I'm 64 && Fucking LOVE IT !! I met Cyndi in 82?83? Sat in studio when friend Rob Hyman( Guy with Big Hair playing guitar to her right in this Video) was working on song Time after Time together....she was kind of unknown at the time...But Will say She was even more AWESOME in person!!! We drank tequila shots & laughed after!!

I met Rob & his Band The Hooters in summer of 81 Wildwood N.J.....a friend & roommate ( John Cooper RIP....committed suicide) was playing keyboards all summer in house band at place called The Rainbow& knew him...

I was a kid in the 80s when this came out and even back then this song used to just move me and I’ve almost cry, I was so moved. It came out of some sort of longing to find someone who really understood me and loved me.

I love her. I discovered her 2007 when they constantly played "girls want to have fun" on the music tv channel I watched and then I looked at the other songs of her. My favorite is "change of heart". Sometimes I wish her career would have been as long as Madonna's.

It's funny because when we were growing up through the 80s we just thought "Oh that's just Cyndi" a quirky girl! Then as decades went by you started to realize how "talented" she was and so many Artists from that decade were!

Even in the 80s, there weren’t many like her. Her first big hit album (in her 30s - that could never happen today, especially for a female artist who is expected to use her body to sell records) was called She’s So Unusual. She actually tried to change her image and music later on in the 80s, and wasn’t as big a success with it. You should check out “She Bop.” Spoiler alert: It’s about females - a-hem - “enjoying themselves” without a guy. Hell of a song, though.

My FAVORITE Cyndi Lauper song and album. Can't thank you enough for reacting to this track. Other channels will only choose her two most overplayed hits. She's been a big heroine of mine, since age 9. Unfortunately, I couldn't copy her amazing style in 1983, was too young, and my Mother wouldn't let me. So a compromise was reached, and I went punk like Cyndi every Halloween for years.

I was 17 in 1984 (living in the Ladera Heights section of L.A.) when this song came out (I'm black btw), and I LOVED IT. A few months later, I was working in a record store (really living the teenage dream; the store had a Ticketmaster computer, so we saw EVERYBODY - and $25 was a REALLY expensive ticket at the time). I don't know if Cyndi was my primary influence (Prince certainly had something to do with it too), but I wanted to buzz cut one side of my head (I had hair halfway down my back) and dye the short side purple. When I told my father, he didn't even flinch before saying, "And where will you live after you do that?" 😆 Cyndi was 25 when she got famous and was free to express herself in any way she wanted. I still needed food and shelter lol.

I was around when cyndi first hit it big. I remember people making fun of her looks, calling her a weirdo and other derogatory names. Funny how things come around because 35 years later everybody is doing what people made fun of her for. I loved your she bop reaction too. You seem like an awesome person jayy.

Jayy, you're so right about Cyndi being absolutely one in a million. She had the coolest clothes, hair and swagger! Lots of us in the 80s tried to emulate her in whatever way we could pull off. I'll admit I did it myself! I had some seriously cool clothes, though, and some very gelled hair!

I seen her when she was filming her Time After Time video and she was not a very "nice" person! Fans were yelling n waving at her n she completely ignored everyone...her boyfriend at the time was about to walk up to everyone n she grabbed him n got on her bus...very bad first impression...she is not that nice as she seems..she only had 1 hit song at the time but acted like a diva...Im a fan of other bands n artists who are bigger n who are much kinder than her n wave n acknowledge their fans and sign autographs etc.. Maybe she was having a bad day or maybe she's just that way towards her fans? She wasn't even all that famous at the time..not nice
