Frankie Howerd as Lurcio the Roman slave set back in 72 AD Pompeii. Always awash with voluptuous women, the program ran on BBC for only a few seasons. One of the funniest segments was with the Young Master (son of the Senator that Lurcio worked for)..who was forever falling in love, and was always writing "Odes". The Ode was always worded in sexual context with the last word obvious but never rhymed, leaving you to finish it! Here is a collection of Odes!

this is great, thank you for uploading it! There used to be one full series on RU-vid, but unfortunately its no longer around. When I watched it a while back, I thought, "I haven't laughed this hard in years!" So when recently I came to show a friend, I was disappointed to find it gone, very sad....BRING BACK LURCIO!!! UP POMPEII!!!!!

when i saw the advert for the new recent release of the film of the same name some months back,i smiled...i thought that it will nothing like the Pompeii that i knew on B.B.C. t.v.quite some years back....though looking dated, non the less it's timeless with the late Frankie Howard as sharp as ever....Thanks for posting...

Pretty sad when you look back on it now, same jokes, over and over again..repeatedly modified......so banal at it's basics..but that was the time and that was the humour. Thanks God comedy moved forward...
