I am, of course, impressed with your skill as a woodworker, but I am equally impressed with your ability to talk to the camera. I feel you're talking to ma and not lecturing. It makes a huge difference!
@EpicWoodworking
@EpicWoodworking 3 года назад
Thank you for your kind words Ken, that means more to me than you know. When I started talking to the camera a few years ago it was an unnatural experience to say the least. I realized communicating naturally and effectively in that way was going to be as much a learned craft I needed to develop as had been the woodworking side. I have been enjoying the process of learning to “be” on camera because it brought back a little feeling of the risky venture of the unknown…wondering “Can I even get good at this?” So thank you for saying that! See you on the stream! Tom

My favourite wood working channel. Not only are the hosts the best on RU-vid, they focus on period furniture which is my favourite genre. I enjoyed the introduction on this video. It reminds me of a time in my youth when I opened a retail store. 35 years ago. I just followed my gut (it wasn't a furniture store). But the friends and the adventures had was a really special part of my life and you reminded me of that when you started describing why you first started RU-vid production. Awesome videos. Thank you.

Give your camera lady a microphone so when she repeats viewers questions to you we will all be able to hear them.

Thanks Dave. She actually has a microphone, so it must have been working poorly…we’ll have to check that out. 🤔😎

As a hobbyist who still works full time and travels a lot, gains in my woodworking skills come slowly. I’m loving woodworking - it gives me something to do now that the kids are gone, but it is a little more solitary than I’m used to. I am infinitely grateful that you decided to “open the doors.” It is really helpful to me and guys like me in learning to enjoy more and be frustrated less by my own learning curve. Sincerest thanks, to you and the camera lady!

Hi Tom, the desk is awesome so beautiful, the big leaf maple and walnut together explodes!!!! along with the excellent design and finish. What away to celebrate the 100th episode of SNL I had fun. I have been watching since December of 2019, and have enjoyed Kris and you so much. I also have learned a great amount of woodworking skills and techniques from the best. Although I am not working with you in person I consider you my mentor and you have been inspirational to me in all you do. Thank you Tom and Kris, God Bless you both to continue doing more SNL's and special project courses. I hope to meet you both some day, I know the 3 events coming up would be a perfect time to meet, but right now the timing is not good for me. See you on SNL and this Saturday.

Masterpiece, okay ... So , no improvements could be made ?
@EpicWoodworking
@EpicWoodworking 5 месяцев назад
To be honest, I’m never comfortable using the term as it relates to something I have made. There has never been a piece I’ve finished that I didn’t think I would do at least a little something different that might improve it next time. I imagine that is a feeling most of us have, and I’m guessing by your comment you can relate to that. The title “masterpiece” is just that, a title…could use a little improvement don’t you think? Thanks for watching and helping me to think 👍

For me you have the best educational content on RU-vid. These are long, no lie, but it’s real, and comfortable, and most important informative. Great job and I hope you keep doing what you’re doing. Look forward every Thursday.

Wow, thanks Justin! I hate editing and live video so the live video format is favorable, and it seems to add a certain kind of authenticity that’s closer to real life. It means a lot to hear you like the format, even though it’s “long” 😎 Thanks again! 👍

Hi Tom ,congratulations on your 100 SNL . Camera Lady too. An amazing design. Simplicity goes a long way. Its incredible how wood you chose here can be a game changer . Beautiful big leaf maple. I have been following you for several years now. Every SNL is so worth my time. I wish I had more time to devote in the shop. Will be at it again soon. The project list never seems to be caught up. Congrats again and a great Q and A afterwards too.

I am getting emotional just listening to your opening comments. I found your channel about a year ago and immediately became a subscriber. Thank you Tom for all you do.

I subrcribed the first time I watched one of your videos. Being in Scotland, the time difference means I never see the live videos as they stream, but always like to catch up. I ran across the room to see the desk being unveiled (even though I could have rewound at any time). Beautiful work. Yours are the sort of standards I aspire to as a maker of furniture, and I really appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and answer any questions that are thrown your way. Really inspirational.

Thank you so much, it’s really inspirational to me that you are watching from Scotland! Thank you for your kind words, they mean more than you know. I thoroughly enjoy this format, live video suits me. And it has been a pleasant surprise so many, like you, seem to enjoy it too. Thanks again! 👍😎

@@EpicWoodworking Thanks for taking the time to reply. This personal touch is lovely to see. After the summer I go into my final year of furniture studies at college and I will have to choose a reproduction project. If you approve, I'd like to bookmark this as a potential candidate. Keep up the great work. It's immaculate.

Thank you Jim. I thoroughly enjoyed designing and making it! And it’s so nice to be able to offer the full-size drawings and video course too…unlike the way I used to work where it would have been simply delivered to a clients home and not seen much by the wider public. Thanks again! 👍😎
