The other songs she had to fill out early concerts were probably the songs she had from her previous band Blue Angel. Check out the ones you can find. Baby Cyndi is so cool.
The 'video' is a live cut from 1987, Cyndi recorded a live concert special titled "Cyndi Lauper in Paris." There is no official video for All through the night. The label did not commission a video; I believe it is stated in Wiki ... because her label wanted to see if she could carry a song without a video. Being in the age of MTV, the song hit #5 by airplay alone. The version with Shaggy is off her album "The body acoustic." she did a 2nd anthology collection but this time it was in acoustic form. There are several guest vocals on this project and the songs were broken down and given a more like you say country feel ... Money Changes Everything sounds more Appalachian. I would be curious to your reaction to her cover version of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" the video (if it's not blocked). I know you are not a fan of covers, but this one is unique. In the event you didn't know, Cyndi sang Time After Time with Patti LaBelle in 1985 - a Thanksgiving Special hosted by Ms. Patti. They performed it again live in 2004 for the VH1 series Divas Live. This version I feel is the better live version for their performance. And ... Cyndi re-vamped her signature hit "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" in 1995 from her original greatest hits CD. The newly revised version is titled "Hey Now (Girls Just Want to Have Fun) and she even directed a new video as well. Cheers.
The video is from a concert, (Live in Paris), but the audio is the album track. If you haven't heard the live version, look it up on youtube. The outro vocals are absolutly unearthly.
Great choice. I love Cyndi Lauper. I played the Jules Shear version and I was not impressed at all. To me, it sounds like a High School band covering the song. I also listened to the version with Shaggy on it. Nope. I wasn't feeling it. I have been kind of wondering actually, how did Shaggy get to be so famous? LOL! No disrespect to the dude, but it seems like all of the songs that I have heard him feature with another artist, could have been recorded without him and done just as well. Anyway, just my thoughts. Peace
well, it started with Boombastic and then MTv started having him on their spring break coverage and ge got into suburban kids mixtapes and MTv to go CD's and then It Wasn't Me and Angel came out out and doing a fake Jamaican accent and Miss Cleo were popular.
