ROFLMBO Agreed! People say she's being negative, but homegirl was telling the EN-TI-RE truth. She didn't hold any punches. Her friends were giving the guidebook version they sell to you on open house and school tours, but I know what she said to be true after spending two years there on a scholarship and realizing I wanted better for myself. That school is a waste of time in everything except name.

Deborah Tulloch that’s why I always ask people about their experiences at the colleges they go/went to. Because I definitely don’t want to go to a college that resembles my highschool.
Deborah Tulloch be very careful of how you view these opinions because much of it applies to everyday life in general and not just Howard University. I graduated from Jackson State University and I am proud of my HBCU and many of the points they made I can relate to having attended my now Alma Mater. So I would encourage you to not let this video deter you from attending Howard if that is where your heart leads you. My last point is that no matter where you go to school there will be struggles and while I encountered many of my own throughout my matriculation, when I look back on it, I would not trade it for anything. I wish you much success in wherever you decide to go after high school.
I graduated in May 2017 I had a great experience but some things a great struggle. Finances and Housing uh uh. I recommend off campus housing. There were places to live when I went. Closing Slowe Hall was sad that was my building and I loved it. Amazing Professors and academic advisors, comfortable in my blackness, my history, my future, people I have met, amazing mentors, and reality checks of what I am capable of. I gained so much going to Howard University. Howard taught me who I am and who I want to be.
Howard sells you dreams, New York City sells you dreams, America sells you dreams. Im actually very aware of Howard and I will still attend the school but Howard is actually a small fraction of an issue with college in general. Did you know only 30% of people who graduate actually put their degree to use? That means 70% of graduates will not use all that knowledge they've just obtained. It's something I highly encourage college students to think about.
Everything they described correlates with the experiences at every other HBCU. Howard is not alone. The Atlanta University Center is probably Howard on Steroids. Just being in Atlanta is a beast in itself. HBCU campuses in general are Mecca’s for African American culture overall. Everything black exists on and around those college campuses, good and bad. Howard’s recent financial scandal isn’t new. FAMU has had multiple embezzlement incidents. All hbcu’s have what seem like gay male epidemics. And all of them are practically fashion runways cause everybody is trying one up each other.
I wish I had heard a girl like the girl in the hoodie before I cam here. The videos from before I entered were so scarce and they didn't really stress some of the issues. Really regretted the decision tbh.
Glad i found this channel. id already warned me babygurl about Howard before her tour. i came through on my own tour back in the late 70's and came away feelin some kinda way. came back through as a chaperone and it made my azz itch.
You are going to have positive and negative things in almost every situation. The people that persevere and make the best are usually the people others end of working for and admiring. Good information.
nah I am being honest, what was done to me dirty was I received 700k+ in scholarships and they sold me dreams to go to Howard and now I'm stuck here lol If I could still get the scholarships to other schools, I would have transferred my freshman year!
I think there were some bigger more important concerns when going to HU. I had to leave after sophomore year as this school became a waste of time and money. And my goodness, I have never dealt with an institution so disorganized. False charges everywhere and wrong information galore! My only enjoyable time was being in Showtime, and my genetics course. I will not recommend this college to anyone. Not even for the band. Speaking from experience

Typical HBCU except the male/female student ratio and the laxatives in the food. The gay or down low guys attending. I will say this everything you are experiencing will prepare you for life.
I agree. Howard IS the only place where you will drink liquor straight. Anytime I go out to drink with my other college friends, they look at me sooooooo funny for not instinctively mixing my drink. Lol.
My niece graduated from HU yesterday, Summa Cum Laude! While watching the graduation on line stream, I noticed that most of the graduates looked terribly UNHAPPY! The graduation was so unorganized! One Professor kept mispronouncing the students names: to which the students had to correct him in another microphone! Some of the students didn’t know which way to walk..🤔 Oh, I had to call HU because the live stream wasn’t working, yet they didn’t know it! When the camera would pan to the students, most were on their phones….
My mom and a few other fam members went to HU. I went to high school in Atlanta back in the 90s and did want to attend HU after high school. I went to visit for two weeks for spring break and stayed with my God bros and hated that place. It was the stuffiest campus ever. I couldn’t place my finger on it, but I hated it. Went to a few parties and there would be like 20 dudes on one side of the party from what it seemed to be 100 girls. Everyone there seemed to be starving students and on a very tight budget. I got cussed out for drinking the milk in a damn frat house full of spoiled brats who were broke af too. I just seem overrated to me. Howard is a great school if you can network with alumnus in DC, but other than that, it’s just a normal degree from a university
Y’all really preaching and people missing it they love their institution it’s just that this is the reality of what you might experience and my experience is some what the same at Lane College and we didn’t get Wifi until 2017 😔😔😔🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
