The Denver International Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in not just the United States but the entire world. Now, as a top three busiest airport in the States, many airlines have looked towards it as a possible expansion platform.
United Airlines is one of those looking to bolster their presence and take centre stage at the airport. They’ve revealed massive plans to make this a possibility.

Meanwhile, Scott Kirby refuses to negotiate the Flight Attendants' contract. United Airlines flight attendants earn the least among the 3 big ones. Some united airlines flight attendants live in their cars, out of food stamps. It is shameful. #contractnow

I live in Denver. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but the few times I've had to fly on SW, I had to deal with delays, cancelations, lack of communication, horrible service, etc. I've never gotten a particularly "good deal," either, unless I took a flight at inconvenient times, like o'dark thirty. Nope. I won't go near Southwest. Btw, DIA has LOTS of room for expansion. That's a big advantage.

I always choose DIA as a connecting point when I fly Southwest across the Country, I think it's by far the best and easiest Hub in the West to connect from one Southwest flight to another.

United Airlines has one problem in the last few months. They’ve had a lot of mechanical issues and southwest has had problems with their on time so I think they’re at par to each other.

Hotels ! Hotels ! $$ Every airline should have a lounge for business class - Orlando OIA wanted to charge me $100 fee just to enter the AA small lounge for 90 wait - Fly business on American Airlines normally to DFW - Initially thought it was a joke …. It wasn’t . American Airlines should care a Lot more for their customers - Mooooo However , I must say their flight crews are quite good , really .

Yet Denver is the only hub in United's network that does not have a Polaris lounge. Even small hubs like LAX got a Polaris lounge like 10 years ago. So this is nothing but United leeching of Denver!

The reason why it lacks one is because Polaris only exists on international buisness class routes. For a while Denver only had 2 routes and flights, London and Tokyo. But now there are 5 daily flights and it seems it will only grow. United knows that SFO, LAX, and ORD will likely always operate near capacity so DEN and IAH need to step up. United seems to have taken up the strategy that maximizing the existing hub airports is the best rather than adding focus cities or new hubs

It's because Denver doesn't have a lot of wide body international flights. Denver has more United passengers overall than LAX however LAX has far more Polaris passengers than Denver.

Denver just doesn’t have major international presence. Star alliance partners aren’t flying at Denver they’re at Chicago and LAX. Plus United premium routes are all out of LAX, and Chicago for comparison.

Chicago should remain the Headquarters for United Airlines. Chicago has and is an International Gateway to Europe and Asia from the Middle of the country, something Denver is NOT. Chicago is the nation's 2nd largest tourist destination only behind New York No shade to Denver, but Denver ain't Chicago, nitr by a mile.

@MrA: Yet Denver just passed Chicago as the 3 rd busiest airport in the USA- and now the 6th busiest in the entire world. Chicago- unlike Denver- has no room for expansion. Only a matter of time.

Denver just doesn’t have the international cachet as Chicago. United moving there might aid only in domestic realignment of its aircraft, and streamline operational inefficiencies. Only 12 international carriers fly there, with 4 of those being seasonal on leisure airlines, vs 38 at Chicago. Plus it will be hard to make Denver a true international option when United has key airports on the coasts SFO, LAX, EWR, IAD and Houston for points south with more population. So basically canabalizing its operations in key markets it fought for decades to grow and maintain?

​@alooga555 Why do you say that? I live here and I think it's a great city. I've traveled all over the US and spent time in many major cities. They all have advantages and disadvantages. But Denver has wide open spaces within easy reach in all directions. What it doesn't have are large bodies of water.
