My father was a master gardener. His gardens were showstoppers. No weeds, flowers in between rows of vegetables and perfectly manicured raspberry bushes straight down the middle and bordering the east side. They were beautiful. He rarely grew corn because of what it did to the soil. He was always rotating the plants to replenish the nutrients. I'm a flower gardener. Container gardens for vegetables occasionally. This year I'm going to plant fresh herbs on the deck in a window box and tomatoes and green beans in containers. I live on a small lot in the city. I use a bloom booster on my tomato plants in the beginning. It was an experiment and it works. Tons of tomatoes on a single plant. Very nice, thank you.
Hi Jessica. Your property is just beautiful, like a small piece of heaven on earth. Love the sweet serenity of it all, especially the animals. Brings back many happy memories of my chilchood when my grandparents had a farm. LOVE your videos. Blessings
I love your videos. You're little helper is so cute. My Daddy use to tease me when I would help him plant in our garden. He would tell me to make sure I didn't plant the seeds upside down or they would grow to China. I miss my Daddy.
This was wonderful! You are in a totally different season than we are up here in Massachusetts. It is still often in the forties here. The ducks or geese were SO happy in the kiddy pool!!! lol. When you showed how the chickens ate up the portion of the yard and then said how this would help the grass grow, I was surprised. When I see bare patches up here, they stay bare until we put down grass seed. And seeing the pony take a nap was a first for me. I didn't think they laid down. Must be shocking how little some of us know. Looks like your gardens are doing great and it will be nice to have that extra gardener as she grows!!! Thanks for sharing this!
So yes they eat the grass which provides food for them but they also help fertilize it with their waste so in a way they are providing better nutrients to the soil so that the grass can grow back better. It sounds odd but it actually works. Kind of the same concept of adding the bag cow manure that you get at the garden store to put in your gardens to help it grow. And horses can sleep staring up but Hawk loves to lay down and nap in the sun! :) Thanks for watching!
Jessica What a great garden. When you finish there how about hop on the plane and come to my place in country side of Australia and show me how and what to do. So far within the 2 years we are here I managed to grow capsicum tomatoes parsley (very slow) and rosemary. Tried several time basil but some reason dies. Not sure what to do. Love your animals they are so cute. 😍 looking forward to see at least your garden flurish.
Always enjoying ur videos about the farm life. I just can’t figured out how u find time for all of this n ur DIY videos. U r a busy gal plus taking care of ur daughter. I was so happy watching the animals also the big grey duck or should I say goose n there were several... were they geese’s ? They look so sweet swimming in the blue pool. I do envy u. I’ve always wanted to have lots of land n lots of animals of all kinds but that never became reality for me. My husband definitely isn’t farm incline LOL. I to wish u a wonderful n enjoyable springtime. ♥️😊👍🐴🐓💐ducks.
Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I am a city girl. LOL. Do goose and ducks eggs taste different from a chicken egg? And why don't your geese and ducks fly away? Love your videos. You have an adorable family and sweet farm pets.❤❤
There are never dumb questions. So they do taste a little different. The yokes are bigger and more rich in taste and protein and duck eggs are great to bake with. These types of ducks that we have don’t fly in the sense that you see a duck in the wild fly. Sure they can maybe fly several feet only a few feet off the ground but they are also pretty docile and have been in human contact since they were born. Now our geese can fly a little better. Our male goose has gotten out before and flow a field length. He however won’t fly away because his mate is still in the pen. They mate for life like penguins do. Plus we do clip their wings if they do fly more than we want them to. It doesn’t hurt them at all. More like a haircut on one side of the wing feathers.
@@TheRetroFarmhouse thank you for answering my questions. That goose egg was huge compared to the chicken eggs! My hubby and I are wanting to plant a small garden, so we both watched your video. Stay safe! ❤❤
