Did you already get yourself a membership in a student gym and/or have you gotten familiarised with the student sports clubs at your university? Make sure to start using these opportunities right from the start of the semester so you wont miss out 👍
Hey Loren, i really hope that you got some value out of this 👊. Did you actually already have a hobby of some sort that youd like to continue while studying in finland?
Oh cool, rugby would be an interesting sport! However, its not really that popular in finland BUT i would really recommend that you also consider perhaps starting your own rugby club at your uni 👍. Im sure you could find people to start practicing. Setting up matches might be an issue at the beginning as finding other teams to play might be pretty hard. However, you could be the one who brings rugby to the finnish student circles ;)
@@RoadtoFinnish yeah, would be nice to find someone who likes rugby or convince some players of american football to play rugby haha. Thank you for the information Oliver
Hey and thanks for the interesting question. Unfortunately i dont really have anything that i could add here. This is a new field to me and i have not read anything about the career prospects. Surely there is a lot of opportunities in sports in general, but since i dont know what kind of a degree this is, i cant really say for sure 😕. Did you already have a school in mind? I guess they could provide you with some information on career opportunities.
Oh interesting! I checked it out but couldnt find any info on the most common career options. What you could do is contact KAMK directly and ask their admission services about this topic.
Hi, bro thanks for sharing this amazing video! By the way, can you make a video tour about the gym of Aalto University? I am a senior student and I am applying for my Master degree. Since I like weightlifting, so it is essential for me to find a university where I can train weightlifting. If Aalto does so, then I will apply this uni without doubt.
Hi I am from India, my daughter is a hammer thrower and Silver medalist in Youth Asian championship 2019. I want to know that for sports person is there any scholarships in Finland. For bachelor studies.
Hey Sunil and thanks so much for the great question. Unfortunately it is my understanding that we do not have any sports scholarships in Finland for bachelor's degree studies. We have a rather different type of a scholarship system compared to e.g. the US or UK. Also, college sports (again, as they are in the US) are not a thing in Finland so this is one of the reasons why you cant get into university through your sports. The way the university scholarship work depend on each institution but as a general rule of thumb, they are granted to the best applicants mostly based on their academic success. In your daughters case that would mean high school grades, her SAT scores and a language proficiency score. What i would recommend is that you start by watching this video where i explain pretty much everything that you need to know about university scholarships in Finland: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NS0_6Ka8zlU.html
Hey Shadrack. There are not links that i can really provide. What you need to do is once you have arrived to Finland and started your studies, you need to check whether the university that you are attending to has a basketball club run by students. If it does exists, you need to either contact their board and ask how to become a member, or simply attend their open meetings or practice and start from there 👍
•Sir Oliver can you help me on What school in Finland That has a Basketball or Good in basketball that gonna lead me to Play as a Team Finland , National Team....
Hey man and thanks for the interesting question. Unfortunately there are no universities or schools in finland that would function as a path to play professional sports.
Not really if you mean in a traditional sense. Most universities in Finland do not have their own basketball facilities (courts or stadiums) in the same way as, say colleges in the US would have. However, there are a few universities that have both bachelor's and master's programmes in sports and health sciences (like the university of jyväskylä) and they do have proper facilities for these programmes. However, do note that there is a big difference in having facilities that are used for educational and scientific purposes vs having purpose built stadiums for college basketball games (which is not a thing in finland).
I have absolutely no idea but if i had to guess, you would first need to get a degree in sports management and then get a job working for a local club 😅. This is definitely not my expertise.
As a general rule of thumb, no they dont. There might be a single exception that im not aware of but Finnish universities do not in general consider sports scholarships. We also dont have any university/college sports programmes like they have e.g. in the US.
