I would really like to know what you think about this one! Gear Used: Squier CV 50's Tele, PRS SE 245 Standard, Boss Katana 50. Enjoy! 05:50 - Playing.
Great demo! This pedal really sounds great. I ordered it a couple of hours ago, and I just found your video now, which has assured me it was a good choice!
I saw the Bradshaw recommendation a few years back. Did some research and bought one then and haven’t looked back for all the reasons you point out. I’m also seeing a batch of new videos on RU-vid in 2021 too so maybe the secret is finally out. Sounds great. Costs little.
hey man, The Bradshaw video is filled with information! Very interesting, I linked this video on some forums and at the time, my video had the title: The most important pedal of the past decade. Long story short, I almost got lynched, hate comments were through the roof and my post got deleted. The problem is, none of them had seen the video before commenting.. anyways, I'm sorry for the rant. Not a great way to greet you on my channel lol, I swear it's filled with positivity lol Enjoy your M5, cheers and stay safe!
Great video. Spot on everyone should own one of these if they use pedals. Even if it's to try stuff out or if you need something now and then. Phil McKnight says the same thing. I worked with a goth rock band in 2019 recording and a few live shows, I used the Dimension setting on everything. On the midi capabilities there is a player on RU-vid called Dave Barlow he uses a bluguitar amp and the M5 with a midi controller.
there is a reason i am still hanging on to my M13....i am not really good at listening to people when talking about gear, i have to experience it myself....i have skipped all the new amp modellers and "really really really really" important pedals of the last 5 -6 years or so....What i have is gold, sure the in built drives may have become antiquated to some, i still love them, the rest of the fx are top notch and has this big sound quality about them....I have added a few extra pedals to my chain for a more modern gain staging thing....but at the heart of my rig its always the M13....
Love this pedal. The best feature is the expression pedal functionality in my opinion. Super easy to set up and it turns the pedal into an absolute beast.
Thank you! Yes. Over a decade later still a great pedal still on so many boards. I use mine for just the modulations. As I have other pedals I like. I don’t personally use a lot of modulation. But it’s great to have on my board. Can get chorus, flanger, and phase when needed. Only issues are as you said. The drives. Which you really can’t expect a lot from digital drives until you spend about 10xs what this pedal costs. And the dual tap selection is a tad annoying. I modded mine to have a single added foot switch to control that.
When it came out i got really excited about it and it's been on my board ever since. The IO is amazing, the fx aren't all great but if you find 4-5 sounds you like it's done its job.
Just got mine for doing studio demos....I'm a boomer so I like the fact it has knobs to quickly adjust things. I wish they had a few presets with assorted OD/Chorus/Delay/ Verb/Comp configs for quick lead sounds but you can only get so much for $150 ducats I suppose.I just went through all the sounds and picked the 24 I liked and loaded them into the presets. Easy Peasy to get what I want quickly. I agree the OD isn't that great...but the "color drive" preset is great for rhythm crunch guitar on ballads. Add some verb/chorus and you're good to go. I use with one of my OD pedals and it's fine with the chorus/verb/delays...sounds like a line 6 pedal...'tis what it is.
I’ve wanted to get an M5 for a year or so as your words are very true my friend, highly rated by many pro players, as you say a total Swiss Army knife, every type of effect you’ll ever need, excellent sound quality, so easy to edit parameters as no menu diving as each knob on pedal controls each parameter and no need to save as it acts as an individual effect pedal so where you set your last effect and controls are what it remembers and stays set to till you decide to change effect type. Just paid £40 in UK for a secondhand one in great condition, can’t go wrong at £40 for so many effects, when at least one cheap budget end pedal is gonna cost around £20 upwards for bottom of the range, so a no brainier, buzzing can’t wait for it to arrive as it’ll definitely get tons of use and will pay for itself within a few weeks. Great playing thanks for your video on this pedal. All the best Steve (Manchester, England)
@@KrenarCilkuGuitar cheers so the M5 will be here in next few days, I also thought I’d throw a really cheeky offer in on eBay for an M13 yesterday fully working of £50 the mad thing is it’s just been accepted this afternoon! So should now have an M5 & M13 by next week that will have cost £90 combined for both, a steal I got myself me thinks
So how well does it play with other pedals? Overdrives and distortion's before, mod's and delays and reverbs after? ....Daisey chained?...Lastly I heard it has a "Universal Noise Gate."....Does that mean you can have Noise Gate AND Distortion on at the same time?....Or does ot only do 1 effect at a time, period? Woiuld you still recommend it? Thanks.
Niiice ! These M5 really are cheap indeed, especially second hand...works really well here ! Do you plug it in front of the Kat or in the FX loop (don't know if you only ever use your Kat clean ?) ? Tasty playing man, as always !
Cheers bud, thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words a lot! I have it plugged in front of my Katana 50 since it doesn't have an FX Loop but even if it did, I would still plug it in front cause I like clean amps and distortion from pedals. Thank you for your time! Cheers!
The G3 is very good for that, I actually used to gig just with a G3 plugged into the PA but the effects on the M5 are just higher quality and they sound clearer, it's a killer pedal! Cheers!
Hey man, yes, this is only a multi effects pedal and it does not have any amp modelling so I plug this in the main input of my amp and everything works as it should on the amp. Cheers!
That’s an interesting take. The fact that is a normal power supply pedal makes it a great multi fx. I have an HX effects that I really like but is much more expensive, with more options and needs more power than usual to work.
Hey buddy! Yeah, it just goes to show how far ahead of their time Line6 has always been. Your HX Effects must be great to play around with, enjoy it! Have a great day my friend! Cheers!
The most important pedal of the decade? I would have a hard time saying that about any pedal. But the M5 and the M9 (I'll assume the M13 too, but I don't own it) are great pedals. My M5 has been on my pedalboard for several years and it's not going anywhere. It seems like people are finally beginning to recognize how good it is.
