Excellent tutorial. I had to delete Post process volume and sky sphere to make it work. I also had to turn off emissive for background geometry

Hi VR Division, so glad that I've run into your channel. Really appreciate that your tutorial are so in depth, from start to finish, especially where to locate the plugins and tips and caution that we need to consider. There's a tutorial that I've been searching for a while but could not find, I just wonder if you would be interested to do. That is making a stereoscopic movie using render queue. I could not find any tutorial for it. I'm not sure if VR and stereoscopic are any difference, and if no, how to output it as images for a movie or short film. Will appreciate it very much if you could do a tutorial on how to create stereoscopic in Unreal 4.27, to output it as images for production. Thanks in advance! Keep up the good work! And thanks for your contribution.

Hey Yahiya, if you then went on to view this scene in VR, what changes would you make? Would you change to the Forward Renderer? I read that's what you're 'supposed' to use for VR to get acceptable latency. I also read that Lumen and Nanite won't work with the Forward Renderer, and that nanite will work with VR in the future but the pipeline just isn't built yet, dunno if that means it'll work with the Forward Renderer (or if we won't need the Forward Renderer in future). Anyhow, would you bake these lights at a certain time of day and make everything static? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
@VRDivision
@VRDivision 2 года назад
Hi Peter!! great question! Lumen isn't supported in VR so I would do exatly as you said, bake the lights at a certain time (or multiple) and switch scenarios with Blueprints in UE I used to use forward renderer on massive projects for performance but generally I go with the default settings for most projects I hope thos helps!

@@VRDivision Hey again, I've been looking around to try answer my own question but haven't had much luck Yahiya, but is the workflow for VR: work and light using lumen, then make everything static and bake lumen, and change the projects renderer settings to not use lumen anymore? Sorry - quite the noob.

Good day Sir. I am currently practicing UE5. I'm Just wondering how to properly import "Group model" in unreal 5 because when I import my Object in UE5 they are not grouped together which delays me from adding materials. my workflow SKP (for model and Grouping) to 3dmax (UV unwrapping + components) to UE5 thank you sir.

I don't have the option to convert this to version 5. I'm wondering if this is because I'm using the full release. Is there another project I can try so I can follow along?
@polystormstudio
@polystormstudio 2 года назад
UPDATE: it looks like you don't have to convert it to 5.0 now with the full release. By chance I just downloaded the project again and it showed up in the projects when opening 5.0. It went through the compiling shaders bullshit hanging at 45% but it opened within 10 minutes. Just thought I'd share this for others who had the same problem. Now I can follow your tutorial!

What features are missing or not yet working properly in UE 5 (early access) that might make a real-time Archviz or Environmental Artist want to reconsider UE 4 for the next few months?
@VRDivision
@VRDivision 2 года назад
Great question Brett! I personally would use UE5 for every single project since it's release, If we need to port these projects to VR, then we bake the lights Put it simply UE4 and UE5 are still the same engine, UE5 got more features and a much better UI! You can also transfer your knowledge easily between versions once you are familiar with the engine I'd start learning UE4 now to find jobs faster, for Archviz UE5 is percectly safe. For games or big productions UE4 is still the default until UE5 is out of EA I hope this helps, cheers!
@brettcameratraveler
@brettcameratraveler 2 года назад
@@VRDivision Excellent. Is that to say a massive scene that runs at 90fps+ in the view window of UE 5 via nanite/lumen should be expected to hit 90fps in VR once all the lighting is baked?
@peterallely5417
@peterallely5417 2 года назад
@@brettcameratraveler Hey Brett, I think you can expect much lower frame rates when viewed in VR because of the rendering pipeline that VR uses. It renders at a higher resolution and at an inverse distortion compared to the distortion the lenses create so that the image looks correct. On my HP Reverb G2, the computer renders content 2.5x the native panel resolution so that pixels look 1:1 when viewed. The two pannels in that headset are roughly the pixel count of a 4k monitor, so 2.5x 4k at 90+hz.. it's a tall order for my headset anyhow. Another thing I've read is that for VR you are meant to use the Forward Shader, not the standard shader, otherwise the latency is too high FYI. I'm trying to get my head around this stuff too. Yahiya, weigh in if I've got any of this wrong or have any advice for us :)
@brettcameratraveler
@brettcameratraveler 2 года назад
@@peterallely5417 That's my understanding as well because its oversaming to correct for the barrel distortion. I think they have overlays for the viewport that will give you a rough estimate of your performance in VR
