The 2nd part is even funnier. Yeah in legends the 1st attack on the Death Star had Lukrehulks and Munificent Class Star Frigates repurposed from the CIS.
So in arma most mods are actually ade from the ground up. Everything fron scratch. Thats why jt took nearly 5 years to get a functioning ATTE in the game.
Kip, main infrantry weapon for most factions in Star Wars are Blasters, not Laser weaponry. Blasters shoots projectiles, known as 'Blaster bolts'. Blaster bolts are basicly overheated bolts of gas, a.k.a. plasma bolts, and they WAY slower than bullets (I never heard or seen ANY kind of blaster bolt, that is just as fast or faster than bullets), hence why we can see them well and why force users can deflect them easily (and at all).
All ARMA projectiles are set up to be actual...well, projectiles, so hitscan doesn't work out without a serious amount of script fuckery. Also, Star Wars blasters are actually plasma weapons, so the shots from 'em move slower than most ballistic projectiles.
