I remember flying on the United 747-200 often back in the early 1980's to Hawaii on Easter vacations.Those were the days!

I'm a bit choked up. OK, I'm a lot choked up. I used to go visit my grandmother who would stay on Oahu during the summers back on the 70's. I was a young teen and would fly by myself to visit her when school was out, SFO to HNL and back, aboard the all mighty 747. Many good memories.

What a fun video. Very nostalgic. My first trip to Hawaii and my first ride on a 747 was a United flight SFO to HNL some time around 1982 or 83, that trip was memorable in many ways.... Thanks for sharing!

why are they retiring this awesome airplane , just upgrade it if possible , or is it too inefficient ?

too inefficient, and also unfortunately many remaining passenger 747's have either reached or are very close to reaching their limit of flight hours.

Unfortunately with the delay we experienced on departure, the battery on my GoPro died. So no video of the final approach and landing into HNL. :(
