Who would ever thought Spike and Buffy would come this far. They went from mortal enemies to uneasy allies to actual friends to lovers over the show. Amazing character development.
Music takes you right back to where you were and who you were when you first heard it. I was a teenager who had just lost my father a couple of years prior. I felt very lonely and unloved in life. But there was always Buffy. A show that I had watched for years and grew up alongside the characters. I was so invested in the story and, at this point, only a few episodes from it finishing forever. It was a bittersweet feeling. I was so excited to see how it was going to end, but so sad that this show that had been an emotional crutch to me for so many years was finishing. I loved Buffy and Spike as a couple, even at their worst. It's funny how much you can invest in fictional characters. I will always remember this scene so vividly. Such a gentle, beautiful moment between two very fragile souls who make a real connection and find comfort in the darkest hours of life. And it comforted me in my own darkest hours. The music brings back just how special this story was, and how much it meant to so many. I think Buffy, in some ways, saved my life. And I know I'm not the only one who can say that.
I am so very sorry for the loss of your father. I lost mine more than 30 years ago and I still miss him. I'm glad this show was here for you at a time in your life when you need it most. Take Care.
