When it comes to Google Ads, there are three main match types: broad match, phrase match, and exact match.
🎁 Free gift (7-Day Online Marketing Jumpstart): www.scottredga...
Broad match is the most flexible option, allowing your ad to show up for a wide variety of searches that are related to your keywords. Phrase match is slightly more restrictive as it allows you to show your ads on searches that include the meaning of your keyword. Exact match is the most restrictive option, only showing your ad when someone searches for a very close match to your keyword phrase. Which option(s) should you choose? In this video we’ll discuss the similarities and differences of the match types, and what combination could work best for your business.

Super informative! My go-to is Phrase Match, but the advice to use a combination of Exact & Phrase (with a higher bid on Exact) is really helpful! I'll absolutely be using it.

Hello, how can you bid higher on exact compare to phrase match? Using Maximize Clicks Strategy.
@ScottRedgate

Hi! You would need to separate the keywords into different campaigns.

@legalprodefense4991 you could set a lower max CPC in the second campaign vs original campaign

Great content! I always start on broad, run for a week, then eliminate irrelevant or overly expensive search terms then go down to exact on the ones that hit. I have a question though, if my campaign is set to sales, max conversions, will exact match hinder progress or negatively affect the campaign? It always recommends you do broad with this type of setup. Thank you!
@ScottRedgate
@ScottRedgate 6 месяцев назад
Not a bad strategy! Well done. Throwing some exact match into the mix won’t hinder progress.

Great content, Scott, thank you! Real scenario: what if I add a keyword as a phrase match and I notice that the best conversion is being done on that keyword in its exact form? Can I add it both as a Phrase, to squeeze clicks from all the variations, and as Exact match, to have more control over its Exact form budget (like bidding more on the Exact than on the Phrase keyword)? Or this would make me compete against myself in any way?
@ScottRedgate
@ScottRedgate 8 месяцев назад
Hi! Sometimes I will use same keyword as different match types but place them in separate campaigns, and place the other’s match type as a negative to that campaign. It depends on the situation and account!

Thanks! Let's say I sell Iphones. If my goal is to show for everything which contains Iphone 7, should I add Iphone 7 as a broad match? If I do exact or phrase, I won't show for Iphone white 7 for example, and this will make me loose visitors. The other options is to do a phrase match for as many options as possible to be able to capture as much traffic as possible but there will be plenty of combinations. Thank you!
@ScottRedgate
@ScottRedgate Год назад
Hi! Phrase match (in its current form) will capture most of the iphone 7 variations you mention. 👍

@@evgeniyordanov5031 a bit more detail in this video, but phrase match acts like 'modified broad match' of the past.

Would you advice bidding on broad match keywords if the search terms report is full of broad match keyword suggestions? I have already bid on exact and phrase match keywords and I'm not seeing any conversions. Not sure how to scale the account because it's a very niche market we are advertising for. Thank you!

So does updated phrase match not use the + symbol? If not, what does it use? Quotation marks?
@ScottRedgate
@ScottRedgate Год назад
Hey! From Google: "New keywords can't be added using the legacy Broad Match Modifier notation (+keyword). Legacy BMM keywords will continue to serve, but will behave as phrase match keywords"

In my opinion (random no body idiot on the internet) Exact match Unless you have a huge budget and want to constantly adjust your google ads I'm this case use Exact and Phrase If you want to lose money Use broad
