I have a lot better understanding of how vaults work now. I am proud of this guide. Vaults are caused by moving from one non-standing position to another while holding empty hand.
Remember finding this out by accident and going "What the hell was that?", as well as jumping through those vendors stands in multiple ways. Quite impressive how AC1 actually required a notion of it's mechanics to fully master them, like the hidden blade, it was the most OP weapon but only when used in the right way.
Awesome video! There is one more use of vaulting that’s worth mentioning. Pulling yourself up onto a ledge is also considered a “jump” by the game. Meaning, if there are little clothing racks or chimneys close to ledges, you can hold the necessary inputs to have Altaïr vault those immediately after getting up onto the ledge.
I just started playing AC1 and I'm blown away by the mechanics that I didn't knew were in the game, it seems that the first parkour system has a lot more depth and requires more precision and understanding of the environment
"To make it smooth... Do it at an angle." Truer words were never spoken, I can't imagine how much time you have spent testing different situations for this mechanic.
@@nonostalgia512 in a run situation u can jump off the wall on to a person or another enemy he Ponce's off the wall on the dude and is stationary for 3seconds to gather himself
It’s cool I’m not the only one playing this game out of nostalgia and also because it’s just a better game than most. I’m not saying there aren’t good games being made today but this was from a less cynical era when big title games had a lot more artistic integrity and life in them. Dude, absolute legend. I found out about this yesterday and just have to learn it, I kinda miss how before you needed to have skill to traverse the terrain and perform aerial assassinations. Excellent video.

You can actually vault by doing your first manual jump without moving and once you hit your second jump you can vault. So you dont have to mive on your first jump and just jump in place.
Great tutorial. Too bad I didn't watch this way baaack in '07 while playing AC1.😂 I was just too engrossed in killing my targets and being involed in the whole Templar conspiracy stuff. Lololol. I am genuinely surprised AC1 had this cool mechanics!
So basically I have to hold empty hand between transitions of non standing positions correct? So just to verify I understand, will it work if I jump from a beam and whilst midair I hold empty hand when landing on the next platform? Also thank you for your great work
In other environments, such as a beam like he's crouched on in the middle, to another beam, the vault would be used to descend. Sort of like the parkour down from ac unity
Ok what about that jump off the wall on to an enemy thing is that considered a vault as well or is that a different sequence of buttons Iv done it a few times he does it in the introduction sequence when he uses the crossbow

god i wish the assassin's creed games were harder.....their so easy learning the meachnics is almost pointless....because with raw persistence you will win.....its annoying.....
