Update on Layla's Health! 

I was born with a hole in my heart as well. One day before the operation date they checked me again and the hole closed by itself. Don't loose hope. I pray for you.

We went through something similar with our first daughter. All i can say is, research everything, question everything. And hug your baby every night. And always remember that YOU are her mom. And YOUR gut instinct is what is right.

I was born with a hole in my heart and one of my ventricles doesn’t work properly either. I do get winded pretty quick and my face gets flushed with a purply red color but its never stopped me from doing anything. I grew up on a farm and was constantly playing outside. I did tap, clogging and Irish step dance. I also cheered and was the captain of my tennis team all with no problems. Hang in there! ❤️

I advise you to take cpr and first aid when life gets back to normal I have to take it for my job and I cant Express how important it is even if I didnt need it at my job. Everyone should take it. Prayers for all

I had 3 holes and a VSD when I was little and the holes closed on their own. Praying things get better.

I understand your pain, went through similar situation with my daughter. So scary. Welcome to parenthood, be prepared for your knees to be sore because of the many times you will be on your knees in prayer. 🙏🏻🥺

They have CPR for infants and you should definitely learn it. I’m sure there’s not any classes going on now but perhaps your pediatrician can show you when you go in tomorrow. It’ll help you feel more confident!

Praying for you all. My one cousin was born with a hole in his heart and had to have surgery to fix it when he was 6 months old. He is now 21 and perfectly fine.

Such a powerful and moving experience you had and where able to share. I myself have had a life full of impactful health issues. I had fluid on my heart and if the doctors didn’t drain it it would be with the lord. It was a fluke because it never happened again and that is what came to mind when y’all where talking about your sweet little one. Thank you for being brave enough to open up about that. My son was 8 weeks premature, he had sleep apnea, we found out when he turned gray/blue in his crib, he was put on an O2 monitor as well, he would forget to breathe. I completely understand, but have faith....he's 17yrs old & in perfect health. I'll keep you in my prayers. 🙏💗🙏💗🙏💗

I had preemies, one twin weight 1.11 oz & was born with a hole in his heart ❤️ and his twin brother weight 3 lbs was on a breathing machine for a week & developed pneumonia soon after & they are now 27 years old & never again were sick other than a minor cold. Most ppl grow up & never again have any health problems of the heart. I know the fear you are going through as a first time mother. God has everything under control. My preemies are a testament to Gods powerful hand. One twin was 2 months in the hospital and my 2nd twin was there 3 months since birth. It is scary but it helps build their immune system incredibly yes even at such young age. God bless her & keeping her in my prayers 🙏🏼

I am in my late 50’s and have a heart murmur all my life, sometimes I can feel it, when I do, I stop what I’m doing and rest a while. I pray Layla will be fine, God made her, trust in him to help her and for you both as parents to be calm in a situation that is very uncomfortable. God bless you both

Our daughter took reflux meds as well! They helped her so much. I would wake up to her choking on her own spit up it was awful! Prayers for your sweet girl!

My son was born with a hole in his heart. He surprised us with a rare congenital disorder called VACTERL. He was also on antacids since birth and he is a thriving, high energy four year old today, praise the Lord! The hole closed "on its own" enough so surgery was not needed...nothing but the grace of God. I know that was so scary for you. Saying a prayer for answers and for sweet little Layla- she is so beautiful!

My daughter did the same thing. One time I found her in her swing with her mouth turning blue. I understand how scary this can be. It turned out to be a problem with acid reflux as well. As she got bigger and moved to solid foods she outgrew it. We didn't have any more problems after she turned a year old. It's so hard to deal with but the monitor helps with peace of mind. Try to keep her propped up as much as possible especially after feeding. Most of the time when it happened to my daughter we would change her position and rub her back and she would be back to normal quickly. We did call the ambulance a few times just to be on the safe side. I'll be praying for you guys!!

This is like a flashback! I had my daughter at 30 weeks she spent 2 months in the NICU. All babies are born with that hole but most close up. My daughter, as yours, her hole didn't close up. Her heart rate would drop down to the 70's everytime she ate or slept. What do babies do the most?! Eat and sleep! It was very traumatic! I kept reminding myself that God is with us! She is 8 months now and still has the hole and it is getting bigger. After a year they will decide to do surgery or not. I will keep Layla and ya'll in my prayers! I know it's hard momma! It pulls at your heart like no other! She will get through this and so will you! Our wonderful father is watching over us! Hugs!!!!

It's very scary... When my son was 2 weeks old..he has RSV, he was turning blue and I freaked out... He is now 18. Not that my story is like yours. I did have a scare like you. I will keep her in prayer 🙏.

My daughter was born with a small hole in her heart. It sealed on it's own, and she is now a healthy 9 year old. I hope you have no more serious health scares with her.

Another recommendation to take a first aid course that has a section on infant CPR they say once the knowledge is there in your brain you will remember it when you need to. I did mine when I was 19 and I still remember after 20 years! I've also had a cardio vascular surgeon tell me that they suspect 1 in 5 people have a hole in their heart just that most people don't know and in the case of my family member he said if it's there it's easy to fix these days.

My daughter was born with a hole on her hear and she's perfectly healthy now. Although she wasn't premi she was born at 39 weeks via c section. But ill be praying. We love yall.

Oh my! Prayed for her and your family! You guys have had a lot going in since becoming parents. You are right, God is with us. The blessing that comes through tough times is that we realize we are dependent on Him and get closer to Him. That is the blessing I realized from my near death experience. Nobody wants to go through it. But blessings can come from it. Continued prayers for you!!

When I rotated in Pediatrics, I remember caring for some preemie babies who had apnea which is something that happens a lot to preemie babies and makes them desaturate when they get into a deep sleep. Just rousing them awake helped to bring their saturation back up. This would still be something that needs attention after but it could be helpful to know in the moment. I pray she won’t experience anymore of these spells and for strength for mom and dad💜 bless you guys
