Train videos through out central and northern Iowa. I'm based in Cedar Falls, Ia. so there are a lot of Iowa Northern and Canadian National trains. I like to travel south to the old CNW main line and catch Union Pacific action too.
No doubt the DBQ Bridge could use some extensive work. One wonders how old the motors are. 25+ years ago Paul Schneider and I walked on the bridge with the operator so we got to see the locking mechanism close up. Right near the Shot Tower is the remainder of Star Brewing Company which was a background feature in the movie Take This Job and Shove It and also the song Johnny Paycheck sang. Seeing the four CN units up front that meant no DPU. It seemed like the covered Hoppers won out over tank cars and while our green AEX former wood chip car was missing it was fun to see the six gondolas with the junk ties headed for the cogeneration plant way up @ L'lanse MI in the upper peninsula but it is an all CN routing. That was great to catch the empty sand train and the empty coal train passing. The last 25 years have seen significant changes in the real activity and remaining tracking in the city. Starting with the New River Crossing from Wisconsin there were changes for Riverboat gambling as well as the Greyhound track but also in ice rink and Convention Center. On the other end a lot of the Dubuque packing company was removed and the rail tracks were consolidated so that the highways could be widened. You were able to get some wonderful drone views of these fast-moving freight trains at Montour, Iowa on 23 Auguet 2024, Red! You caught more train meets on this day than any other day that I remember. Does that hay field belong to the farmer who was shredding rolls of baled hay and shooting it into his barn to feed his cows that you captured on a video earlier this year or late last year? Never heard so many dogs barking at a pool! Lol. Pretty cool you caught a grainer going up that sub. I remember 4-5 years back when grain trains had a range of hoppers, but now they're all uniform.
@fallingup90 Yeah my dog likes to swim but didn't like so many dogs at once😃 That one unit pulled all those empties pretty easily. You checking out the Big Boy next week?

I did not realize there was a tunnel there. I always wondered how it got to cross that bridge and then got turned to go up and down the side of the river. Thanks for the shots. I learned something today.
It is nice that the Cedar Falls water park allowed dogs in for the last day that the water park was open. I am surprised that Walter was not interested in going in the water. That looks like a decent size water park. The largest water park in Illinois is in Yorkville. My daughter's children went to the water park in Yorkville last month for the day. Your drone footage of the Canadian National's Cedar River train was superb as usual. That was a decent size train of empty grain cars going north on the Osage Subdivision. @thomasmackowiak I actually brought Walter and he did swim some. He's more at home swimming at the lake without all the people and dogs around. I do believe those were Angus cattle. The semaphore is an evening version. Something new👍
