I would love for universal to do a great hall restaurant. Sort of like be our guest on magic kingdom the windows are screens and it snows! It would be so magical to eat at the most iconic room of hogwarts!

I live in LA where we have a Disneyland, Universal Studios and a Magic Mountain. Universal Studios is my favorite. They have a really interesting approach to rides that incorporates movie magic. The rides are actually quite small and you’re moving slowly. But it feels like you’re moving really fast through a vast environment. Genius use of space!

I was actually at Universal last month over at the Lost Continent eating at Mythos. My waiter said that they will be closing soon and have been notified already that Lost Continent will be closing and splitting up into part for an expansion of Harry Potter. The other half turning into Zelda by Nintendo. The restaurant employees themselves are not quite sure where they will be re-assigned but the employees me and my family talked too all said Lost Continent is definitely closing down this upcoming 2024.

The thing is, USF and IoA are already in the top 5/10 most attended parks so UOR as a whole might be at a practical capacity, hotels, parking, transportation. So perhaps some attractions are idled to not draw crowds.

Just have to say how much joy it brings me to watch a video on Universal and get an ad for Disney Parks. Also the Zip a dee doo dah trumpet in the background of the fear factor live show is another subtle amazing trolling.

MIB is not going anywhere. They have been slowly refurbishing the animatronics. Would they do that if it was getting ready to go? I do think the ride system needs an overhaul as it is unreliable and the guns don't work well. The ride I think goes first: Hollywood Rip Ride RockIt. Universal has a track record of not keeping outdoor coasters longer than 16-17 years (see Original Hulk and Dueling Dragons). Guess when it hits 16 years: 2025. I also don't think it will be a retrack like hulk. I think it will be a completely new ride, but keep the music theme. After that, I am thinking Simpsons then F&F get replaced but I think the RRR replacement will open in early 2026, Lost Continent retheme in late 26, Secret Life of Pets (maybe replacing Blue Man Group) in early-mid 27, Simpsons closes at the end of 27 (maybe replaced by Pokemon?).

This whole video is pure conjecture, HHN is THE money maker at Universal Orlando, so I think any facilities used for it, apart from maybe Fear Factor are going to remain untouched. Because the show there for HHN is incredibly popular, we might even see a new year-round show pop up there before it is replaced. With the ballooning costs of Epic Universe (and that park already seeing some cuts), I don't know if we'll see such aggressive additions to the two original parks, at least not at this pace and to these extremes. Certainly things like Lost Continent will be replaced, and hopefully the abandoned Blue Man Group show, but I'm not sure they will expand into the backstage areas too much. We'll see though, I really hope to be proven wrong!!

As much as I love Dr Seuss I have to wonder how much kids of today associate with those characters/stories. I think, long term, it’s way more likely to see that area taken over by something like Pokémon. I can totally see the Toon Lagoon area being changed for similar reasons. Nobody reads those funny pages anymore. Maybe Universal will do a deal with Mojang and build a Minecraft themed land or something?! 🤷🏻‍♂️ I know it’s far-fetched, but it’s literally the only thing that might be bigger than Marvel, and Universal really painted themselves into a corner with that contract.

Went for the first time a couple weeks ago and expected to prefer Universal over Disney, but was shocked about how much more I preferred Disney because apart from Harry Potter and Jurassic Park the rest of the parks looked dated and in need of an update, especially the studios park.
@blah7983
@blah7983 10 месяцев назад
The main reason Universal is becoming more preferred is that their systems are a lot more straightforward than genie+. Once-in-a-lifetime or every-few-years visitors tend to prefer universal since there’s no extra games to play with fast passes or booking rides. Someone in the family has to plan everything out for Disney which is not necessary for universal. Seriously, Disney’s system is way overcomplicated If you watch this channel, odds are you learned enough about the genie and how Disney works to use their genie system to your advantage and have a good time. That’s not true of typical visitors. Disney generally is capable of providing the best possible experience if you either have a lot of knowledge or money, but you don’t have to do that kinda work to have a great time at Universal.
@alfie_8914
@alfie_8914 10 месяцев назад
@@blah7983 I’m from the UK and my trip to Orlando was 2 weeks in September and it was my first visit and apart from getting a boarding group at 7am and certain restaurant reservations we didn’t really plan much at Disney and rode most things multiple times without the need for genie+. I think because we had a lot of time we didn’t get stressed by the over planning. I agree universal is simpler but I think a lot of both parks need updates in certain areas especially the studios park. Plus I think the only rides that were Disney level quality were forbidden journey, hagrids, velocicoaster, Spider-Man and The Mummy

I've heard chatter that the back stage area to the east of Men in Black will be freed up upon the opening of Epic Universe, and with the demolition of the Simpson ride, will be joined together into the "Fast & Furious" ride similar to the cars themed ride at California Adventure. If the Studios Park were to absorb the Blue Man Group's area, guests will have to cross thru Rip Rocket Coaster to assess it. They would have to do something like "Guardians of the Galaxy" coaster where the loading area in on 1 side, and a tunnel would transport guests to the main building where Blue Man is now. Islands of Adventure is sadly in need of some new intellectual property. It isn't the exciting adventure it was.

As an avid theme park attendee I can agree with this. Having recently visited Universal Orlando the one thing I kept thinking was "Disney is in trouble if they don't clean up their act and start adding, or at least dropping prices". My week long trip staying at Cabana Bay with a beautiful upgraded Volcano bay view and theme park tickets cost HALF as much as a comparable Disney trip. Being I live in Los Angeles I just wish Universal Hollywood would also do some MASSIVE expansions. No, Nintendo world was not a massive expansion, it's tiny. The whole park can be done in around 3-4hrs if you have the Express Pass. Once done the park just isn't as enjoyable to waste time in compared to the Disney parks.
@ashleighelizabeth5916

I think they are struggling with available land limitations in Hollywood. Disney can be much more comparably priced if you stay at one of the partner resorts instead of at a Disney Resort proper. The actual park tickets are pretty comparable between the two resorts it's the hotel cost that's what's so damn expensive at Disney.

@@yotsubafanfan as I said previously, stay at a partner property instead of at a Disney property. And if you desperately want a magic band you can buy them separately even if you are staying at a partner property. The park admission tickets are quite comparable it's staying park properties where you are getting gouged like crazy and there is no real reason to do so anymore...

The issues in Hollywood are not JUST that it is, in fact, a working studio and uses most of the land for that but also NOISE issues. Believe it or not the studio has monitoring stations all over to keep track because of potential city regulation and lawsuits from the folks living up on the hill above the studio. Indeed, there are other limits/problems. Once upon a time, people living up there started experiencing odd radio frequency issues--everything from interference in radios and TV's to having their garage doors open on their own etc. etc. The FCC was called in and found that between movie crew walkie-talkies and the myriad of communications radios for the tram tour, the rides, security, etc. etc. they were using something like 150 different frequencies and causing issues. SO....between that and the general decay of California and rising crime and cost of living issues (not to mention current strikes) to expect a lot more expansion at U-Hollywood is sadly unrealistic, and a good example is the new coaster that is going to go up and down the hill around the upper/lower lot escalators--it should be great, but again, noise issues have to be addressed and that will cost big bucks.

While I know it’s definitely one of the oldest lands in universal dating back to covering the Harry Potter area at one point, but I wish they would add new rides to it instead of remove the beautiful look tho that is all my opinion. Whatever does come I hope it’s an equally opportunistic and cool land to experience.

The backstage areas behind Diagon Alley there are the wardrobe services (where TMs get their uniforms), locker rooms, and a couple of TM dining locations, the back of the HR building and I believe payroll, the textile and painting services is also there, fuel pumps for the golf carts and shuttle busses, and one of the man administrative buildings and security (which can be moved to Epic, I suppose) as well as one of the stops for the shuttle that shuttles TMs to their venues and back of house areas (break rooms and such) for Rockit, Fast and Furious, Gringotts, and the train and all those restaurants and merch locations... also a Starbucks lol. I highly doubt they are going to use that to expand anything. The track for the Hogwarts express also runs along that road connecting USF to IOA Also a few months ago they announced they were renovating that whole area for a more modern and updated back of house area for TMs. So there is already construction happening there

yep there is, lol. funny enough, the security building is in one of the red outlines, and the tm stop is right in front of it. Anything on the turkey lake side of the hogwarts train will not be expanded into, since tm's need a way to get from park to park without guests seeing. stage 18 is used alot for grinchmas so i wouldnt be surprised if they expand suess over there, but it would be difficult since the guest traffic would block a access road.

As long as Universal finds a way to house all 10+ of their haunted houses each and every HHN season, I can even see some of the soundstages and maybe even Hollywood RRR getting bulldozed and cleared for a new land, maybe an expansion of New York itself with new IP.

The 2 existing Universal parks have so much potential. Yes, they can move all those production stage buildings between the parks to a new location near Epic Universe. The can even take part of the massive employee parking lot in the NW corner and consolidate it into a multistory garage - they already have one that got an expansion. In any case, Universal is undoubtedly going to do something to their older parks while Disney sleeps.

I can’t imagine Universal taking out much in the way of those backstage buildings. The majority are for wardrobe, employee cafeteria and break areas, employee parking, spaces for support vehicles, and all of the admin that does have to be in the park, not to mention the HHM spaces. I’d argue HHN season is the absolute most important thing for USO, although I really would love to see the event expand throughout the resort and into all two (soon three) actual parks and maybe even into Volcano Bay with a themed after-hours event, something Volcano Bay: Dead in the Water with live dj’s spinning remixed-horror movie music, mood-appropriate lighting, themed event food & drinks, and the like.

I've been saying for years now that Universal should try and aquire the DC licensing (which shouldn't be too hard considering their alresdy existing agreement with Warner Brothers and Harry Potter) and be given access to overhaul Marvel Superhero Island and transformed into Gotham City, even if they just reskinned the existing attractions and maybe took over a small portion of Toon Lagoon in the process to use the theater as a Batman stuntshow (better than the one Six Flags did in the 90s). I also would expect them to somehow extend the Hogwarts Express into the new Fantastic Beasts land and if they don't then thats an obvious upgrade wasted.

Additionally, I have been saying for a over a yr that some of the biggest news will come from relocating the backstage areas for expansion. Lastly, I love love that you brought up the expansion area behind Volcano Bay. When VB opened that was really the last time the expansion pad got talked about. Since Disney has chosen to go political and has driven away so many people over the last 3-5 years, this is absolutely a golden opportunity for Universal to go all out and dig further into Disney's theme park marketshare in Orlando. My family and I live in NC and exclusively go to Universal and Sea World when we're in Orlando since 2016. We will actually be there for a week next month and will definitely be there for our first visit to Epic Universal in September 2025. I would love to see Fast n Furious turned into something else. It's possibly the worst theme park attraction I've ever ridden. It was a once and done for us. Wonderfully insightful video. Thanks for sharing.

Time for me to be a major buzzkill. Buzzkillington mode engaged: There has been talk of expanding harry potter lands but the problem is the franchise has lost a little of its luster thanks to fantastic beast franchise pretty much collapsing. Right now there is still a bit of a wait and see on that though there is another contender potentially in the wings. Anyone who has played hogwarts legacy may have a clue of what I am referring to. That could be what universal is reaching for in terms of expanding hogsmede into lost continent but the problem is they have most of their funds tied to this new park so all they can do is smaller attractions. That means a whole revamp is off the table for now. Fear factor is in a different position as right now universal needs stage show space and its perfectly setup to remain a stage show for quite a long time. It may get a retheme as something else but its not likely it will be tied to harry potter. Toon lagoon theater is used for specialty events. Just like disney, universal from time to time has loaned out their stages for specialty events like cheerleading competitions. I doubt they will want to remove a space like that which they can rent out for special events. Blueman group holds a similar position as its useful for backstage events. Grinchmas, Family Feud, and a variety of other things have been done there thus universal is not exactly keen on demoing it for a new attraction. Universal is not exactly going to expand into their backstage areas either. For one they need space for their parade floats. They need space for backstage area for employees. They even need backstage areas for tents for halloween horror nights and its very big lines. Those tents take up massive amounts of space and universal knows the more houses they have the more people they can bring in thus horror nights continues to grow thus taking more space thus backstage areas are off limits for development.

This video is 100% speculation based on very little thought and a HUGE amount of assumptions. If Posidens Fury had structural issues, they wouldn't have announced its closure a month before it closed. They would have closed it immediately. The building where blue man group used to be is still used internally and is also where they have the grinchmas show every year. All those building that you assume are empty, aren't. They are used daily for both Islands and Studios. Most of the building behind the blue man group building that are back stage, are used every year for HHN houses, and are used for training and rehearsals. Everything at epic is going to be specific to epic. All the backstage building will be for epic rides, props, costumes, and such. They won't mix the parks inventory for "space." Are there plans to expand and reno ate Islands and studios? Of course. Projects go on every year in those parks and they don't try to "hide" behind epic's construction.

This is just a what if video. Nothing is confirmed for Universal Studios or Islands. I don't think they will move fast on either as they haven't up to this point. Epic is most likely over budgeted as well which will result in scale backs of future developments. Unless something drastically changes with attendance i don't see them moving that quick. Heck most of the year Universal can't keep their 2 parks open past 7pm. I'm curious to see what Epic's hours will be. WIll Universal finally have a park that can stay open as late as Magic Kingdom or Epcot?

Coming from someone who just went to Disney World and Universal for the first time last week… Besides the Harry Potter stuff I feel Universal is far less superior than Disney. Disney has unique rides and ride systems in every single park and ride. Universal feels so generic imo. It gave me the feeling of being in a Six flags. Islands of Adventure and Universal need serious help, and I don’t think Epic Universe will make Disney shake in their boots at all.

Thinking long long term, universal have land for a 4th park next to epic universe. 4 parks seems overkill but maybe use a small amount of that land for extra park solely for horror nights in the normal seasonal period plus a couple of evenings a week the rest of the year. Just have 5/6 horror thrill rides and the houses. That then means studios doesn't to worry about space for HHN houses, so have more freedom.

The orange areas are TM areas and cannot change. The area behind mib is maintenance areas where they prestige things etc, highly likely not to change. Soundstage 18 (blue man group) is not unused, it's used for Grinchmas, and studios rent it out. Not likely to change. Also not close enough to Seuss landing if anything would be usf. The Harry Potter VR ride fell through because warner bros used the tech in their Harry Potter store in NY before universal which was breaking the contract they signed with creative, souring the relationship and leading to cancellation. Additionally, the groundwater in the area was highly toxic and universal has been treating the groundwater table.

As someone who works there, i will say that the majority of where you outlined for backlot will not be expanded into; especially the orange. But they are expanding whats currently in the orange, because you are right on things being moved to epic. One thing, the warehouse, was moved last year. and now they are creating, what team members are calling, universal campus for team members where it stood; expanding the TM dining place that was next to it and moving the daves school from one of the sound stages to the campus. We dont get told much about other stuff, heck we weren't even told about universal campus until everyone's walking routes to IOA had to be rerouted, so maybe some of the things in red will happen. there is construction going on in Toon Lagoon last i saw, in front of ripsaw falls.
