Great video Red. The bridges in the woods are from the former Milwaukee road line to Ottumwa. The Crandic yards are the “900” and “950” where they interchange with the Iowa Interstate.

Hello Red, that's the pond that dried up, there's a little water in it again. The drone flight over the parked track construction machines is very nice again. There are quite a lot of them, the view over the UP Yard is also great, even if there isn't much activity there. The track yokes that are ready on the flat cars are very nice. I was wondering where the Union Pacific Tie Gang was parking their equipment in Tama, Iowa. Now we know. The spur track in the former paper mill makes a suitable place to park the Tie Gangs equipment. With all the rain that fell on the Iowa River Valley, I was expecting Cherry Lake to have more water in it. Union Pacific's Beverly Yard was empty. I wonder where the concrete track panels and other track related items are going to be used. There were only two flat cars with new John Deere tractors coming into Beverly Yard. The Cedar Rapids & Iowa City Railroad had some action in their yard. Canadian National train #L571 on 22 June 2024 was a decent size train as it passed you and your nephew, C.J., in the park next to the Icehouse Museum, Red! (Posted 3 July 2024 at 1738 CDT>)

Technically if you want to see concrete ties installed you need to see a concrete tie gang. Completely different that panels. Our crew could set 10,000 concrete ties a day. Each 9 foot tie weighs 750 pounds.

I’m guessing that the tankers you saw at the paper mill were filled with clay or limestone slurry. Great aerial view!

So here is the tie gang deal, lol. When I worked one of these traveling tie gangs, we worked 8 days in a row and then had 7 days off in a row. They probably won't be working again until this Friday.
