How to recover your 3 digit ikea Galant cabinet lock. Hope it helps you. Please like 👍 if it worked for you. Please note that you only have to figure out 2 of the 3 numbers. The 3rd you can just turn all numbers. Good luck
Thank you very much Mike - I had the same problem as you - not a clue why it got stuck. No luck with razor blades....AND then I found your solution. Really appreciate it!
my husband tried the "knife" method for a while...and I worked on it for about an hour just fidgeting. Then I watched your method. I tried it for about half an hour but it wouldn't work. However, after all the fidgeting...using your tips on how to manipulate the lock I heard a click, and then finally just went back and tried my combination and it worked!! I'm so happy!! You gave me the hope and patience I needed to just keep at it! Thank you!
I tried the blade and the sturdy paper method and was just about to take a sawzall to the cabinet. This worked. Turns out I had unknowingly reset the combination when locking it. Thanks for posting this video.
For the people who are still struggling: Apply a lot of pressure to the reset slider (I used a screwdriver) and start turning the 3rd row (nearest to the slider) till you hear a click, then the 2nd and lastly the 1st. Worked best for me took me 15 seconds to find the combination, hope that helps!
Dude your comment just saved me, I've been trying for 15 min and nothing but my pressure was down. As soon as putted the pressure up it worked like a charm
From the dates of the videos and the comments, it seems like this method may work best for newer Galants. I tried this method and some of the other methods which were posted in the last 2-3 years, and they didn't work for me (my drawer is from 2014ish). In the end, the knife method worked best for me. But this seems to have worked for people who acquired their drawers more recently! My guess is that this method works best for Galants bought around 2017 or later.
Absolutely agree ! These bunch of extraordinary IKEA products file organizer cabinet with additional protection for tools and files can be deceptive due to number pad around sneaky with advanced with bossy attitude children. FYI Terrible kids! I went insane trying to unlock the cabinet files but than your RU-vid instruction worked. Thank you. Srijana Lama
Thank you so so much, bcz the one using can is not useful 😞 your way just took me 2 minutes to found new code re-set by my 2 yo daughter , thank you so so much !!!!
This worked for me, I used a pair of water pump pliers to apply pressure. Mine was stuck on 111, highly irritating that the code was so simple as the cabinet was locked for 1 year after we moved house. It took me under 2 minutes but I would have been more satisfied if the lock was stuck at a more random number :D
@@fsi7260 they dont always just lock into place, and it can get a bit tricky if the wheel is a bit stiff to begin with, i just kept at it at and tried to apply just enough pressure to get them to move til there was a slight amount of resistance, sometimes doing the same one multiple times.
I ended up trying all the combinations cause I couldn't work it out your way haahah btw luckily the right numbers were in the first half :D took me about 20 minutes
Yes, this definitely worked. Don't use the blade method, it scratches the paint. I found the first number quickly. Then I noticed that the other two dials were turning simultaneously. So I held the third dial steady using scotch tape, which allowed me to turn the second dial alone and find the second number. As Mikel noted above, once I found two numbers I scrolled through and got the 3rd number. Then I banished my kids and their friends to the Isle of Elba. Problem permanently solved. jk
Has it happened where the dials didn’t stop turning? Because for me I sometimes feel it stopping on some numbers and other times it didn’t stop, so I don’t k ow what to do.
*Credit to another for posting this comment* For the people who are still struggling: Apply a lot of pressure to the reset slider (I used a screwdriver) and start turning the 3rd row (nearest to the slider) till you hear a click, then the 2nd and lastly the 1st. for the people who still can’t get it open, try using a small strip of thin sturdy paper and stick it in the side of each wheel. roll each number until the paper sinks in at one of them and one you get all of them to sink in, turn the wheels together until you get the right combo
oh gosh... i've got a galant cabinet locked by my removalists... i keep trying these methods. not working yet. sooo frustrating, I"m starting to wonder if it's possible to break in to the dam cupboard.
I’ve got one of these in work, no one knows what’s in it and I tried this, didn’t work for me sadly. The far left one is the only one that stopped and wouldn’t turn, the other two stopped a few times on different numbers
OMG thank you so much! It worked the 1st time I got lucked out a few weeks ago. It happened again but I was not able to do it again. I had kept on trying until it FINALLY opened. I tried with other methods from other video recommendations (with knife/blade) but didn't work. This is still the solution except you may have to keep trying until it unlocks.
Not the best way as if your lock is subject to t&r it is difficult to sens when the number is correct. Much easier and faster is just put a knife or screwdriver between the external cover and an internal rotating part of the lock where open lock symbol is and just lift an internal part up and you can open it
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU - I'd been trying for months . . . even had my daughter go through EVERY COMBINATION . . . nothing worked . . . until you mentioned WHERE to put the knife and I GOT IT!!!! SO grateful as the little cord to download my photos from camera to computer is in there!! We had nothing downloaded for several years.
