He faced persecution for his political beliefs and was imprisoned several times, both by British colonial authorities and later by the Pakistani government. He was jailed for his alleged involvement in the Rawalpindi Conspiracy Case in 1951.
Faiz also went into self-imposed exile in Beirut and later in London due to political pressure. In the confines of imprisonment, Faiz found freedom in the boundless expanse of his words, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of oppression. Embracing the Progressive Writers' Movement, Faiz became a beacon of hope for the oppressed, weaving his words into a tapestry of resistance.
He was deeply committed to social justice and political activism. Faiz Sahib became more than a poet. He became a symbol of hope, a voice for the voiceless, and a beacon of light in the darkest of times. His most famous works include "Bol," "Nisar Main Teri Galiyon Ke," and "Hum Dekhenge," which later became an anthem of resistance during political movements.
