I first heard this 22 years ago at the age of 29, I'm now 50 .. it's still haunting how time just evaporates before us on a tube journey in the middle of the night. All our hopes and dreams, all our yesterday's pass too quick.
@@TxxT33 feel the same way.. im 26 and i feel like just a couple of years ago i was in high school but in reality so much time has passed it's crazy. i joke that's i'll just wake up super old one day
I'm 52 now, still loving this track, still finding new tracks to love and still finding new things to do that I can attach all this great music to in my head. In 20 years you'll feel nostalgic for today. Act like it! #-)

What @CrazyShotPut meant was The metro and the events in it are life, the girl is us, the image in a raincoat is old age, the train car is the routine we get into, it slowly sucks us in and getting out becomes harder (although the girl wanted at 3:22 minutes, but the circumstances turned out to be stronger) and we find ourselves in a comfort zone, where we already live well and start to live in our memories (at 3:50 minutes the girl plays with a can of soda, looks at her cool boots and tape from the cassette - a symbol of cheerful youth). As a result, we just start to go with the flow, the routine train lulls us to sleep and lulls us, we imperceptibly grow old and, once “waking up”, we don’t understand how time passed so quickly. Great explanation!
Nah, music videos in the 90's didnt always have a cohesive structure and didnt always have to be too philosophical. They just usually have an old person in the videos
a young woman on her way to (perhaps drug inflicted) death? on her journey she is guarded by two angels (lachesis and clotho?) to a plateau where she begins her transfering jounrney, first spotting 'death' himself. scared at first she finally accepts her fate, after she unsuccessfully tried to escape.
Before i ever got into the roses or ian brown i heard this as a kid. Didnt know the artist or who sung it but it always stuck with me. The song just defines that eerie space between midnight and morning
Love this song - I remember when it first aired on top of the pops . The place where the girl gets trapped on the train is known as the “ Kennington loop” and has many ghost stories attached to it , if you watch “ghosts of the underground “ you’ll see it’s mentioned.
for english-speaking users: so many russians are here after yesterday documentary film about first (and the best) years of MTV Russia from the very popular russian journalist Yury Dud'. One of VJ from that MTV said so many good about this clip, she said that when she saw this clip at the first time, when she hosted show in the live air, she was shocked and couldn't talk

Since the moment it has released, I suppose that this is the best music video ever, together with the "Rabbit In Your Headlights". Thanks for support! =))

Unkle, MM, Foo Fighters, Bloodhound Gang, Korn...
Timeless track. Feels like yesterday I was young, talking to my friends about the new UNKLE album, and one day we woke up and are almost in our 50s! London in the 90s was the place to be - miss those day.
Not only that the musicianship is so diverse and the vibe is not so out there. Eerily/Solitary feel, yet peaceful, like you don't care at this point anymore, you are too tired of being scared and worried. Its an enlightened darkness... And the Video is such a wonderful little film! It fits and explains the feels magnificently!
On 3:15 you can listen an excerpt from Terry Callier's Dancing Girl, the introducing song from his endearing and wonderful 1972 album What color is love. Massive Attack members as many from the Trip Hop movement and the Bristol sound worshiped him. Some of them even back up his coming back.
Even though I've known and love UNKLE for years and specially this song, I think this is the first time I see the video to the very end...what a surprise!
QUOTE "The lyrics of UNKLE's song Be There have a haunting and introspective quality, with a sense of urgency and concern for someone the singer cares about. The song seems to be about the singer's desire to protect and guide a loved one who is struggling and falling apart. The lyrics "You don't want to go there, let me lead you by the hand. You don't want to be there, over the sea and down to land" seem to indicate a sense of urgency and a desire to help someone who is facing a difficult situation. The singer seems to have found a way to connect with this person and offer them some comfort and support, saying "I found the way to get inside you, I'd give you peace of mind" in the chorus. There is a sense of tenderness and care in the way the lyrics are delivered, with a soft and mournful tone that emphasizes the concern and empathy behind the words. Overall, the song Be There is a poignant and emotional expression of love and concern for someone who is struggling, with a strong sense of empathy and a desire to help and guide them through a difficult time." QUOTE ""Be There" by UNKLE is a song that expresses the idea of leading someone away from a negative or undesirable situation. The lyrics suggest that the speaker wants to guide the listener, as they don't want them to experience something unpleasant. The song talks about finding a way to connect with the listener, to "get inside" and offer them peace of mind. The repetition of the phrase "I might see you falling" indicates the speaker's concern for the listener's well-being, but also their belief that they can prevent them from falling or experiencing hardship. The chorus repeats the idea that sometimes the speaker does or doesn't see the listener falling, emphasizing the ambiguity of the situation. The lyrics also mention going over the sea and down to land, which could be a metaphorical journey or an invitation to explore new places and experiences. Towards the end of the song, the lyrics mention feeling corrupted and fighting for free will. This suggests that the speaker might be struggling with internal conflicts or external pressures. The song ends with a plea for understanding and asking how the listener feels. Overall, the meaning of "Be There" is open to interpretation, but it seems to convey a sense of protection, guidance, and concern for someone's well-being. The song may also touch upon themes of personal growth, the challenges of making choices, and the potential for internal struggles."
James Lavelle aka UNKLE is definitely a groundbreaker and explorer. His creations and mixes create soundscapes that take one to dimensions. Saw him play in Munich back in '17, absolutely great!
Entré a RU-vid y voilá... Be there... Muy bueno.
I like the sounds in this track, and I am aware that DJ Shadow is someone who specializes in resampling old music, I want to track the origin of the sounds.
Stone Roses.
