Hello frens :3 I hope everyone is staying safe, happy and connected.

( double majorin) .And my other question is that which one is better? Speacialist, two majors or one major and two minors?how to understand which one is better for us ?

Hello Kim, I want to apply for a PharmD after my A levels. I am required to take MAT135H1 as one of my prerequisites but I don't know whether I need math A levels to gain admission. By the way what high school educational system (IB, A-Levels, AP, etc) did you do, and what subjects did you do.

Hey Kim, your videos have been so helpful to me, especially as an international student! I'll be attending UTSG for Life Sciences and at this point I'm interested in doing the same double major as you. Just wondering - you said you took PSY100 as a prereq but I couldn't find this listed under requirements for the Immunology or Neuroscience majors? Thank you so much!

Hi there, I hope you are doing well! Thanks for supporting my channel, make sure you subscribe and watch other uoft-related videos that are available on my channel! Congrats on your admission to uoft lifesci, I'm sure you'll accomplish great things here! Back then, PSY100 was part of the enrolment requirements for neuro major but I believe they have taken PSY100 out recently. Hope this helps, lmk if you have more questions! best wishes for a successful year at uoft! cheers, kim

Hey Kim! So for the BIO130/120H1 and CHM135/135H1 courses it says that there is a prerequisite of OSSBIOLOGY and I have no idea what this means! It doesn't look like a course. I did IB Biology so I was wondering whether this would be okay for a prerequisite?
@kimm-ing2666

Hello Mankiu, I hope you are doing well! I believe you are fine because some of my friends who did IB in high school had no problem taking 1st year lifesci courses at UTSG! However, feel free to confirm with your college registrar or biology/chemistry undergrad office about using IB bio as prerequisite for those courses. lastly, feel free to check out my latest video regarding "course enrolment", don't miss out on my tips for enrolment! cheers, kim.

hi! I was wondering if first years are suppose to enroll into both programs and courses for first year at the same time? Like, do we enroll into the programs we want to take before the fall of first year at the same time we are choosing courses or do we enroll into the programs once our first year is finished and we have completed the prerequisite courses? Thanks for the video!

Hi Kim. Is picking 5 courses every semester a lot because there’s labs and/or tutorials for each/almost each subject (Bio, Chem and Math) . If that is a norm at UofT, how do people manage this along with electives? I am going to UTM for life sci in September and I feel like just the math chem and bio are so much 😂.
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
Hello Chloe, I hope you are doing well! Most lifesci students will enroll 5 courses per semester if they plan on completing their degree in 4 years without taking any summer courses. However, first year can be hard and some people might drop some courses after first few weeks of school because of the workload, stress etc. Developing good study habits (eg. follow study schedule, study smart, attend tut, start assignments/ lab reports early) will put you in a better position than people who doesn't have one! I had to experiment/ change my study technique multiple times in first year, and it took me some time + bad midterms to find what fits me. My best advice to first year students is to stick with it no matter how challenging it is and ask for help early, it will end the way you want it to if you believe in yourself! Good luck Chloe, you got this! 💪

What courses are considered electives to complete the breadth requirement?
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
Hello Maria, Since you are admitted to lifesci, I would consider courses that are not completed as part of your future POSt requirement as electives. eg. you want to major in Biology, any courses that are not part of BIO major completion requirement, I would consider them as electives. Please watch my latest video, I specifically used BIO major as an example in that video to answer your questions.

Hey there! according to UTM's academic calendar (student.utm.utoronto.ca/calendar/program_list.pl#GH), I believe you can do a Neuroscience specialist but I don't think the immunology program is offered at UTM. I highly recommend you to check with the registrar's office or the lifesci department at UTM to confirm this info as I am not familiar with the lifesci program there. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hello! Just wanted to let you know i am really benefiting from your videos lately i have a question though: I have been admitted to life sciences and i want to major in biology next year and i can’t find the prerequisite courses required. And also should i take prerequisite courses for my minors?
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
Hello Maria, I hope you are doing well! I recommend you to watch my previous video about course selection, you should use the planner from degree explorer to help you figure out exactly what courses you need as part of the completion requirement. Since biology major is an open enrollment program, there isn't any "prerequisite course" you need to "enter" the program as long as you have completed 4.0 credits after first year. In the academic calendar (under completion requirement), it says: "First Year (2.0 FCEs): BIO120H1; BIO130H1; ( CHM135H1, CHM136H1)/ CHM151Y1" However, I believe you can take courses above in first year because they need to be "completed" for your programs anyways. Also, these courses are perquisites for many 2nd-year courses you need to take for BIO major. Take a look at this link i got from the academic calendar for biology major! fas.calendar.utoronto.ca/biology-major-science-program-asmaj2364 To answer you 2nd question, regardless of specialist/major/ minor program, you must take courses under enrollment requirement (check academic calendar) in order to enter your intended POSt. To ensure accuracy/ clarity, please consult college registrar and undergrad coordinator from the EEB department for professional academic advising & support. Tysm for your support and I wish you all the best!

Is GGR107H1 a hard course because I am trying to focus on BIO 120 and 130, CHM 135, and 136, and MAT135 and 136. As well, I am also taking HPS100H1, and a first-year seminar course too. @kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
Hello Samantha, GGR107 is pretty doable and you are at an advantage if you are good at writing essays. However, there are lots of readings to do for this course, 2-3 readings (each paper ~10-20 pages long) were assigned weekly. If you google "ggr107 course syllabus", you will find old syllabus online and use it as a rough reference to determine if this course fits your interest. Good luck!
