Great review! I'd love to hear your thoughts comparing the RS700 with the Orbi 970. Netgear sells the 970 standalone.... so assuming you don't need mesh today... which would you buy? Is the nighthawk app better than the orbi app? Do you think Netgear is moving away from Nighthawk (meaning Orbi would be more future proof)?

You know seriously i was about to comment on your videos requesting you to make review of rs700 but for some reasons was missing it and there you go You are the man of routers. Btw after all.careful consideration am.going for eero max 7 let's see how it goes. I was inclined towards asus bq16 but it has 1 gb ram and just gigabit lan ports

Appreciate the feedback! eero Max 7 is also great, just remember that as of now (which I'm sure it will get addressed), it can't do 5Gbps internet speeds, get's close but not quite.

This thing has truly impressive range and speed. I’m able to blanket my whole 2000sq foot house which I previously needed 3 eero pro 6’s for. And in many places I can get gig plus download speeds. I’m using it in AP mode with my firewalla gold plus router.

hi, great video!! have a question, but i’m not if it’s possible to connect a cat8 to your router, run it up the wall & into the attic, across ~50ft, and connect it to an extender to put off speeds on other end of the house where it doesn’t reach? product recommendations would be extremely helpful :) thanks

Great review. Like to see a comparison between Netgear and Tp link to see their performance. Also, looks like a firmware update is necessary for BOTH the Guest Wifi and USB port as I've seen users having problems sharing a USB attached device. Buggy Firmware

Didn't realize USB had problems as well, looks like they do need a firmware update. this is the only standalone wifi 7 router I have as of now. I do have the deco be85 but will compare that to the Orbi 970 and eero Max 7 as mesh systems.

@landpet
@landpet 6 месяцев назад
I haven't tested it in the last month. But there was a firmware update that address the issue. Let me explain, when i picked a new ssid and new guest ssid, it worked fine. When i picked my existing ssid and my existing guest ssid that i normally use, thats when it didnt like it. Now as for using the same ssid and guest ssid that i always use, netgear is working on a fix, maybe thats addressed as well but i havent tested that yet. Simply put, with the new firmware from a month ago. I could pick a new wifi name and a new guest wifi name and password and it does work fine. Just didnt work when i wanted to reuse my wifi name and my guest wifi name. Hopefully that answers the questions.

Depends how big you place is and if the router is centrally placed. I'm more of a fan of mesh systems if the routers can't be placed centrally in the home.
