The seat I choose depends on flight time. For my flight from Edmonton to Vancouver last week (1 hr +) I chose economy at a window, for the 4 hr + flight to Mexico in February it is in economy again but I paid extra for a seat with more legroom and an aisle seat. For the trip to Scotland next summer (10 hr) I booked a premium economy seat at a window (my wife will be in the only other seat). Believe me, being 76 it is well worth the extra cost. You are right, the seat you choose all depends.

So true! It depends on the flight and the circumstances.

Once I went to business first or first class . I will never go back I’m a tall big guy so I love the room . Going to Italy 🇮🇹 in April for two months with the family. It’s going to be fun most of my family never flown and especially first class. My family took all of first class except for 2 seats . Lol I will have a lot of points as well.

I agree but the price for Business has become insane. A recent Air Canada return flight, Toronto/Tokyo was $8,000 Canadian per person. That’s $6,000 US. Double pre Covid.

I have a love/hate relationship with window seats. It’s my favorite seat BUT on longer flights I really hate shuffling past people or making them get up. Aisle seats alleviate that since I don’t mind moving for others BUT then I can’t watch the scenery out of long flights which could be drastic out of longer flights to exotic locations 🙄 I always agonize over the choice lol😂

I always book a window seat if possible, with a preference for the right side as it just seems more natural for me to lean that way. I do this both because I like the views if it's a day flight and there's something to see (on my most recent flight we flew up the Dalmatian coast which even though it was at night was quite interesting), and because I have something to lean on if it's an overnight flight and I want to try to sleep. I generally don't need to use the bathroom as much as some people during flights so I'm ok with it being somewhat less convenient to leave a window seat. The two things I don't like about window seats are that they're colder, especially if you lean on the wall and your body feels its coldness, and you can also feel and hear the engine vibrations if you lean on it, which I find jarring and distracting if I'm trying to sleep. I've tried all sorts of solutions, like placing a blanket or pillow between me and the wall, but they always seem to slip or slide and fall away. So if someone knows of a way to deal with the cold, noise and vibration, say with a special kind of travel pillow, blanket or whatnot, that isn't too bulky, I'd love to know about it. I wonder if a micro-thermarest, of the sort you take camping and inflate, might work. Do they make ones that are only half or quarter size? I've got to do some research into this now...
@NoraDunn
@NoraDunn 6 месяцев назад
I don't usually struggle with the vibration, but the colder temperature of window seats can certainly be a bit much. I personally wouldn't go the thermarest route though, unless I'm camping and/or it would serve some sort of purpose on my trip. But that's just (ultralight, minimalist) me!
@kovie9162
@kovie9162 6 месяцев назад
@@NoraDunn It's a specific sort of vibration that affects my head if it touches the wall directly, perhaps more accurately engine noise transmitted through the body of the plane, kind of a low hum similar to when there's a small leak in a car's exhaust. I guess it's just me and I'm more sensitive than some with it, but probably a small thin foam pillow or fleece blanket folded up would block it and shield from the cold. But, window seat, a way to stay warm and block out noise and light, slight recline, and I can actually sleep on a plane, which is usually SO hard for me to do. 😴

Watching a lot of plane crashes, it seems front and back is most likely to die in a crash. Supposedly the mid section is stronger because of the wing attachments, and the plane would usually go down on the nose or tail.

Hey Nora. You know I'm a big fan of your videos, and this one was great. I do have a suggestion: I"m sure you know that you talk quite fast, and I would appreciate it if you would try to slow down just a bit so people like me can more easily understand you. 🙃Thanks.
@NoraDunn
@NoraDunn 6 месяцев назад
Sorry about that, Bruce! You CAN adjust the playback speed if you like, so I talk slower - I may sound a bit drunk with the slower speed, but perhaps this is a fix until I get my natural speed to a more digestible level? ;-)

Seat recliners are the reason I pay for at least premium economy now. I like how the newer planes have seats that recline but don’t move backwards to impact the person behind.
@NoraDunn

I had one of these type seats last time. They pivot forward and crush your knees into the seat in front of you eliminating the nearly zero leg room you had before pivoting. Worst seat I've had so far.

@@NoraDunn hi there. The only reason I found out is the following. I was booking our Turkish airline flights and wanted to use seat guru. Couldn’t find my flight number on their site. Sent them an email to ask why and/or when it will be added. They then replied that apparently they sold the site and it’s not being updated.
