@@bruh7130 Sod off, Jimin Kim. You're such a killjoy for acting this way. Those "people in classical music" you refer to are likely non-existent, methinks. Do yourself a favor by not reading the comments. P.S. Fix your grammar.
If you can recognise a piece by Meyerbeer, you've probably written a thesis on 19th century opera. Seriously, I've studied musicology for years and I'm stomped by many of these questions. Especially French opera kills me every time.
@@PMA65537 No, not easy at all. Who knows this stuff? Again, I'm a musicologist. I know pieces by Meyerbeer by name and know about his life and achievements. But recognising his pieces is something for specific fans.
Thanks for making this! I always skip the episodes to just get to the classical music questions. It would be great if you did more, but I know this is a lot of work.
@Ragnar Particularly to be able to answer these questions, you only need to listen to the music itself while knowing when and where it was written. You quickly become able to distinguish between various spatial and temporal styles. And even for general knowledge, no book beats scrolling around Wikipedia and articles elsewhere while actually listening to the music. Having said that, Aaron Copland's What To Listen For In Music is quite good.
Some really good questions; it’s just a shame that the music is entirely 19th and 20th century, and as far as those setting the questions go, ‘classical’ music seems to begin with Beethoven.
I am german, and i had to google most of the composers/choreographs, because of his pronunciation... I just could not understand it. but when I found the one he was most probably talking about I was not that bad.
Fuck off twosetters most people in classical music hates you cos of you’re stupid comments. Just put all of your comments under 1 thread for fuck sake you’re being inconsiderate to others as well

Lol being at Oxbridge doesn’t mean u suddenly know loads about everything including classical music. Just means they’re good at their specific subject (which for most of them isn’t music). Anyway, they’re under pressure & are probs kinda tired from loads of other questions so are bound to make a few more slip ups than normal. Anyway, ngl a lot of the composers / pieces of music selected weren’t that mainstream
Nope, dies is a Latin noun meaning day, and both its nominative singular and plural are dies. However the next word irae is the genitive SINGULAR of ira, if it was “days of wrath” it would be “dies irarum” not “dies irae”
@@somebodyuknow2507 Yeah, the first one is true, my bad. But one wrath can have multiple days so you wouldn't have to put ira into the plural form to have dies be plural.

Jimin Kin, you are really thirsty of attention... aren't you? And talk about yourself, I'm a classical musician and lover of classical music, and I dont have that hate for "Twosetters". So, dont spreed your own hate and nonconformity with life to other people and dont talk for the classical musicans.
