That boat has minor injuries, nothing to worry about, some drying out time and fiberglass will do the job. I've seen much worse and they got back sailing again.
Marvelous "portlight" installation by these two knowledgeable sailors. Such technical instruction with superb v=cinematography. We extend our kind greetings and can't wait for future episodes.
Wow! The portholes look amazing…and there’s nothing like a good pressure wash to spiffy up the boat. So excited to see what the summer brings! 😎❤️😎❤️😎❤️😎
Morning Mary, Hope you've had a good week. I think there will be a lot of sanding this summer. Hopefully some painting too. Thanks for watching as always. Stu and Marina
@@SailingSeabird Same with us. We can’t wait to replace our portholes, now! It’s going to make such a difference. So…much….sanding on our hull, too! 😂😎❤️❤️❤️⚓️
I really love that little round window; well done! Some things are worth the work because they bring joy for years to come. You two are very hard workers, and I am impressed with your attitudes and how you work together. Imagine how many tons of parts and equipment and BOATS you have kept out of landfill! This is the actual way to save our environment. By fixing and re-using that which is often thrown away.
You both are just getting better and better at this you tube lark videos are brilliant love watching all the different jobs you tackle on your boat ⛴️ you make a bloody good team , you must think about doing a couple of shorts when your away winter working as a lot of people where genuinely concerned take care both looking forward to next weeks video 😊👍
Hi ya guys. Its Liam from Ireland again lol. Lovely job with the power washer. She looks far better off now. Away better. That Deck is going too look Fantastic when you get a chance too paint it White. The window looks great. So keep up the great work. I ❤ your Channel guys 😊😊
Hiya Liam, We can't wait to get the decks painted. Got some paint, just need the kiwi grip for the textured bits. But, loads to fo before then. Stay tuned 😉
Great Job on fixing the layers around the Ports!! All your work looks great. Here is a hint on saving Paint in Cans. The Lid fits into a Groove in the Can top. Put a small hole in the bottom of that groove. Then when the lid is re-inserted the excess paint in the Groove is pushed back into the Can. SAVES FROM A GLUED ON EFFECT to remove the lid next time and actually seals better! Have more fun! Rich
@@SailingSeabird You bet! start the lid seal opposite the hole I use a nail punched through, then as you lay down the lid it pushes all loose pain in the grove to the hole! Happy Times To you both! Rich
@@SailingSeabird When I was growing up, a song I remember went like this, "baby you can do it, take your time do it right, you can do it ba-by.." So, I'll just enjoy your videos, and appreciate the time you're taking to make sure it's done well, a bientot!
Only came across your videos a couple of weeks ago and have been binge watching them over the last few days. Really impressed with your skills and optimism. I`ve seen pics of other Gulfstar 41 boats and they look lovely. I`ve no doubt that Seabird will look amazing once you have done all you plan. . Regards Stu from Yorkshire
Since you're on the dry, there's a product called 30 second cleaner. You spray on(not pressure) leave it for a couple minutes, then spray clean, any white areas are whiter than white !
Send a link if possible. We just just elbow grease and hard work. All the paint will be sanded off as it's not in good shape. We just wanted the boat not looking green. Respect for the boat yard, nobody wants to see a green boat. Cheers for watching 😃
It sort of did. 🤣🤣🤣 The new glue is safely in the fridge. I don't know if it's the lack of rain or a "job well done" but the portlights aren't leaking. Cheers for watching.
Hi Stu, I was in the yacht building business for quite a few years, amongst my many experiences I found that the KING of silicones/adhesives is SIKA, yes a little expensive but utterly dependant, never had a fail using Sika, went through some huge storms/waves hitting the windscreens with only Sika bonding w/screens to superstructure and a lot more. I wish you & Marina all the very best❤
Love Sika 291i Use it almost religiously, just not on windows. Anything thing that I never plan to take up, deck fittings, winches, cleats etc 291 plus below the waterline.
In the UK, we use CT1 adhesive sealant. As good as sika 291 plus sets under water and half the price. I think Toolstation stock it. Probably some equivalent In Bricolage outlets in France.
Alex hibbert tested a load on his converted life boat ...channel . Ports look wonderful.. but its best to use something that remains flexible long term and in all temperature's.
Going to be a great boat when done.. even if the 🐷 bank is running a little low you can always find a local business to work a few hours a week. Plus your channel will continue to grow especially with quality videos such as this and perhaps a live stream every now and then??
Easiest and least abrasive way to clean/renew aluminium (probably anodised) is using a 'dry' washing up sponge with the green brillo pad side... leaves a polished/new finish regarding the slight surface staining on the older ally windows... carefully of course! Probably already know that... but just in case. Such a great name 'Seabird'... crack on you two... 30k is not far away! 👍
Hiya, How have you been? Great tip on the sponge. Imagine getting to 30k, that's crazy. We're really grateful that so many people like to watch our diy project. Cheers 🍻
@@SailingSeabird Cool to get such a nice reply. Pleased you guys are getting some well deserved attention. Seabird has got so much potential which you both clearly recognised... nice to see your return! Fair winds! 👍
great step forward. Are u sure the rectangle window is right way up. I thought the joint in frame goes at bottom so any water drains out. not that it should leak , not now . keep on keeping on its hard tokeep going on such long projects don't forget to take the little dingy out and have fun.
There would originally have been a compass in the round hole. Once which could be read from the cockpit and from inside. That way someone seated inside could see what course the boat is on. Useful for marking up chart. Seeing the log for distance, a clock for time, and a compass for course. All visible from inside.
Hiya, It was the autopilot head. The rest of the instruments ate in the combing. This must have been done out of ease. But it's gone, and all that's left is a few screw holes. Need to match the gelcoat but done have the patience atm for that. Cheers for watching 😃
The white stuff looks like emergency fillin done by some good sailor. Epoxy doesn't heal underwater, I guess :) Something like those Styrofoam extinguishers for tyres might work on the fly if ya poke a hell, anyeay, I chat too much! Send some Love fo ya two!
you should put a drop of superglue where the rubber ends meet, when it dries it will pull apart letting water in,its how they seal windows on caravans it seals way longer if it cant pull apart due to shrinkage.
At least you have an employment for the next 3/ 4 Years... 😂 congratulations Who can garantee the same ? Probably not a race winner but A good home to move quietly From à place to another thanks à medium draft and plenty of space inside. Hv nice sea and good rear wind for yr future travels.
Elizabeth Danyes facial reconstruction of the Carthaginian man from Bryce , Phoenicians had distingtive features, the young women looks like a Phoenician
Oddly enough someone just opened up a foot locker in England and found a replica menu from the Titanic on the night that it sunk it turns out that they were serving North Atlantic cod with iceberg lettuce lettuce!!!
First I've heard of that. I'd never install Windows with sikaflex. But normal marine sealant is what I've always used, not has harsh. Cheers for watching 😃
