She seems unnecessarily defensive toward the rest of the panel. They were very generous toward her . Her foul language and contrary manner were a turn off

Yeah I couldn’t follow what the beef with Max was about. They approach topics through different frames; she’s looking more from the ground up and Max is more top down. One isn’t more true than the other and from what I could tell Max was just sharing background information on one of the groups that didn’t like her film.

Yup, I had the exact same thoughts. Yes, she's been through a lot with the canceling and the controversy. But this was a sympathetic panel and audience. No reason to get that defiant and hostile.

@@teynaranjas788 Max is a difficult character. Aaron Mate has the patience of a saint when they collaborate. One woman of impressive stature w a resume of courageous firefighting & teaching who is sitting w legs splayed (as is typical of men) in discussion w 4 "men", none of whom AFAIKT have ever done anything physically challenging (I'm not familiar w 4th guy on far right stage). I did not find her being defensive, but I would totally understand if she was given the pre-release socially driven cancellation of her Indy film @Sundance & all other such venues months before release. I heard her explain what happened & how she adjusted the title & why. Russell had a conversation w her recently which was far more informative than this lame duck "panel". I suggest you watch it.

@@literatious308 Very good point about Aaron. He is my go-to-example when I need to work on my patience and calmness. I never saw him behaving out of order, always on spot, concentrated and ready. Must be his dad influence.

For a self proclaimed 'good listener' that virtue wasn't on display at all. She sucked the air out of the discussion.

The way she disagreed with Max about cage proved she wasn’t even listening to him talk about cage. Her refusal to listen to them and their specific points, to what she just gives a vague rebuttal was so annoying.

Haven’t seen the doco but Smaker exhibits quite a repellant personality. In all, I found this session quite tedious. Think it may have been more productive if it had been just a one on one with Thad - the rest of the panel also looked a little bored.

Thad did a separate one on one Unregistered interview with her a while back. I recommend that.

Why was this a panel? the masculine chick sucked the air out. I get it, it was about her movie but why were there 6 people on a stage when 95% of the audible sounds came from her? Kinda weird.

Meg Smaker was by far the least interesting person on this. panel, why was she permitted to prattle on so endlessly? Yes, Max Blumenthal is antagonistic but he was also right and her response revealed her inferior grasp of geopolitics/generally foul personality. Also, it's quite painful to watch someone as self-satisfied as this woman unwittingly use the wrong word or make up entirely new words while steamrolling her panelists.

Painful to watch. Such an awesome panel who could have contributed to a great discussion if the director wasn't so uber-defensive and determined to out-alpha everyone.
