Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
We can also use other tools to remove hard ear wax, foreign bodies, peeling dead skin or for ear infection removal.
All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green.
We post new ear cleaning videos Monday - Friday at 9PM GMT so if you find ear wax removal satisfying please consider subscribing to our channel.
Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

Question for you. For those of us outside the UK, can you talk about how a person would go about training to be an Audiologist where you live? Education and training? Not just a wax removal specialist, but a certified Audiologist. If you know the similarities/differences between your training in the UK and other areas of the world, that would be interesting as well. Thank you.

Guy I have had a stonking cold for weeks ( joy NOT lol ) ears and tubes where in agony so i bit the bullet after wanting to bang my head on the wall. Told I had to wait 2 weeks to see Dr as not emergency!!! Fortunately the wonderful ear nurse was in the back of reception and although she was due lunch she spirited me off for an exam. I had lost a bullet sized chunk of wax in the night fromm my left ear after treating both ears with warm water soaks and gallons of medical grade olive oil ( learned not to use otex from you guys ) nurse got Dr. In and for the next. Few days I have to use earcalm to treat a mild infection as I'm allergic to certain antibiotics. If it doesn't work then it's onto the ones I can til it's sorted...the Dr has informed reception if I need to be seen about my ears it is an emergency as I'm partially deaf in both and atm can't wear my hearing aids so it's even affecting my speech a little. If my ears need wax removal I'm coming to you all the way from Bristol with my partner from nr Bath as I don't trust anyone else

_Lamina_ is a general anatomical term meaning "plate" or "layer" and _laminated_ (or lamellated) means "made of laminae", so it's a medically accurate description. If you want to avoid food analogies, the closest thing I can think of is paper mache.

That manoeuvre you performed with the St. Bart's hook at the end of the procedure could have been performed near the beginning with a slightly deeper placement of the hook into the matrix, and thus would have shortened the procedure time to a fraction.

Rhys as much as I love the earwax I will confess that you suddenly coming out with those tattoos at an age of, shall we say over 30 (?), intrigued me. BTW you’ve never shared them with us and I’m betting I’m not the only one who would love you to share. Maybe devote an episode? Why not ask everyone out there and see what the consensus is. I wanted to get a tattoo a few years ago when my beloved husband was alive. Just one mind you, small and tasteful. Does anyone out there believe that? I didn’t think so. Well my husband (whom I loved with all my heart) suddenly put his large size 13 foot down, hard. “NO” he exclaimed! “No tattoos. Absolutely not. You can pierce your ears as many times as you want and have room for and I’ll buy diamonds for all the holes. But no tattoos.” Since this was maybe the second time in 35 years (and I don’t remember the first) that he’d ever said no to me, I was surprised. But I thought if he felt so strongly that I should give in and I did. My daughter backed him up saying I couldn’t stand the needles. Not true but oh well. OK fast forward to today. In 2021 my husband passed away. It’s been a rough 2 years since we were together 38 years but I’m trying to adjust. Last year I became aware of a British boy band called Collabro (there were a few years when I was tending to Alex and frankly hadn’t kept up with BGT, a favorite show). I got caught up with them, following their success and final split. One member in particular, the beautiful tenor, Thomas J. Redgrave, caught my eye from day 1. A number of reasons I’m sure, but his pure tenor soaring out, perfect pitch and tonal quality kept me mesmerized. Well as Simon put it “Britain really has got talent”. However in the period from 2014 (the start of the journey) until now, Thomas did something that caught my eye instead of my ear. He acquired two complete sleeves of tattoos. Now Thomas is a committed gamer and all his tattoos are characters from his favorite game (or games), something I know nothing about. But the tats were all done in that watercolor style with minimal outline. I am an artist, was married to an incredible artist and I know artwork when I see it. Now to get to the point (finally, I know), I began to think. I thought a small, tasteful tattoo, commemorating my husband and I. He’s not here to object soooo ….. Well as I thought, I began getting advice. My daughter decided to support me (once your kid hits their forties you never know what they’ll do) and gave me the name of a parlor where the guy is a true artist who even does portraits. That kind of opened the floodgates; once I thought about a portrait of Alex, I began to think of a number of items that represented special interests of ours or were private to us, etc. And so I decided that nothing less than a full sleeve would do. I’m fairly cool with pain, well not having my arm cut off obviously, but I think as long as it’s done in a number of sessions, I think I’ll be ok. I’m going to donate plasma for a few months to help pay for it because this artist only accepts full day clients and it’s $1,000 per day (not sure how many pounds that is but you all probably know). Ultimately it may seem crazy for a 70 year old woman to embark on this but somehow it feels right. Hope I didn’t bore you all but actually the main thrust here was to say that I’d love to know more about your tats Rhys and I’m sure I’m not alone. Thanks for listening and keep up the fascinating videos. I remain mesmerized by the delicacy of touch you and Taylor have.
