If you find this video useful, VENMO BEER MONEY to @StevieCarssuck . How to change a universal joint using a ball joint press. Be sure to see my other videos showing how to do it with a vise, hammer or arbor press.
Excellent content!! A+ clear, concise, straight to the point. Everyone on RU-vid could use this video as an example of best practices, not only for the content, but the presentation as well! Subd! Thank you and keep up the excellent work.
I was looking into the Lisle UJoint tools, but then realized its just a one sided threaded press and a ball joint press should work. Thank you, sir. That's one less tool to buy or rent.
awesome! since my YJ is sitting in a parking lot with a broken rear drive shaft up joint and the drive shaft won't pull out of the t-case, I will try this method under the jeep tomorrow morning!
I got the Maddox from Harbor Freight for $60 with coupon and it has already been used to replace 2 ball joints. The threads are really course, so I would definitely use a high torque impact, but I am using the m18 high torque fuel and it worked well. It also comes with some race guide plates, so you could use one as a backer plate if you didn't want the caps to push though; although they are meant to be recessed for the locking clip.
