@@holybacontoast9615I raise you my King Karab (no that's no typo - I named it such). No missile armament; Just 4 AC10's and more than enough ammunition to pulverize that Atlas. If I don't just decide to core you; Which I did to a previous - fresh off the dropship Atlas - in 17 seconds.
MechWarriors are known to have sold their houses in order to afford a _King Crab_ because, apart from its spacious cockpit, one can easily fit a fully equipped bedroom with bath and shower, a home cinema, a man cave and a hobby garage into it.
Idk if this is a joke or not, I'm new to BT and know nothing about mech dimensions, but the idea of having a full mobile and heavily armed home has to be the coolest thing I've ever heard, for a mercenary or not.
Ask video creator - Baradul, he play mw5merc with mods, maybe he know how to get this one in mw5merc. I dont like crappy kgb with lrm in left side energo/ballistic in right side looks ugly.
@@furiousdefiler7734 used bunch of mod with additional mech variants and no one of them add Kcrab with 2 SideTorsos mounting energy/ballistic. so i just throw this idea and keep playing with YAml mods. 10-20 mech wariants dont make gain needed one more easy... because enemy in mission start to use mods trashy variants more often then vanilla one which sometime a lot better then modded ones.
Also, iirc, this mech was used as a command mech up until the Atlas stomped off the lines. Then that usage got moved to the Atlas, allowing the King Crab to focus on being a funny brawler.
I thought it blew up too the first time a watched this. Watched again and it actually just takes a big hit then steps backwards and keeps chugging along.
Interestingly, the twin ppc armed king crab is a variant that didn't see much deployment before Kerensky left the Inner sphere but is one of my favorites. Glad to see it in motion for once.
@Grimson87 the kgc-010 was a successful attempt at making a command mech from the king crab. It had a limited production run and all existing models left with the exodus. It features an lbx10 in each arm. A ppc in each shoulder. And an srm 6 in each shoulder. Interestingly it's ppc w3re stayred to have red colored shots.
I played Battletech with an Ace Pilot and a King Crab with AC/20s as its primary weapon. This pilot rarely missed cockpit shots and rarely didn't do enough damage to rip an arm or leg off an enemy mech. However i ran into another King Crab who got a lucky shot off on the dice and one hit killed my pilot. I restarted that one.
Couldn't wait for this one. The King crab is my favourate mech out of all of em devistating and should be feared by all. If not cautious i can truly never have enough of these king crabs in my collection.
@@bthsr7113 Made mine in my modded MW5 which is a fusion of Inner Sphere and Clan technologies, twin Gauss, twin ER PPCs, and twin SRM6, all clan tech, a laser AMS to deal with missiles, and to top it all of, armor with Null Signature System attached. Can take on 3-4 clan assaults with its headshot ability alone.
I personally rock a king crab with dual gauss shotguns in my mw5 mercs game. It just turbofucks everything and I love it. I'm keeping an eye out for a kaiju variant though.
I remember one time in MWO, where the King Crab was free to try. I literally got the kill-shots on half the enemy team, no joke. Best match I ever had.
Fav mech, always in awe of its clunky yet "it works" looks, while remaining to be one of the most fearsome things on the field, whenever, and wherever!
ya. this is def a mech im really glad PGI got a hold of and redesigned. I love the KGC as my 2nd fav assault...but GAWD was the old claw and noddle leg design just...not intimidating
@@MrOrdosan yk, I never knew this was a redesign until you pointed it out... and now that I've seen it, I def dig this one *way* better lmao And in that notion, I kinda wanna drop the "clunky" in my sentence above, but still keep its sentimence as the current design actually looks like a true bulky tank that feels capable of brawling for hours on end! Just that... I can't unsee it as a Marauder that got a bit too much armor by accident and they just rolled with it instead by turning it into a 100 tonner
@@MrOrdosan Agreeeeeeeeeeed! It literally looks like a solid block of tungsten that grew sentience, and now makes it everyone's problem! And I adore it just for that, and although a bit rugged, still manages to look beautiful and technical, despite having the ability to compress a pilot into the hull with its stock AC20s, or other weaponry in its arsenal!
This thing right here, this is my favourite assault-class mech in the setting. This baby can pack so much boom in its arms, it would make an atlas blush...or run away with that death's-head tucked low. I disagree with the idea that the King Crab carries firepower which is meant to be devastating at all ranges- at least, not in its base variant and most others. Rather, this kaiju is meant for brawling in city-scape environments. Sure, you can replace those AC/20s with gauss rifles, but the variant that did so was a clan-buster, and very few others do similar. And sure, it has a large laser paired with an LRM-15 in its respective torsos, but those aren't meant to be used as anything but weapons meant to pester enemies until they reach proper engagement range for this beast, that being "Optimal Inner Sphere engagement range", or "I can see the whites of their eyes from here". And that's why I love it so. This beauty of a monster is unparalleled in brawling range, and if you upgrade its ammo, armour and fully spec its weapons to close range, nothing will ever come close to beating it, pun intended.
@@apollodiomedes203 You must not know much about either mech if you think one is clearly better than the other. Only thing clearly better are Clan Weapons, but you can throw those on your KC just as well. Edit: well, depending on what BT game you're playing anyway.
@@Michael-bn1oi your cockpit is about to last 5 seconds against my direwolf or altas. Nothing scary about a mech with a cockpit i can see from 2kms away
My favorite assault mech second only to the Berserker this bad boy can do absolute wonders if supported right, it ant fast, nor even overly versatile. It has 2 back up weapons and usually just enough ammunition to get through most fights. But it's certainly one that needs a bit more prep time to be game changing, because it doesn't just sit back and fire from range, nor does it have the speed to really fall back after being committed to the fight. It's an assault mech through and through
@@MiraiMilizeYumekuiMirai Nah, that just means it's time for a lunch break. Your lance can dismount, enjoy a 5-course meal, and then take a quick nap before that thing gets even halfway to you
Ah one of my 3 favorite mechs; right there with the Atlas and the Marauder II. I have mine running 4 AC10's. I cored an Atlas through all its chest armor in 17 seconds (alternate arms to avoid overheating).
My favorite loadout is Quad UAC/5's and two LRM/5s. All the rest is ammo, armor and heatsinks. The slow torso twist is annoying, but that's what a ballanced lance is for.
Haha... very funny!!! 🤣 My Hero-crab is built for both, long and short distances!!! And it is more quick than most 100T Mechs... Get too close, and you are done!!! DONE!!!
These shorts are always a really good thing. Unfortunately I have to live my computer gaming life vicariously through you because frankly I can't afford a computer that will run these games as well as yours does so, thanks for the help!
I love this thing, getting the variant with 4 ballistics on its arms and shoving 4 uac's onto it just made it so anything in my direction gets a hail of bullets
MechWarrior is one of the purest Sci-Fi unverses that were ever imagined. Up to a 100 tons heavy machines, running on fusion reactors would explode an entire planet and putting the weight onto a possibly about 2m² foot, while waking, would make it stuck in pretty much every ground immediatelly. But it looks so dam cool....and the old novels are pretty dam cool action thrillers, too. #cyberpunkcoltoure
I forget who did the math but, a correctly sized atlas at around 16 meters tall would actually only have slightly more ground pressure than an abrams tank
@@typhoon1575 Interesting. The Atlas is the large main humanoid mech, right? I ask because I was playing the underground versions of Battlemech and Shadowrun in which the Grasshopper was a super light mech, while I saw a heavy version online. In Shadowrun Orks and Trolls changed names for example and some arch types like Toxic Shamane are not listed or turned NPC like the Crusader Knight and their convent structure is lost. There might be copies in P2P networks around.
I could swear the AI in HBS Battletech is coded to target King Crabs if you’re fielding one. I finally renamed mine “Bullet Magnet” because of how much punishment it would take every battle.
Whenever I played my king crab, I said to AC 20s and a large laser I would always sing that song from don’t hug me. I’m scared three specifically the part where he said he loved his pet because he’s a crab. He is a crab that’s why I love my pet he’s a king crab.
I’ll never forget when I finally got one of these in MwO. My team was communicating well and I decided I’d lead a glorious murderball over the hill and we’d avalanche into the enemy forces guns blazing. Instead everyone kept playing footsies and watched me turn i to 100tons of scrap. Still killed a mech with my claw mounted AC20s.
in videogames they usually tell you, other wise check sarna(the wiki) to find out it's intended role and compare it's stats, although some opinion gets into the mix based on pilot skill brawlers usually want good armor and devastating firepower (usually shorter range) like the Atlas, Warhammer, or King Crab skirmishers are usually fast and agile, usually want jump jets and high speed, good firepower never hurts because 1 or 2 good skirmishers can bring down the heaviest inner sphere mechs, includes things like the shadow hawk scouts are very fast, lightly armored and (usually) lightly armed, see the spider and pheonix hawk(which is a well armed scout) fire support mechs usually have poor to average armor, are slow, and carry heavy firepower for indirect fire (missiles)see the catapult and stalker for direct fire see the rifleman or Marauder one of the most important things to know is depending on what you are doing you can drastically change a mechs role with the right loadout... like a fire support king crab with gauss rifles and LRMS or a brawling marauder sometimes these altered role mechs fill the new role better than the originals too
It’s a beast but it’s got one weakness. The massive cockpit.. large bore autocannons and guass cannons or large arrays of lasers core through its cockpit really quick.
I recently got Mech Warrior 5 for my PC for free on Xbox Gamepass. Wow am I glad I got this one. It's so detailed, and the graphics look amazing through an AMD 7900 XT card @ 4k on a 55" LG OLED C1 TV. Playing on a larger screen really makes you feel like you're in the cockpit. Plus, the game has co-op mode! That's not a common enough feature these days. Which is unfortunate because that's the best thing for any campaign game.
I love the crab but good Lord does it get ripped apart quite often, and its the only assault mech ive seen get completely cored out in less than a second from full health, but it definitely has the cool factor which is why I keep it around
Honestly Baradul, you need to do voice acting for gaming. Just a hint of Arnold, a pinch of Waltz and a dash of Mads. If MW6 ever comes out, I would have them use your voice acting to create the intro as well as the Mech Training as all these games have done so over time. Keep being awesome sir. I hope one day to bump into you at a convention. cheers!
I have to ask, how do you get these shots of the mechs, do you use some kind of no clip cheat?? I love the way it follows the mechs and really shows how they move and fire
