John, I am so thankful that you have such a gift of reading books with deep meaning in our lives today. I’m not a passionate reader like that, so it’s like you open a whole new world that improves my Christian journey. I’m “old as dirt” as a good friend used to say many years ago. But. But. But I can still learn! I am thankful every day for your faithfulness of sharing your God Given Gift(s) And thankful for each one involved in making that a reality. Put your right hand on your left shoulder. Leave it there and put your left hand on your right shoulder. Now squeeze tight. That’’s my hug for you and all who make this a reality. Also for anyone who needs a hug right now!
I am on the Elder Board of our church in Arroyo Grande, and Jason is our senior pastor. One day at lunch we were talking about our all time favorite preacher, and if we could only hear one more sermon in our lives, who would that be. He grew up on the east coast, and I grew up in So. CA. We decided to declare it simultaneously, and then we both said..."John Ortberg"!! No kidding...we both love you and your calling. John Ortberg, overcome the world and its discouragement. Continue to use the gift that has changed so many lives. You are welcome to come share your gifts at our church anytime!! Blessings to you and the team you have assembled to give us our daily dose of Becoming New!!
Thanks John for taking what God has given you both good and bad and using it all as a blessing to us all. I deeply appreciate your daily challenges to live out God’s kingdom. God gives hope through your life experiences as you pass them along. Thanks again!!
We miss you at Menlo, John, and your special gift of teaching/ preaching. Thank you for continuing to share your gift with all who will listen. So, so helpful.
Our stories disclose..... ... as my friend and sister Stephanie put it, "the best gifts I have ever received ALL came wrapped in black paper." I was taught to cling to the idea that, and God's hands, my dark past becomes my greatest asset .. With it, death and misery can be averted for OTHERS! 🎉🎁🎁🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank you, John O.
Im so blessed that you use your gift despite your suffering and rejection. For those of us who have also experienced these things, you encourage and bless us to keep looking up, to keep going. The fact that you know suffering and you are so real is what draws me to your teaching. You show kindness through your gift and it reminds us of the kindness of our Father.
