This is an update video where I cover-off the lowering & roof fix modifications for the Lego Technic Porsche 911 RSR model in more detail to provide extra information and answer the most commonly asked questions posted in the comments section in my original video.
Instructions to lower the model can be found here: rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-2140...
** Note: If for some reason the designer's site is down or the instructions download link has expired please contact the designer directly on Rebrickable via a message. I don't own or manage the instructions for the lowering modification - they are the IP of the designer RB-instructions. **

What a great video! I've just stumbled upon it whilst building my own 911 RSR. I've completed both the roof mod and the lowering mod per your video. Thank you for the information on these. I've also figured out a way of moving the light 'bug eyes' inward by 1 stud and back by 1 stud. It makes the lights sit 'in' the car a bit more, so they don't sit so proud of the bodywork.

Hi again Steven, the suspension on my Bugatti model is a bit different due to me building JB70's version of the model. But I did find the suspension on the front still 'sticks'. Swapping out the 3L blue pin in the control arm assembly for a light tan frictionless pin did help (but did not fully fix it), see here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1qWy5Uygv5A.html

Hey crafted, just wanted to ask what exactly steps 3 and 5 are asking you to do in the suspension lowering? Is it asking you to push the axle to the right in step 3 then to the left in step 5? Thanks for the video mate
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks Год назад
Yes that's exactly right, the designer is asking you to shift the axle over to the right in step 3 so that you can fit the assembly in step 4. And then in step 5 the designer is asking you to shift the axle to the left up through the assembly. It's been 2 years since I looked at this! But from memory I recommend you double up on the assemblies placed in step 4 so that you have one either side and use a 4L axle. I hope this makes things clear!

Nice video again...but I still get the idea that the front wheels aren't centered in the wheel arch, and I mean from front to back..the in front is bigger, one bushing should do the trick...if I build this set again i will try it out and of course I'll send you the results... maybe I'll build one with minimal suspension and a low stance.... success with the next video

Just another thought, instead of buying the parts, is it possible to completely cut the springs from the suspension or remove the spring. That way there’s no force pushing the car upwards?

Hi Parsa, yes I think that could be possible. And someone else commented that they were going to try the same thing. @CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 7 месяцев назад
You would have put a lot of weight on it to lower it, and what would you use? ...the mod is incredibly easy to do and you only need a handful of parts. Have a look at the instructions provided by the guy who did this mod and you will see how easy it is, all the best with your build!
@warrenader27
@warrenader27 3 года назад
Very nice, but why not just remove the round white part at step 467? Then you can push the black pin in 1 more stud, giving it the same outcome.
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 3 года назад
Hi CJWarr3n - yes you can do that if you like. But I went with using the 2L pins with axle approach as otherwise you can see the ends of the exposed 2L pins with the stop bush through the gaps in the roof at the front near the Porsche sticker if you push them through. You could of course hide the ends with some 1x1 round beams if you like but this is fiddly to do if you have already assembled the model. The great thing about Lego is there are lots of different parts and ways to tackle any problem or mod your set!

Hi Mr Durva - checkout the note I put in the comments section of this video. If there is a problem with the link you'll need to send the mod designer a message on Rebrickable to ask him to fix his site. I don't have any control over it unfortunately so I can't help.

@@CraftedBricks I've tried and unfortunately it doesn't work for my region so I guess I will have to message the user and hopefully get a response

@@mrdurva9532 the designer seems pretty responsive when I've messaged him when I was making this video. He's based in Germany. I believe he wants to have his instructions on his own site so that he can showcase his other MOCs and Mods, I understand it. But it would have been better if he'd have gone for a normal publish on Rebrickable for this free mod. I hope he get's back to you soon!

step 467 u just cant take the round whitr thing out and push inside the black pin no need to replace. and white round things u use in blue pins
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks 3 года назад
Hi scorpionjb4ever - I've covered this before in another comment reply. If you remove the 1x1 round white beam parts and simply push the 2L black pins with the stop bushes in, the ends of those pins are visible through the roof at the front which looks odd. You could in theory fiddle around and put the white 1x1 round white beam parts on the ends of those black pins in the center area of the roof to cover them up, but this is difficult to do when the model is already assembled. It's easier I think to use the alternate pins I've suggested. The great thing about Lego though is that you can solve a problem many different ways!

I just finished building my set, and I think you're needlessly overcomplicating the roof mod. All you need to do is 1) remove the toggle joint from step 466 and 2) move the outer white part from 467 forward one block onto that red axle. Then you can simply remove the rest of the subassembly from step 467. No extra parts needed.

Hi turboenvy, I see where you are going with your take on the mod. Sure that is a valid option! But doing this way may mean that the line of the 19M flex rod that gives that curve to the roof and A-pillar may look a bit off. That said the great thing about modding Lego sets is that there are always multiple ways to tackle a problem and you are free to mod your set in any way you want to!

I'm not one to crap on anyones parade but i found an even better way to modify the roof to get rid of the gap, no extra parts necessary and no parts removed from their original location, I believe it to be a better, sleeker outcome.

Hi GK - the great thing about our Lego hobby is that there are always multiple ways to mod and improve sets and it's often up to personal taste. Do you have a video or photos published online of your alternate solution?

Am I the only one who has problems with the rear wheels rubbing when you push it backwards?
@CraftedBricks
@CraftedBricks Год назад
Hi Tyson - I'm assuming this is for the lowered model? I don't recall having that issue, but to be fair I just have my model on display in a cabinet, I don't play with it. Can you see what the rear wheels are connecting with? Maybe the body work or chassis on you model needs some adjustment?

Hi Peter - what do you mean by this and can I help you? BrickLink is in English. I think you mean RB-Instructions site where he hosts his mod instructions. Yes he is German and that site is German. If viewing his site via Google Chome right click on the page and select to Translate to English/or your language. But this is not really needed - just click on the bottom link to download the PDF instructions.
