Actually, Animon is special because he would have evolved into an evolved form of the Pokemon you're fighting against. Unless you were fighting against a fully evolved Pokemon already. But for example if you were fighting against a Pikachu and anyone transformed he would turn into a raichu instead. That is the explanation of what it is supposed to do. Also he could learn bite.

:y I think the fourth generation was good actually. I liked Platinum, Heart Gold, PMD2, Black and White 2 very much. After that I didnt play Pokémon anymore for a long time. The next one I played was Pokémon Shield and that was kinda a let-down.

When considering that was definitely a gen 1 beta design, it was fairly easy to see it was meant to be clefairy. Only Pokémon in Gen 1 that looks similar in any way.

My personal headcanon is that Ditto's evolution was going to have the peculiarity of becoming a metallic version (steel type) of any Pokémon it transformed into. It would it be an interesting and quite creative way to show off the new type and, at the same time, expand Ditto's unique gimmick in order to make it more... viable to use? or something like that.🤔

It would be hard to somehow upgrade Ditto's only ability to change it's form, but I think it would be good enough if it's evolution could also change the body material, also changing the type and not only moveset.

Your take on some of these beta Pokemon aren't particularly fair. For example, Crocky. What you're criticizing is a low-quality early sketch (often left up to fan interpretation) in a manga panel. Not only that, there's also a more finalized back sprite (I know it's not much) of that Pokemon that was uncovered. Yes, we know Gen 1 sprites are notoriously unfaithful to their official artwork, but they're closer to canon, especially with what little we have to work with in general. Also, your tone and usage of exaggerated clips and stock images feels very condescending. For the past few years, I've been working really hard to repurpose/reimagine as many cut designs as possible, rather than toss them back into the same garbage bin they were found in to beginning with.
