I've heard people say it makes no sense that Alonso got 3 penalty points in the China sprint for the smallest of contacts with Carlos Sainz which to be fair, was just racing, and a crash as big as THAT on the first lap in Monaco had no investigation

Perez took the straight line up the hill as everyone does and Magnussen had no business being where he was, it’s not like it’s his first Monaco GP. All in all though this “race” is more proof that Monaco should be removed from the calendar under the current regulations.

Lots of thoughts on this and I'm going to disagree with a lot of your points so be ready to clutch your handbag at me. Monaco _in its present format_ should not be on the calendar. Yes, the quali is fantastic but the race is beyond tedious. Sunday's race was just about the worst F1 race I have ever seen, just a dull and predictable parade lap only livened up by a few crashes. The current cars are too wide and heavy to race there and let's be honest, it's just become a place for microcelebs to be seen. The only reasonable suggestion I've heard for fixing the racing was Lewis Hamilton's idea of two compulsory pit stops at Monaco to introduce some form of strategic planning. Other than that, I don't see any way to save the race and I fall into the "doesn't belong in F1" camp. Admittedly the early red flag removing the need for any pit stops ruined any chance of a race in the pits but does anyone genuinely want to see a race won purely by pit stop crews? And as for driver penalties, as much as I dislike Perez I would not be in favour of him getting a penalty for the incident. There was no room to pass to his right and Magnussen was too far back and chasing a gap that wasn't there. Perez could not realistically be expected to check his mirrors for someone attempting such a stupid move. Magnussen should have had a severe penalty and an outright race ban on top of any race bans resulting from accrued penalty points. He's consistently put other drivers in danger this season and he needs to cool off and accept that he's not in a race-winning car. Ocon and Gasly ... ugn, what can you even say about that? Hideous driving by Ocon and clearly the rivalry between those two drivers is approaching Senna-Prost levels but without the associated skill levels to compensate. I don't see either of them lasting in F1 into the new regulations in 2026. Regarding the Monaco/Indy 500 comparisons, I can understand why people point to one as boring and the other as a non-stop thrill ride. It's about the event and the overall enjoyment of the racing rather than any well-reasoned comparison of track layouts. The Indy 500 was an enormously enjoyable race and event which kept everyone guessing right up to the last lap. Can't really say the same for any recent Monaco race. With all that said, it was good to see Charles Leclerc score a home win. I've never seen such a happy Prince Albert (ooer missus!)

First, I can see Gasly sticking around because he has the ability to win. Second, the Indy 500 is one of the triple crown races so there can be a limited comparison but not an overall one. The difference in tracks and strategies are light years apart.
