In 1997 I was hired by United Airlines as a pilot. When I got the call/letter with a class date I cold called friends and family and whether they picked up or I got an answering machine I played this for them on a stereo system holding the phone (landline!) up to a speaker without speaking first. Most everybody got it as they had been with me through the months long interview process. I have a huge smile on my face just thinking about it, what a great day.
@@utlot9785 Those are called winglets the part that points upward and serve as a way to make the spinning air at the wingtips weaker and make the air flow over the wing more smoothly.
@@EarthlyMistral I heard of a pilot who preferred two engines over four. His reasoning was that there are more to go wrong in a four engine jet. Does that make any sense to you? Thank you.
I really need to know who in the marketing dept or ad agency originally chose Rhapsody In Blue for their official theme, because damn it, I want to give them a hug or good solid handshake. Because I hear this song and instantly think United. That's not how you do your job, thats how dominate at your job and do a solid mic drop at the end!
The -400's were pretty spectacular to see; it's a shame I never flew on one. Dad worked as a machinist, then PW2037 & PW4056 inspector at Northwest which was the 400's launch customer. I did fly once on a 747-151 or -251 almost 50 years ago in first class as a non-rev and that was an incredible experience. The flight attendants found out that Dad was a machinist and kept bringing really good import beers, cognac etc such that Mom had to drive after we landed at KLAX. The in-flight meal was memorable: flounder stuffed with crab as part of Northwest's "Regal Imperial Service" complete with Oshibori towels. Seeing all these liveries brings back memories from growing up just a few miles from KMSP. United had a couple Boeing 720A's (JT-3C turbojet powered) that they cut up on site. KMSP used to house the Northwest world headquarters along with a base for Western Airlines.
It’s because the 747 isn’t nearly as fuel efficient as newer aircraft like the 787 family or the 777X and the operating costs are much higher on the 747. If they had the choice between a newer, quieter, quicker, more fuel efficient and cheaper plane to operate then as an airline they would do that. It is sad still to see the 747 gone from service for United.
United brought Continental out of the minors and brought them to the big leagues. you're welcome "ex-Con". Welcome to LAX, SFO,IAD,DEN, BOS, LHR. Stop acting like haters. You're with the big boys now. Now act like you belong!
As an employee of United i can't recall how many times i have received the FC for free and this song would play while we would be getting ready to fly....absolutely amazing. Western world is simply the best and nobody can match it.
Thank you for bringing back lots of memories seeing UAL ships at KMSP. That was back in the day when the flying public was civilized and aircraft interiors felt much less like passengers were sardines being crammed into a dirty, cramped aluminum tube! The Gershwin music is pretty awesome and classy.
Gracias público ok hola gracias oyente juventud ay ay ay yo. Cim algún año msx. Mys cuñas total cola les gusta le my algo yo necesito. Y otros ok hola gracias
United Safety Video- Rhapsody in Blue Welcome! We’re excited to have you aboard! And we appreciate your attention as we demonstrate the safety features of this aircraft. FAA regulations requires you to follow the instructions of our crew members and comply with posted and lighted signs. Please review the safety card located at your seat. It’s important to have your seatbelt on at all times. To fasten your seatbelt, slide the metal end into the buckle, tighten by pulling the loose end of the strap. Lift the buckle to release. When the seatbelt sign is on, your seatbelt must be fastened low and tight across your lap. In case of unexpected turbulence, keep your seatbelt fastened even when the seatbelt sign is off. Please take a moment to look around in order to familiarize yourself with the Aircraft. This Boeing 787 is equipped with 8 exit doors, 4 on each side of the aircraft. If the doors are opened in an emergency, slide rafts will automatically inflate. In a water landing, slide rafts detach from the aircraft and are used as life rafts. All 8 exits are marked with overhead signs. As you locate the 2 exits nearest your seat, remember, they may be behind you. If you are seated in an exit row, you may be asked to assist a crew during an evacuation. If you’re unable or uncomfortable performing exit row functions and assisting an emergency, please ask a flight attendant to be moved. If you must evacuate the aircraft, exit path lights on or near the floor will illuminate and guide you to the exit. Look for a change in color or an exit sign to indicate that you have reached an exit. Leave all carrying on bags behind. Please refer to the safety card near your seat for the operation of the exit doors on this aircraft. If necessary, an oxygen mask will drop from the compartment above your seat and ceiling compartments in the lavatories. If a strap appears, pull down on the strap to access your mask. Firmly pull the mask to extend the tubing. Place the mask over your nose and mouth and slip the band over your head. The band does not require adjustment. To start the flow of oxygen, breathe normally. Make sure your mask is secure before assisting other passengers. Should you need it, you’ll find a life vest with a water-activated light in a pouch under, between or next to your seat. When directed, pull the tab to remove the pouch. If present, remove the straps from around the pouch. Tear open the pouch, remove, and unfold the vest, slip it over your head, wrap the belt around your waist and secure it to the buckle in front. Pull the loose end to tighten, inflate your vest just prior to exiting the aircraft by pulling down sharply on the red tab. You can also inflate the vest by blowing into the tube. This aircraft is also equipped with infant life vests, which will be distributed if necessary. Smoking, vaping, e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco are never allowed on any of the United Aircrafts. FAA regulations prohibit tampering with, disabling or destroying lavatory smoke detectors. US law also requires passengers to comply with lighted signs and crew member instructions. Make sure you’ve switched all smartphones, tablets and e-readers to airplane mode. For taxi, takeoff and landing, large electronic devices must be turned off and stowed. If you dropped your electronic device in your seat, please do not move your seat and ask your flight attendants for assistance. For international destinations, your flight attendants will advise you if it’s necessary to turn off and stow your device. We’ll be taking off soon, please review the safety card located near your seat. Stow your tray table, food and beverages, carry-on items, headrest and footrest. Make sure your seat back is upright and your seatbelt is securely fastened. Please place your personal items under the seat in front of you. At United, we're connecting people. Uniting the world and doing it safely. From all of us, we sincerely thank you and enjoy your flight!
That can work from EWR sadly they'll run into a problem flying into Oneworld fortress hub CMN and RAK held by AA partner Royal Air Maroc. That's more suited for AA since they can be fed by Royal Air Maroc in CMN/RAK.
@@EpicThe112 this is true, American Airlines announced summer flights to CMN back in 2019 from PHL the route was delayed due to Covid and will be launched in the future the route was gonna be operated by B757 American Airlines retired the 757s. United played this a million times over a decade, almost ruining it. Over and over and over--enough already!! I'm really disappointed that the Gershwin estate allowed this travesty to go on for way too long.
