Chris just told me that in 1.12.6, Assault Destroyers also absorb Jet Tengu fire. So at 5:36 the Apollos are indeed invincible against all AA (though the Destroyer would take damage from absorbed fire). MiGs sit at Tier 2. Apollos have more attack, speed, ammo, vision radius, much more health, get free repairs, and are unlockable straight after Power Plant. Let this serve as a reminder that life is fair, and Allies are underpowered.
The problem is not simply Soviet airforce is weak. It's that Allied are strong even on the ground and the sea. At late game, it becomes a case of empire are strongest in the sea but not really and Soviet are strongest on the land but not really.
@@minhducnguyen9276 It is the problem. Soviets have terrible AA options. Bullfrogs deal less damage and are unable to defend themselves, Migs are just worse Apollos without repairs. And they are the only options to defend against two factions who have terribly strong airforces. Worst of all, Soviets dont single-handedly dominate a particular branch of the military to be justifiably banished from any Air contest. Allies counter Soviet navy, both Allied and Empire infantry are superior to Soviet infantry, Soviet artillery has less dps and terrible accuracy to even compare other two. ONLY Armored and mechanized units of USSR are good enough to stand a ground against their counterparts, yet thats not enough to justify completely screwing over USSR's lack of AA.
@@realah3001 They enjoy the faction. They main it, then they use their MAIN as a comp. Dimon, the legendary USSR main, Went to main Empire for comp plays. And thats the guy who can beat top Allied players on 1v1 even 2v2.
Let me get this straight: Migs have less health, are slower, deal less damage. Bullfrogs are slower, deal less damage, cannot attack any ground targets. And these two are the only AA units Soviets have (excluding infantry) against two factions who are notorious with their Air units? *Seems balanced to me.*
Migs are limited to 4 per airfield while empire doesnt even need special building and have no limit on tengus. And you also need crane if you want migs repaired, migs should be dirt cheap for fucks sake.
Mig's have stats this bad and their description says they're one of the top air superiority fighters in the world? I would rather have seen the tesla planes

interesting.... I think Mig should have higher Burst Damage like 120-150 and can carry more ammo than Apollo if Apollo isi all about that speed and precision Mig will be about that HUGE Burst Splash Damage and maybe a bit mroe health
EA RA3 team clearly does not have any idea about how balancing works, and all members are allies fanboys. A unit moving faster? Easier to unlock? Having more HP? Can be repaired? Oh yeah that’s totally NOT OP at all huh.

Flak trooper that does worse than Javelin in terms of AA and AT. Tesla Trooper that nobody build it.... Maybe desolator? But that one is not in base game so....
@@estellebright2579 Conscripts should have longer range, Less dps, and more damage compared to other infantry(Basically replace their AK's with something simillar to Mosin-Nagant). Flak troopers should have a much higher dps compared to other anti armor. Tesla troopers need more armor against anti-infantrt fire(They're wearing heavy armor for god's sake!). As for desolators i have no opinion for them as of now
@@tacotony3274 As someone who has played Uprising, I can vouch in for that opinion on the Desolator Trooper... No, they're not used generally... They're only used in the first mission of the Soviet mini campaign but that's it... At least they can attack structures unlike RA2's Desolator so that's something...
Fucking hell. Migs should be dirt cheap for being worse in near everything compared to Apollo. And that is before we even touch the no repairs. Its one advantage, the splash damage, is so freakishly easily countered by higher tier players it's not even worth considering in match up. Perfectly balanced my ass. Competitive gaming design my ass.
This is true.:-) mig is anti kirov/anti centuribomber which are literally the best units in the game So having slightly higher dps vs them than apollos is HUUGE
@@AttiliusRex Problem is Apollo can easily shut down Mig anytime anywhere and fast af , Soviet bullfrog just don't have enough fire power to shoot down Apollo fast and Vindicator 1 shot them .

This would be cool as a grand strategy game. All the same units, organized into divisions, fighting across several sectors. Kinda like Galactic Conquest in SWBF2 2005, where resources carry between fights instead of the just-spawn-with-an-MCV thing.

5:10 It's true but I don't know if it's just me or maybe different case in old Red Alert 3. Because I remember very well in old Red Alert 3 Apollo sometimes will fall down and destroy frozen enemies, but sometimes will instead get shredded to pieces, dealing no damage because it didn't fall
Another adventage of MiG over Apollo is MiG do +100% damage againts Kirov. So massing kirov againts soviet player is not good since their fighter can shoot down kirov faster than other
So in short, any large aerial target(Kirovs, Harbingers, and Giga-Fortresses) will take full damage from the MiG's missiles as it also takes in the splash damage...
Not really. Appollos better. Just one argument that could be made is that the second a mig shoots all of the dps hits. Apollo is not one strong shit but many weak. So 5 migs could technically clear stuff earlier Just a theory not tested
I’m not sure about which armor type the MiGs are best against, but it has been proven that MiGs are better at defeating larger air units such as Kirovs and Giga-Fortresses, probably because the of splash damage being able to hit more parts (?) of larger units, if that makes sense. However, Giga-Fortresses are Uprising exclusive so they will never be used in multiplayer, while Kirovs are just not a common choice for multiplayer matches. Therefore, Apollos are still much better.
