever you want to search for. So, to search "unihertz", you'd actually type "sunihertz". It's not ideal, but only because Android doesn't do much of what made BBOS and BB10 great.

I have a titan slim. The keyboard is not as good as the key2 because of the weird layout and the selfie cam is not good enough. The lack of sd card slot and no 3.5 mm headphone jack is bad but not deal breakers. Wireless charging and ip68 rating would have been nice as would have 5g and at&t coverage also. I live in mtl and work in french and there is no french spelle check with the kika keyboatd and that stinks. It's a little thick and could be a little taller and wider but all in all i still love this phone more than the S22 no joke. It's an 7/10 if you want the keyboard. The k2 was an 8/10 (bad camera)

Following Apple's lead there I suppose, probably not a good idea since they're the guys who also killed the keyboard. I've yet to use up 256GB after 2 years though, even with lots of videos.

Gotta keep in mind the scale that they sell products at and how that affects margins.

@@scaryifliteral Of course low production volume increases final product price... And one rule to keep in mind for such commenters like above: if you think something is overpriced, go and buy a similar thing for a fair (as you believe) price from competing manufacturers :))

@@scaryifliteral From Kickstarter, 2281 people bought into the Titan Slim. Wish they'd invest more into the specs but reality is cruel to PKB lovers.
