I really feel for you. I have been in a similar situation except they did it while I was heavily pregnant and the stress caused me to lose my full term baby. I'll never get over it. @@julieparsons3216 I have no savings. I used everything I had to buy my first home to which my children will inherit. A home I never had growing up. I was severely abused as a child. Want an example? How about being forced in the house for 8 years , no friends, no activities even in the summer. I could go to school. Oh, how about this one, my mother threaten to kill herself in the garage with the car on like her own mother had done if I went to a job interview. Police met me at the front door and my mom said that I had and active imagination. Oh how about this, getting strangled by first husband, knocked out cold by second husband. Ever get knocked out? Your head feels like cotton wool as blackness takes over your view, when you wake up you have no idea how much time has passed! Oh, how about this one, being forced to go into the military when what I wanted was university but no I sent to the Philippines to end up raped. Oh how about this, my dad trying to kill my mom when I was 4 as I watched and she screamed for me to get out of the house but when I did my dad ran ahead of me and wedged a knife between the door and door jam so I couldn’t escape. Oh how about having my first born die 3 days later in my arms of a hypoplastic left ventricle then my husband forced me to take down all nursery furniture after burial also which I had to plan while I was grieving with no help! Shall I go on? How about at age of 8 my dad put me on his lap while he drove then made me steer the car as he went over 100 mph on the motorways. Took me along time to get over my panic attacks while driving. Want more? When I did have my child that lived I was breastfeeding and my mom locked me out of the house after I had a row with her as my baby cried and my milk leaked . As a result of my life my fight or flight function is stuck hence the fibromyalgia and cptsd. Now do you not think i finally deserved a break and why I bought my house to look after my kids and ensure they never have to know what I’ve known?

@@julieparsons3216 Hey babe, apologies for my rant. I misunderstood your comment and took it to be derogatory against me as I’m used to having to defend myself and being on benefits although my physical appearance looks normal I’m in pain 24/7 with mental issues dealing with the public.

​@lrsco As long as its under a certain amount, (you're inheritance and savings combined) (once they calculate it into sterling, you'll be able to keep your benefits, but if you have over, (I forgot how many thousand you're allowed) but if you're over you would have to pay it all back. It happened to a friend of mine, he was made redundant and tried to claim benefits, he received one payment and as soon as they saw how much he had in his bank they took back what they had paid him, luckily it was only one or 2 payments he received, but they stopped his benefits immediately. You have to admit though, that they take care of you a lot better than they do in the States, (unless you're a pensioner, you have a lot of entitlements in the US. But in the UK we're better off on benefits than working, it works out better, unless you've got a degree and are making more than minimum wage. (I'm also from the States living in the UK for the last 15 years now) I'm from LA and tbh it's turned into a terrible place to live, unless you have a lot of money. Most major cities in the US have turned into Sodom and gomorrah . But yes, my friend also owns his house, and you're right, they don't like to see that over here and receiving benefits.

Although they are not means tested there are rules around which country you are resident in, if you are in hospital (PIP), if you have legal right to be in the UK and so on. They won't just be capturing financial information but also information about your activity.

So you don't have savings above the maximum amount I believe it's currently 16 grand

@@julieparsons3216well no, because PlP and the state pension is not mean tested, which means you can have more then the £16,000 in savings and will not affect your benefits.

The whole purpose of the rules is so you can not save. I've seen those bank accounts made for people on universal credit and I thought to myself, what's the point as you are capped at 6k anyway

You are probably better to put your money in the Credit Union or even under your mattress to stop them snooping in your bank accounts!

Sign up for an online account like revolut/ Monzo etc. and keep your savings in there

I've had problems with Revolut. They update and then kick me out of my account and then make me start from the beginning again on the security. It's a nightmare, you can also only webchat with an adviser and no phone calls. It hasn't worked out for me.

Yeah this has been a thing for years, cops can do it in criminal cases as im sure you know too, but that they say about it means it will be ramped up on the wrong setting

Hi, I have bad health too. My advice is get advice from mc millan or citizens advice on what to claim. And then fill your forms in, explaining exactly how your illness limits your daily life I explain my bad days and help I need. You can get help filling in these forms. My experience is imagination is far worse than reality just try it is all you can do. That's your power. You have to support you as no one will volunteer. Give it a go or your settling for defeat. When things could be better if you tried, so fight for you. Then it can work out good.

Not everyone can stand alone all the time, mind, sometimes it helps if another can brace against the storm with you

@BeanFace-oj2en I like what you said. I'm glad you have had that experience. But that's not been my life experience. I have to be strong for me as anything else lead to disappointment and further hurt. Building yourself up and going it alone has been my savior . As facing the seemingly impossible made the next impossible, defeat able and I learned I could concer and next time it was easier as I had confidence I had done it before and succeeded. No better reward than confidence. When you can't find a hand to hold, this is the way to prosper.

They have a staff shortfall of 30,000 employees. I would expect up to another 6 months wait. You never know your luck though. If they offer you an over the phone assessment, make sure you record the call. If they go back on anything during this phase, or try to say you said something different, you'll have the reference material. You could also potentially provide it at tribunal if necessary, it's up to the judge if they allow it.

It entirely depends on the individual case - they can request access to to an individual's account if they have "good reason" . If they don't it should be fought. I would advise your relative get on to one help with their case if they can.

You need to understand they have been given the power to do as they please. They dont need it to be legal when they can just say it was “good reason”. So theyll do as they please. We cant fight them through the courts because we dont have the money,, and if we did have it theyd stop the benefits and have you up in court…

@@therebel4332 If a decision is made against the claimant, then the claimant can request a mandatory reconsideration siting that they had not articulated a "good reason" for carrying out the interview. That have to make references to actual sections of law when doing this. If they have not and they uphold the decision, then you can make an appeal and disclose that same information in tribunal. This will not cost you any money, but it will be stressful and there is no guarantee the evidence would be substantial enough to overthrow the decision. Most importantly, you do not have to pay for that process. If you choose to have legal representation during the tribunal then you would have to cover their costs. There are some supportive charities though that may provide an experienced advisor for free. You just got to look around.

@@thedukeofnuke1517 been to the tribunal stage for a different sanction and all my evidence was totally ignored and was offered an appeal to it but fooked it off. The whole system is designed to drain your soul,, it takes months to get a tribunal, and 12-18 months to get an official appeal. Absolute waste of time and energy I'm sorry,, it's designed to stress you and mentally fook you up.

It depends entirely on your circumstances bud. Severity of illness, expectation for recovery time, supporting evidence, prognosis etc.

It's more likely that a decision won't be made until at least next November and you will still receive it until you hear from them with a decision

If you have a bank account now that has no issues with it, and that it would be appropriate to do so, then I would take it back to your own account just to be on the safe side.

Currently aveage wait for a PIP review is 12 months after submitting the form. Your award will continue until a decision is made.

Same here, id say probably yes, its the way of things now, fear, so id expect so.

You can request a review but this process takes around 18 months currently due to the high level of demand vs the number of staff employed to do the assessments. I recommend getting support with it as the award could go up, down, or stay the same.

That is correct as the qualifying window is 3 November 2023 to 12 December 2023. If it was after that you won't be, but if you are not sure call them to check.

According to Entitledto the first £6,000 in savings is disregarded and doesn't count but benefits are reduced by £4.35 for every £250 or part of £250 above £6,000 in each Universal Credit assessment period until benefits stop when savings of £16,000 are reached. You could claim for PIP if your conditions are having an impact on your daily living routines. I recommend that you get support with filling out the form from an organisation local to you.

You do have to have a joint UC claim and the SDP is awarded when a person is caring for themselves, so if they move in with someone else they would lose this but then you can request the carers element if they are receiving pip and you are providing care to them. They should also still be assessed for fitness to work and be placed in either the LCW or LCWRA. COL payments are for the household.

Ok but my partner is actually terminally ill amongst other things she has copd chronic kidney disease a mechanical aortic valve in her heart and has had a repair to her mitral valve in her heart and a double bypass plus she's got mental health issues also and loads of other medical conditions and issues I can't even think of or even spell most of them but we /i just wondered was it right when I moved in on 30/4/2022 to now she came across on to a joint uc benefit claim about same time ⏰️but lost her living alone component which I knew would happen and her esa which i didn't know would happen so we/ i was just wondering 🤔 💭 if this was right ✅️ and or is there anything else we or she could have been claiming on top of her pip instead because we were never informed by any benefits officer if we was or she could have been claiming ok because both living alone component and her esa was stopped ✋️ with immediate effect as I moved in to become her carer full-time so just wanted to double check with a benefit expert for her and my own peace of mind ok 👍 thank you for your reply.ps I've not worked in a proper job only voluntary work since my industrial accident in 2003 and I have been not working because of my industrial accident in 2003 with a unspecified serious injury to my back so as Ruth's carer full-time all I basically do is make food and drinks ie tea 🍵 coffee ☕️ ect because she needs upto 2lts daily on doctors orders and I help her in and out of her bath 🛁 which is getting more difficult for her as her breathing is getting worse and we've been told she shouldn't be on 2nd floor anyway and with me now here with my stuff because I lost my mum to dementia on 6th January and had to return to empty her house 🏠 with family 👪 a few weeks ago plus have funeral plus Ruth and me reported her neighbour for trying to intimidate her and me when I was moving stuff in 1st time ⏰️and he apparently was questioned by police 🚔 which we mentioned to our council and they didn't seem to care because their response was a living room is now classified as a bedroom so you don't need a bigger 2 bedroom flat because your flat is a 2 bedroom flat if you count your living room area and on top of this now I've nowhere to return to live if Ruth dies because even though it is councils own rules I must be on councils tenancy to get this flat if Ruth dies but I need to have lived in flat 1yr well it's 2yrs on 30/4/2024 I'm still not on tenancy is this actually legal because their saying nothing about it ie their own rules plus is it legal or illegal foe a member of the council staff including housing officer ect to fill in a council document for Ruth's medical conditions and lie as ours has registered Ruth having cancer ♋️ which she doesn't have this form took him over 1yr to fill in and just few days ago he actually said it's done so wait for any decision just thought I'd ask an educated man ie yourself cos council are just ignoring us doctors and even police 🚔 who's all said this is wrong plus Ruth shouldn't be on 2nd floor fact.

PIP award is disregarded from means test, but the savings limit is £6000 when you need to inform them and this may reduce your PC award. How much it is reduced by is based on a "notional" income you would pay yourself from those savings. If you have e over £16000 you would not be entitled to pension credit. Speak with you local Age UK or call their national helpline for a detailed answer based on your circumstances.
