That is a very popular combo for Subaru Outbacks and Foresters - it is voted as number one on a large Subaru Outback forum. I sure there would be more sold if it was available on lower cost trims.
RAV4 has always been a safe choice. That's why it has been the best selling compact SUV for the last couple of years. Hybrid just makes it an even more secure choice, for those who are looking for bulletproof reliability and amazing fuel economy.
@@andreaspencer9813 I was just surfing Toyota and it seems they are saving the dark green for the Highlander, Tundra and the Seqouia. Seeing as how this is a special edition it might have been nice though. Maybe they should add some faux wood panels in a "Woodland" edition as well.
I had a Rav 4 rental in LA last year. It drove fine, good gas(35 highway)mileage. There was a bit too much road noise and the mediocre stereo did not help. A good appliance, nothing more engaging.
I really have no interest in the Rav4 but since you guys did the review, I had to watch. Love the channel and the fun down to earth nature of your reviews.
@@Gopinathk17Something less boring to drive, ended up buying a low mile 2011 lexus rx350, luxury rocket ship at an amazing price with no hybrid bs to worry about, nicest car I have driven in quite some time and should have the reliability of the toyota brand.
Finally the radio is updated. Our 2019 rav4 looks pretty outdated the day we bought it. This new rav4 interior should’ve been what rav4 should have started out with
This channel has gotten so good! Not too short or long, just the right volume and type of info, well researched and accurate info, and good coverage of the car/truck market for the majority of buyers. Keep up the good work!
I have a 2023 rav4 xle premium on order. Due to a car accident I had to replace the vehicle early. So I bought a 2021 Venza xle. I am totally impressed with this vehicle. It will be a difficult decision to trade this in for The RAV4
13:00 I apricate that they talked about noise level in the car. I test drove a CRV hybrid and a RAV4 Hybrid back-to-back. And on the Highway, the RAV4 was just so stinking loud! Me and the salesman were having to raise our voices significantly to get over the wind and road noise. I have ordered a CRV Sport Hybrid (US) at a lower price than a similarly specked RAV4 and won't be going back to Toyota until they do A LOT more work to get the very noisy ride quieted down a bit.
I am the first to comment great review as per usual. Good criticism about the vehicle. Greetings from Lima Peru. Here, I am enjoying the wonderful summer.
The soft touch is nice but requires maintenance you need to put leather conditioner on it it will still crack and tear over time where as the cloth requires no maintenance other then a vacuum cleaning on occasion. I actually did not want a XLE with a moon roof and wanted Fog lights which this has standard. The manual tail gate is one less item to wear out!
I love my 2022 venza hybrid limited more than the rav4 because of the lexus like interior looks more luxurious than the rav4 thanks for your video take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 by the way good luck to the cr-v hybrid
I love the plaid shirt, Zack! But I've been meaning to comment this for ages... Andrea I love your style! You always look amazing. I like how you guys coordinate. I'm imagining a huge closet where you're both getting ready and planning what to wear. :)
Once again, you two nailed it. If Toyota could fill the dealer lots with these, they'd sell every one of them all year. As Zach said, it's the best car you can buy. That XLE Hybrid (value trim) is well equipped, is very reliable, has great resale and unbeatable fuel economy. The mix of those is why I bought a Venza Limited in 2021 (got lucky as they had one on the lot). Lifetime average in 18 months is 6.4L/100kms driving it normally (not being an idiot, but not hypermiling it either). It gets better fuel economy than the Kia Rio5 it replaced.
Venza is a Lexus on a budget(oh, so very nice). I agree that the XLE is the trim that most are goin to want, the premium package is a pretty good cheaper alternative to the Limited. Alot of people poopoo the LE, but it still comes with the automatic climate control(which I discovered is quirky but great), and the full suite of safety features that the higher trims have(in Canada). If you're used to manual seats, these are pretty easy to use(I'm the only one who drives mine, so it's more or less set and forget). And there's not a direct competitor(hybrid) that matches the LE price. The cheapest Escape hybrid is now 40k in Canada. The Ford Maverick hybrid can be cheaper than the LE but needs packages to get the equipment plus no awd(why?). In the summer my RAV4 hybrid averaged less then 5.5l per 100kms. Winter it's more like 6.7. I do drive long distances so the system gets warmed up and has time to bend the averages down a fair bit. Whoops my 14 Cruze though in milage.
I drove a rental '19 Rav4 and really liked it! Placed it first on my list last year when purchasing a new car. Unfortunately, the delivery time was unacceptable (close to 1 year), so went to look for other brands. They are still selling like crazy, but I am certain I am not alone with not looking to wait that long! Missed sales for sure.
@@ghenry85 Agreed, a Venza is just a budget RX. If you want an RX, buy one instead of compromising with a Venza. A RAV4 is a better choice in every way over a Venza. I am still not sure why Toyota sells the Venza, which is slightly larger than a RAV4, yet has less cargo volume. Kind of like the old Toyota Camry/Avalon combo.
When accelerating briskly with the gas engine, it goes into direct injection mode. Direct injection mode is noisy. However when cruising with the gas engine, it goes into port injection mode and it's much much more quiet. The engine is only noisy when accelerating briskly. If that helps anyone.
Please Toyota! 🙏 Height adjustable passenger seat, panoramic sunroof, standard birdseye camera and standard LED lighting for all buttons. Still love my XSE but these upgrades would make me upgrade instantly.
Our XLE Premium Hybrid is coming in the first week of March. It was ordered May 2022. Yay!!! My wife and I love your reviews...thanks for your excellent content!
You two have a great show. It’s so informative and entertaining. You guys should move to NY and star in a talk show. I hope some of these cars you’re evaluating become available some day soon so I can help with the climate change issue. Andrea you’re a knockout motormouth!
The only problem is that no matter how good the vehicle is if never available to consumer and this make it practically useless. 1-2 years waiting list (not even a guarantee) is a non-brainer No No for those not-desperate buyers - Toyota have to up their game to tackle this availability problem whereas other manufacture including Honda and Acura is closing to only 2-3 months waiting list on any models now in Canada.
I have been waiting for 9 months for my CR-V hybrid now and am told it will be here in another 2 months, and I have been told now that it is a minimum of a year’s wait for hybrid Hondas.
good job guys! And thank you for your accurate reporting on the cablegate. I have had just one customer who had the corrosion issue and sold many of these since 2019. Lots of snow and some salt used here in Winnipeg. It was all replaced for him under warranty. I've always known Toyota to do the right thing for their owners.
That's great to hear, thanks for sharing this about your customer, nice to hear you have only had one issue. I am really happy Toyota is now offering a warranty extension on the cable to 8 years or 160,000 km on 2019-2022 models if there are signs of corrosion.
@LS dog walker Initially I heard the same thing, there had to be a fault code on the driver display. However, after speaking with Toyota Canada, all RAV4 hybrid models from 2019-2022 qualify for the extended warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km on the part. The dealership has to decide whether the cable needs to be replaced, there has to be signs of corrosion, they won't just replace the cable if there are no signs of corrosion. I also haven't heard that any other Toyota hybrids are included in this warranty extension except for RAV4 models in that time period.
@LS dog walker No problem at all. I wouldn't worry too much about your 2022 Venza, there are no reports of problems and Toyota said, the cable was redesigned in 2021. They just extended the warranty to 2022 RAV4 hybrid models because they want owners to have confidence in the brand and to feel okay about their purchase. I am sure if there are issues with Venza models, Toyota will step up and extend the warranty.
0:38 zack and andrea, do you have any issues getting into the front seats? I am 5'6" and I just cant figure out how to get in without hitting my head or contorting myself. maybe demo in a youtube shorts video? I assume it is just me because I haven't found any reports on the internet
Great review as usual ! I'm 6'2'' and I test drove a Rav4... I have to agree with your viewer that was complaining about the roof headroom... regarding headroom on the driver side, I find myself more comfortable in a Sportage, a Tucson or even in a Kona which is a much smaller vehicle. There is unfortunately something in the adjustment of the driver seat in a rav4 that is just not quite right for tall people :(. Keep up with your excellent reviews !
Any Rav4 is hard to get right now. We were lucky a customer cancelled an incoming vehicle so we were able to get a Limited Rav4 hybrid. It was fancier and more expensive than we wanted, but at least we finally have one after only a couple months. A Prime is truly Unobtanium!
Love your reviews and thank you so much. That cheap looking infotainment system, that’s what stopping me from buying this car until they update it with the one similar to BZ4x
My 22 Rav4 Hybrid has gotten quieter than it was when it was bramd new. Plus it has to be around freezing to got the epa milage. In warm weather, it gets more in the 5.5l per 100kms range. I have got 4.8lper 100kms a few times on country roads. I think I'm in a minority that doesn't want a sun roof, lol!
@@pooh4519 a co worker of mine got his at the same time(roughly), and had the same observation on noise. It's not as bad as some people make it out to be.
The RAV4 Hybrid is definitely nice, but the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid is similarly priced with more.amenities - panoramic sunroof roof, touch free liftgate.
I'm totally with you on the colors. Absolutely baffled. Maybe it's a cartoon woodland? They have brown interiors for the RAV4, and colors on tap at Toyota this year like cypress and solar orange, but no. So it's the minimal effort made on the part of Toyota marketing department.
I love the bronze wheels on the Woodland but I agree it should be offered in Forest Green. I wouldn't get it myself since I think the sticker badge on the back is so cheap! They couldn't spring for a regular badge? I got the hybrid SE and I love it. The only downside of the Rav4 currently is how hard it is to get one. Wait times are long in the US and longer in Canada, and I ended up taking one that was a higher trim than I wanted originally, just to get to the front of the line. But no regrets at this point. I love the heated seats and the power liftgate.
Like Zack said, it's very tough to beat this package is what you're looking for is an efficient and reliable appliance. Sure, nothing exciting behind the wheel. But here in Québec, with all our potholes and our heavily cracked pavement, going for anything else than a reliable appliance is useless: you'll never be able to properly enjoy your Golf R or your GR Corolla anyway. So. Reliable. Practical. Fuel sipping. Incredible resale value. Hard to beat, hard to beat...
Hi guys, I enjoyed your show. I'm in the market for a compact PHEV SUV. I'm leaning towards the Kia Sportage SX trim. But now, after watching this episode now I'm back on the fence. Top of my list is value and dependability. What would be your recommendations. I would love to see a shootout between these 2 revals. Thanks again.
Hi guys can you guys give an explanation of why the wait time in the usa is less long then Canada? I have a feeling that we are really not priority for Toyota. Thanks
The CRV Sport pricing is not good in the US at all! You have dealer forced add-ons and appreciation fees that put the standard CRV Sport at over 40k without tax and tags. I know because I originally was going to purchase one and switched to this RAV4 instead. I am done with Honda Dealers!
I was thinking about the same thing for color. WOODland - forest greens, wood browns, I mean really. That's like having a midnight style line and using bright colors.
Went to the Toyota dealer and they had exactly one 2023 base gas model and since it was spoken for I couldn’t even take it for a test drive. Was told at least 6 month wait for a gas model let alone a hybrid. Went over to Honda and took a 2024 Hybrid Ex-l out. Sweet ride but very very pricey. Was told I could probably get the canyon blue by sept or oct though they only get a limited amount and apparently they can only get 2024 vehicles now but who knows.
2023 RAV4 Hybrid or 2023 CRV would be better choice for a new car now in Canada? I want to buy a CRV with hybrid but I don’t have choice in lower trims. Ofcouurse i cannot afford Touring one. Pls advise ?
I wish the Rav4 wasn't so damn loud on the road. It's almost as loud as the Forester. It's the one reason I won't be getting another one. It did most everything I wanted to, but it wasn't very nice to ride in.
Great review as always Andrea and Zack! Looking for RAV4 Hybrid for awhile now, but I am 6’3” and concerned about headroom. Zack nearly hitting ceiling. Any insight on availability to test drive?
Just fyi, this body style of rav4 has the smallest amount of headroom I’ve ever experienced on a vehicle. If you are around 6 foot 3+, your head will absolutely hit the ceiling in the passenger seat. Never had this issue with any other vehicle. Additionally, the interior including legroom and overall width of space up front feels super cramped, even compared to my 07 Honda accord. The way the plastic molding up front is near your legs is very oddly confining. Reviewers don’t particularly bring this up for some reason and say it is spacious, but it isn’t. Even my wife who is only 5 foot 5 couldn’t believe the difference between her 2017 escape and this. We ended up buying a 2023 CR-V because it was vastly more roomy. Was disappointed because I loved the response of the naturally aspirated engine and 8 speed. The CR-V is super nice though, and feel like Toyota is going to be losing a ton of sales because of space issues to it.
I just preordered one! Wondering if I could upgrade the speakers to their JBL premium sound package or maybe it isn't available for RAV4 hybrids? I did not see it as an option package.
That part digital, part analog dashboard is really looking dated. It looks like something out of a vehicle 5-6 years ago. It's good to hear that for '23, there is an all-digital option.
The US version of the RAV4 Hybrid Woodland Edition is a huge disappointment (compared to the Canadian version) since it’s based off of the LE trim in the US. 1) No heated seats option, 2) no heated steering wheel option, 3) no leather wrapped steering wheel option, 4) no moon roof option, 5) no power lift gate option, 6) only black cloth seats option - no soft-Tex seat option. Additionally, for being a “soft-roader”, 7) no front view camera option, 8) no skid plates, 9) same 8.1” ground clearance as the regular model, 10) Falken Wildpeak A/T tires are OEM versions that are not 3 peak snow rated. Most of the “upgrades” are just accessories and cosmetic embellishments (floor mats, black badging, bronze wheels, etc.) The main highlight is the TRD tuned suspension, but it’s unclear what exactly that includes. Is it really worth the 5 mpg hit compared to the regular hybrid? Ah yes, Andrea and Zack are great and I like their channel, but it wasn’t noted here in this particular video about the Woodland edition that it has slightly lower fuel economy (actually MPG estimates: 38 city, 35 highway, 37 combined).
I have a 2021 RAV4 XSE hybrid. It’s one of the best cars in the market but I will not buy it again unless Toyota adds a standard power passenger seat and I’d also like to have power folding mirrors.
I hope they fix the rear view cam resolution. The rear cam looks like it was shot with 480p res. I'm really waiting for the Rav to go PHEV sometime in 2024/25
Bought a rav 4 hybrid last month. Was a 3 month wait after ordering. Rav 4 Prime was 7 month wait. Also I believe the Prime lost its tax break since they’re made in Japan.
I don’t know where you two are getting your prices because when I go to Toyota Canada pricing the le hybrid is $38,134 whereas you are quoting $34,850. The xle hybrid is $41,274 and you are at $37,990. Are you two on the same page as Toyota or am I missing something. 😊
I think this model is a bit of short of features but other are good. Toyota always try to improve each year. If I want buy this, I would love to get the technology level one. 👍🏻 A Great funny video Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
I like the changes Toyota made to this model for 2023, the updated infotainment system was needed, one of my favourite features now is wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
@@andreaspencer9813 I can see that one. I think the problem is not getting seat level adjustments otherwise if you ever go over speed bumps, he will be hit the ceiling painfully.
Toyota has created too many trim levels (in Canada). Eight?!? That’s ludicrous. It still remains the most recommendable in it’s class though. As for that faux leather… I know of two people who were absolutely convinced (as told by their Salesperson) that their interiors were ‘leather’. Furthermore, they each paid a premium for this fake leather… which is still an amazing product (wear/feel) and in many ways better. But it is not leather. Even with the RAV4s many trim levels, it still remains the best option for those who want value, quality and respectable fuel economy. Thanks for the video.
Why not make it available in the Lunar Rock color? More rugged than these. I also think the bronze wheels don’t match with anything except the black. I don’t like then on the white or especially the blue!
Toyota needs to listen up and install manual passenger seat height adjustments in all of their cars. We skipped on purchasing a 2022 Corolla cross because the passenger seat was too low. What a crazy way to lose a car deal Toyota!
I just find it functional but boring inside and getting a bit dated after 4 years with zero outside change. I'm waiting for next real full revision. I won't hold u to it but would u be willing to guess would we finally get a Pano roof out of Cambridge it's behind the times to have a sun roof I had in highschool 30 yrs ago. Keep up the good work u two.
You guys are simply the best! I'm not even interested in Toyota Rav4, and yet your video was informative and fun to watch. As always, thanks for all you do to better inform us about these vehicles, and keep driving! p.s. love to know what you think of the Rivian R1S.
I’ll stick to our ‘23 Sportage Hybrid 😉😁👍❤️..Kia’s Interior design is soooo much nicer than this ..3400 km’s and certainly No Regrets ! Drove around for hours today …in Winter🥶..and still achieved 6.1 L per 100 km..☺️
Excellent quality video but I've been ruined by the new Tesla model y at its new price point. The finishes are better. The ride is better. It's the safest SUV in it's class. Software updates keep increasing the value. Energy for it is cheaper and you can charge it at home for the longest distances most people travel most of their lives on average, statistically speaking. 😊
@@Motormouth... this is true, but I qualified for the tax credit in the US and had a state incentive bringing my final price down to 44k before considering any additional lower costs related to maintenance or fuel.
RAV 4's are very reliable and well-built cars. But why are the interiors so plain-Jane unattractive? That info display looks like something from Walmart 1999.
I get mine end of this april xle premium but not hybrid wait for 8 months if hybrid wait for 18 months here in ontario i own two ravs now 1 2018 and 2023
Easy eh Andrea, Zack is holding on. This updated Rav4 has all the trim you'd expect and is a very big and robust vehicle. Sounds very good economy wise and at a most competitive price too. Though still can't believe some of these cars don't have heated steering wheel as standard!
It's not a "new" Rav4... it's the same damn design they've had for the past FIVE YEARS (they just tossed some rubber mats with trees on them and called it a "new" Rav4).
I heard that Toyota added their new infotainment software to the 2023 RAV4, but you guys didn't mention it so I guess they didn't? Can you please clarify? Thanks!
@@andreaspencer9813 Thanks Andrea, I guess I need to learn to play videos twice so that I pick up these details. I guess I was expecting bigger displays (which you said was available) to go with the new software so the moment I saw what seemed to be the same smaller(?) infotainment display on your tester, I was predisposed to think it hadn't happened.
I keep seeing reviews on the Kia Sportage Hybrid NOT getting the advertised 38mpg, but Closer to 31-32 (??!!). Did you find that to be true when you had that to test? I’m trying to decide between that and the Rav4 Hybrid (if this one Does get the advertised 38-41mpg) 🤷♂️🤔. Thx
