This is incredibly useful for how I use Reaper in a live environment. This has cropped up to bite us when fiddling around with the routing and then clicking in the "wrong" place to get control of the playback view.
There is an action, Options: Toggle smooth seek, which is useful to have on a button if you use it a lot. It's a shame there are no actions to toggle the seek playback settings.
It's amazing how many things I have either struggled with, or wished there were options available to handle, are actually already in Reaper but I just didn't know! Thanks for this video, it solves a lot of frustrations I have been having with playback and editing.
Thanks Kenny for another useful tip. Coming over from Protools, some of the default settings in Reaper really leave me scratching my head and this was one of them. I would edit and make small tweaks in Protools all the time during playback and this is something that’s been very annoying with Reaper. I didn’t even know you could change it. It’s such a simple thing but without your video I’d never even think to look for this. Your video on file organization was another big help and another one you’d think “why isn’t it just set up to default like that?”👍🏻👍🏻
@@MusicByIanLtd That's the problem! With Protools you can't really change anything. Reaper is SO customizable it's hard to get my head around it. I didn't even think to look to see if I could change it. Kenny's videos have been a HUGE help in transitioning over. 👍
Yesterday I found myself hoping that Reaper could implement this exact functionality, while listening to a mix with a client, and session time was nearly up. Perfect timing Kenny, thank you.
I had Reaper set up to do Smooth Seek ages ago, but forgot how I did it. Glad you brought it up again so I can have a nice, smooth uniterrupted playbavk if I want~!
Thank you Kenny....BIG THANKS from me...I am from Kosovo and Reaper it is not so popular in my country ... and I think they are missing a lot from the greatest daw ...and you makes it much bigger!
👍👍👏👏 Hello. Is there any possibility of playing a virtual instrument and that when you press "play" so that a rhythmic base enters, for example, the virtual instrument is not interrupted?
I have always wanted something similar for the MIDI editor. I hate how it seeks to where I put in notes, and it insists on keeping the window on the seeking needle. Anyone know how to free up the MIDI editor in a similar way?
with mouse, that only happens if you insert a note by double click rather than by left drag single left click is bound to moving edit cursor under Mouse modifiers -> MIDI piano roll context and cursor movement is a result of the 1st left click of that double click, so you could decouple the two by adding modifiers
Hi kenny love ur material! I wonder which video is the one where u “print” the click on a track?? I ve seen so many video of yours that that one I missed to put in my favourites!!! Tnx if u can suggest me!
I can't find anything that address my issue. What I'm experiencing is that on playback I get a second of a suddent stop, then continue playing. Is not doing it in the same spot, is random.
Kenny I am having a problem with my player head in reaper. When it's playing it suddenly stutters. Please can you send me any advice to undertake and resolve the situation. Thank you
