G, I'm a recovering addict. 12 years clean in October with a wife and a 2 year old baby girl. Fishing is my connection to who I was before addiction. And videos like this reinforce the fact that we can all rise above. Thanks for that G. It means a lot.
Hey Mr Redding we are all so proud of you for having that inner drive to get clean outstanding I'm happy for you. My step brother is a heroin addict and I had to part ways and I haven't spoken to him in 8 yrs because he was stealing from me and my step mom maybe one day we will talk again when he is clean. GOD bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike.
She was biting that bottom lip because she felt she didn’t deserve your time and was so nervous to even approach you but somehow found the courage to speak to you and thank you hats off lady 🎉
Gman I appreciate your humility, that was a truly powerful 7 minutes and 19 seconds. I wish more people would think like you do because if they did, the world would be a better place! Keep doing what your doing brother! There is a bigger purpose than just fishing !
I too am a recovering addict with 3yrs 8ms. I have watched that same PMA video on multiple occasions. Those words have helped me through many tough times in my life, and not just talking about tough fishing trips. G man, I have never met you in person but I do believe you are a great person and have a huge heart. It touches my heart to hear this story. Much love brother. Keep doing what you do man. And to the woman who he was talking about, I want to say, good for you. These are the pieces of hope that keep other addicts pushing forward to do the next right think.
Thank you G - MAN. I thought about your PMA talks a lot while the wife and I sat in the NICU with our new born. I had never talked to my wife about your speeches and hope they got me through some very low times in my life. And the day they told me that it was going to be my last day to see my son and my wife until he got discharged i sat down in his room and seen one of the nurses had left a dry erase markers and I wrote PMA and what it ment on the window and left a note below it for my wife to see when she got to go and see him that day. And as I walked out that day I heard two nurses talking about what I wrote and they looked at me and I could tell that it hit home with them as well and they said that was one of the greatest things anybody has ever wrote so everybody could see it. So truly from the bottom of my heart thank you for being the person you are. God bless you and Lulu
What a story! I'm 2 years sober myself and I can say that it's people like you that have made that happen. Absolutely love your character and genuine nature. Thanks for all you do G-man!
G,,I've watched this video over n over. And man it never doesn't touch my soul. Amazing story. I wish the world had more professionals like you.. God Bless You G.Man and your family.
As much as I love to listen to you discuss fishing and teach others, it is when you sit, like you did at the Richmond Fishing Expo and just be Gerald, the man. To be honest and open, talking about life. It is in those times that you move even further into the making a difference in the lives of others. We don't know how we do it, we may never know we did, but GOD has chosen the moment and the words that were needed to be heard. He uses all of us as earthly angels and we may never know when it happens or to whom we it was was for. Thank you for always being open to his call. Never disappointing when I get to talk to you and Lulu. See you at the next Classic!!
Dang, a tear jerker from GMAN? Know that all the civil minded people out here who are also proud of that lady, are just as proud of you Gerald. Best of luck on your next money run.
Great stuff, man! This video is one of the reasons I like you so much. I can be pretty high strung and temperamental, too. Humility goes a long way with me, G. Keep being the quirky, country boy that can just plain fish his guts out. You just being genuine is why we love you so much.
Man you have a god given gift I could listen to you talk about the color of the dirt on Egypt! Keep doing what your doing and glad to have been able to watch you over the years.
Gman your the best and have gotten me through more rough times than I can speak about I’ve watched your videos for the past couple of years. Please keep it man the world needs more of you
That’s what it’s all about influencing others in a positive way instead of only caring about the trophies and money. Appreciate the video G , can’t wait for the next one
G-Man what a statement. You will never know what an inspiration you are to me n so many others out there. God has truly blessed you n gave you an amazing story for so many to hear. G man this is why your a inspiration to any aspiring angler it’s the stuff off camera off script that hit hard. Your why I’ve made the decision to sign up for a series and chase my dream start small just like you said small ball. Thanks for everything you do for not only bass and bass fishing but for how you’ve reached people of all ages thanks you for everything.
GMAN, you’d be surprised at how many people’s lives you have touched. I stopped fishing completely after My best friend an Army Buddy and State Trooper who I fished and hunted with for many years was killed 11 years ago. But after watching you and following you on Facebook I’ve began to want to start Bass fishing again. I don’t have a boat so I just go and fish from the bank when and where I can. So please keep on keeping on and being that Positive Role Model you are GMAN.
You keep it real! Your the person now you were when you first started pro fishing! But we all grow as we go on our own walks of life!! Life changes us everyday but you all are role models for everyone from all walks of life or issues or problems they might have! Your not a sell out to your sport! If I had a know you 20 years ago an we fished a buddy night tournament that guy in that boat then is the same guy we see know! Great Respect for you since I’ve started watching your career! Keep it up!!
Awesome! Being a recovering pain pill addict, seeing how much fishing has helped my progressions, and so many times having a fishing video help my attitude I love hearing this story. You go girl (if u see this) I'm praying for you. Fishing is the cure.
G, I learned about PMA in 1974, when I was 18 years old. I have been telling people about this Attitude ever since. It works. I worked for a company the have a company come and teach a few employees about The Dynamics of Personal Leadership and PMA. They must have saw something in me I didn't know. Now I'm a Business Owner for 28 years, married for 44 years. You will have hurdles in your life you can not let them stop you, Fine a way around them. and keep a PMA.
Never more a gentleman of the sport...spreaker, the motivation....g man talks of pma mr swindell you are living proof!! "Everyday i try to better myself" most powerful words ever spoken!! Thank you sir!!
Very cool G-man. Fishing is bigger. Fishing is my life. You probably saved her life. My best fishing buddy literally saved my life. I almost "bought the farm" in 2017 while fishing on Sam Rayburn & had I not been w/them & picked another day to fish by myself OR not fish at all- the fact that I did & was w/my buddy there to Call 911 & have an ambulance waiting to get me to Lufkin, TX- 100% sure I'd be dead right now. That event changed "ALL" the negative aspects of my life. I'm a better angler now & because of fishing- a better person, because fishing IS bigger.
G man you may just be a fisherman but God has a bigger plan that you are obviously a part of , you and Lulu . you know that Jesus had a special place in his heart for fishermen and i have a feeling that he still does . keep on doing what you do and you will have many more stories to share with us . i am a big fan of yours . keep up the good work.
Mr.Swindel you got it man PMA fishing God , before you were famous I knew you were big.Doesnt have that much to do with fishing, but yet the aspect of communication is strong.Love you're baits.Always behind you.Chef Todd Bogeart
You are a huge inspiration to me and have helped me overcome my addiction is was the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through a lot of dark times to say the least. You help me bring brought back my passion for living, fishing, keeping a positive mindset and my faith everyday it has been a long road this past 5 years but With great pride, I can now say I have been 100 percent sober for 3 years now this past month. I hope one day I get to meet you and share a few stories keep up all the great work you do! I really want to start telling my story now to help others and let them now the battle they are going through is temporary and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Hope you come across this message one day Gerald , your fan Shane.
Because of PMA, during the Indiana State tournament this past weekend at Rocky Point in southern Indiana, my son, in another boat, watched me lose a fish that would have put me on the state team. I never raised my voice, I did not throw my rod down, I just place the rod on the deck of the boat without its lure, pick up another rod, and went back to work. Thank you so much for helping me overcome IKE fits. PMA can do alot for people in this word today, if they would only take the time to learn. Thank You so Much!
Mr. G-Man... I've watched you for over 10 years, and you are by FAR my favorite pro fisherman. Not because you're one of the best, but because who you are as a man. I feel a deep admiration for you, and all you do. For the sport, and for your fans. I love ya, G. What I wouldn't give to share a boat deck with you. PEACE&LOVE to both you and Lulu. Keep doing what you're doing, sir. With much respect.. Rick.
Brother fishing helped me overcome a LIFELONG battle with addiction. When you don't miss a day, everything you do is associated with using. It was hard to find something I could sink time into that I hadn't done high, and then I found fishing. after 5+ years sober, I can tell you without hesitation that fishing is bigger than most people consider. Being on the water, surrounded by nature, lost in self reflection.... it's like you have the world on a remote control. The water is where I wrestle my demons. It's where I give thanks. It's where I take my wife on the weekends to catch up. When I'm tired, it's where I find my energy. When I'm wound up, it's where I find my calm. Catching a fish is a bonus, but it's not the reward. GMAN, I found myself on the water. Thank you for sharing your story. I truly appreciate it.
Great story. I live here on rickwood caverns rd. Once u have self awareness u have it figured out. The most important thing we do is influence others both positive or negative. Watch the movie5 people u meet in heaven and u wil get it. John here
Awesome story! G, that's why people love you, you give off a positive vibe, that's an addiction itself, but that's a good addiction. Heck if I'm having a bad day, I pull up one of your videos or some podcast you're on and it just makes me feel better about things. I know you're a busy man but would love for you to do a podcast. Obviously we all love to fish, that's why we're here but you could talk about anything and it would be interesting. God gave you a gift man, you're using it also. Years ago I would listen to Zig Ziggler when I needed a little motivation, today I listen to you. Keep on doing what you do.
A lot of our larger than life hero’s and athletes would have walked away from that situation. Mr. Swindle I didn’t know who you were other than a professional fisherman but now I am one of your biggest fans. In my life I have watched athletes and professional figures walk away from adoring fans like they weren’t even there but you sir are a true professional and man. Thank you for being who you are.
I'm a grateful recovering alcoholic and come this August will be sober for 11 years. Drinking took away everything that I loved, especially fishing. I'm 65 and taking care of my elderly parents now. Some days are tough but better than anyday I ever had while drinking! Sharing expericence, strength and hope is vital to everyone on every level. You never know when you may share or say something that just might save someone's life. Thanks Gerald for your story.
What you do is what you love to do . You have no idea just how many people you have helped get through life’s challenges. God has put you where you are because the Lord knows that there is someone out there who you can reach out to and help. An addict will always be an addict till the day they die and every day is a battle. PMA is a gift a tool that we / I use to make it to the next day. The rubber bands are off my wrist and life is getting better. Keep on keeping on Brother.
WOW G^MAN im a 42 year old man and im teared up super bad right now , fishing has helped my life stuggles , thank you G for being you , we love you brother
Consider you are a fisher of men! So many people follow you because you are a special humble human being that can deliver a message with humor or seriousness and still get the message across! (And because you are a great fisherman!) Thanks GMan! 🙏🙌
One of the reasons you are a fan favorite and in my book one of the greatest gman... it goes beyond fishing.. and you know that...you have made an impact in people's lives on and off the water. Was very cool to have gotten to meet you at Pickwick last year during the Toyota owners tournament. Keep up the good work GMan. God bless and good luck....PMA
Thank you for sharing, this is much deeper than fishing and let the kindness shine thru to change more lives on your trying days. Hopefully one day I can meet you g man! From good ol Iowa
Man G that was deep .it is amazing how time flies .I been watching you fish for years you make me laugh you make me cry .but to watch you turn gray haired like my self has been an honor. You have turned into a great role model for the younger generation behind you.
That's awesome stuff, G-Man. I am proud of her, too! Positive mental attitude is something i have tried to instill in my own life over the last 5 years an it helps. A LOT!
G-man, this is a great story. From the day that each of my daughters were born, I told them “no matter where you are, no matter what you are doing, SOMEBODY is ALWAYS watching!” My youngest daughter is now married, and getting ready to have her first, baby, and to this day both daughters are amazed when they find that somebody has been “watching!”. A persons actions will speak volumes, when they least expect it. Both Good and Bad. Thee PMA video is a great video that I have shared with a good number of friends and family!........Thank You!
G man I’ve watched you for years brother and you have always in my eyes been a class act . Keep doing what you’re doing man .! Utmost respect from here in Knoxville !!!
G-Man I've been clean five years next month and when I first got sober it was my reconnection to the person I was before addiction also. I started following you in 2016 after your big win I watched your PMA videos they have had a big impact on my life. From sleeping in your old truck at the boat ramp to your KVD impersonations. You have given me great hope and it helps to try to be the best version of myself that I can be everyday. Thank you for being you and all that you do I appreciate you.
