Could Universal Orlando Ever Open A New Roller Coaster Themed To Top Gun MAVERICK?

Universal Orlando is planning for their NEXT big attraction for Universal Studios Florida, and there is one IP out there that would bring a new EPIC NEW Roller Coaster Concept for the Orlando Park!!
I share my thoughts with you regarding this IP, and show you a layout of a coaster that would change Universal Studios forever! All without removing any rides!
Top Gun Maverick is one of the BEST movies to come out in years, and we have already seen parks 30 years ago capitalize off of this IP for some amazing new coasters at the former Paramount Parks.
So could Universal Orlando actually build a new roller coaster themed to Top Gun?
If they would - that would be EPIC and it would make a lot of sense.

I feel a launched B&M wing coaster or launched invert could be extremely well themed to a Top Gun coaster.

Top Gun Maverick is one of the great action movies of all time and absolutely deserves a world class coaster. Whatever type it is it has to have an awesome launch off an aircraft carrier and a variety of wild transitions to imitate dogfighting.

A B&M wing coaster with the Top Gun Anthem blaring over speakers would be sick and would help round out Florida's coaster collection real nice. We've already got an invert and a flying coaster.

I would absolutely love this! I’d so be there if it happened! But I don’t think this is an IP that’s going to drive much attendance or business. It’s based in real life, it’s not somewhere we would go to a park to escape to or Expy that world because we live in it. I think it’d be hugely popular in the park because people there would flock to a great coaster and a recognizable movie, but it’s no Harry Potter or Mario that has people all over the world beyond excited to step into those worlds. If they owned the IP already, it’d make more sense kind of like Velocicoaster. ANYWAYS please make this happen, thank you!

This is one I just don’t see happening. Top Gun Maverick did well, but this isn’t a franchise that’s going to keep pumping it out. Not to mention Universal doesn’t own the rights.

My favourite action movie! In my opinion, what would be the best coaster to theme to this legendary IP would be an S&S Air Launch coaster. Maybe an upscaled Maxx Force. It would be insane to get that close to what a real fighter jet acceleration would feel like.

If I had to take a guess at why Kings Dominion didn't get a Top Guy themed coaster it was two fold, they had an Intamin Invert being Volcano Blast Coaster, as well as Busch Gardens Williamsburg having The swing coaster of Big Bad Wolf then later on they had also Added Alpiengiest. For years the parks tried to build stuff that the other didn't to attract people in the local area to come to both parks. Still would have been cool though.

To me, the perfect choice would be a record breaking launched flying coaster with possibly a double barrel roll finally with Jet themed trains! Even if it wasn't a launched, they could break ALL flying coaster records!

If I had to guess as to why KD doesnt have a Top Gun coaster, I would have to say “volcano” is probably “why”. Was being planned around the same time the other Top Gun coasters were coming out (remember that the one at Carowinds was originally going to be Godzilla theme) so its possible Volcano was supposed to be a Top Gun coaster.

This is a super nice concept. Air craft carrier launch into the lagoon could be special. Also what are the chances to re track RRR? I actually like the ride.

I think they left KD out of the top gun craze because BGW had both types of suspended coasters to go with at the time.

Two problems: 1. Universal doesn't have the rights to Top Gun 2. Universal has never worked with Vekoma on a large scale. Their kiddie coasters are Vekoma but nothing noteworthy was made by Vekoma at Universal

If Universal does anything with the IP, it'll be an immersive simulator ride like Mission: Space. A coaster is not the best way to faithfully execute the movie's mission as a ride.

Universal would not spend the money on that. They might make it an indoor robo arm attraction.

@@MrMac1138 If they needed to cut costs, they could do it as a re-skin of Simpsons with upgraded simulators. I'm skeptical they'd go with a robocoaster when the experience they're trying to replicate isn't an open-air one.

USF needs DARK RIDES. Not more coasters. Hence why this will be a Pokemon land and Dark Ride.

Or they could use the flying coaster that has a broomstick go between your legs when the restraints closes... I don't see them paying for top Gun personally. Ghostbusters, yah.. but not top gun.

I'd pass on cruise. Maybe make extreme sports themed coasters that can add new elements to make each experience unique.

They bought the Transformers attraction rights from Paramount. It's not impossible - just wouldn't come cheap.

They did not buy the Transformers rights from Paramount. That was a Spielberg and Dreamworks production originally just distributed by Paramount. Universal had access to the rights via its long term deal with Spielberg. It’s highly unlikely to get Maverick as that is not just Paramount but also Skydance and Tom Cruise will have input.

These parks are so dumb not to hire guys like TPR for concepting/planning/focus group testing etc...I don't even like Top Gun and that's a genius idea.
