The GPS (Global Positioning System) works everywhere in the world it doesn't depend on your data service from your Mobile provider. Indeed it looks like the motor is using the GPS from the mobile phone which is not so accurate. You will need a new top brand phone to have under 5 meters precision.

Thanks Robert. I have purchased all my trolling motors from Haswing Outdoor in CA and they have excellent customer service. I have been in many different weather conditions and the motor has kept me in position with no problems. Yes, I am happy with all 3 Haswings that I have right now (and the ones I used to have too).

Hi Jeff. Yes this has been a great purchase. I grew up in LA...Go Dodgers! The wireless foot and hand controls work great. The anchor function is also good. The wireless for the controls is blue tooth but the application is cell phone based. I can operate the trolling motor from anywhere on the boat. I don't know if you can use a wired controller but there is an extra plug in. The only negative thing would be that every time you give a command to the TM it beeps. I got used to it though. Code 4 all good.

Perfect! Sounds like I bought a trolling motor. A couple things? Did you buy it direct from Haswing? Also, I have a 6cyl. 18 ft bowrider (Sea Ray) ski boat that doubles for fishing, you think that 48" 55lb thrust will work for that?

@@jefftorres7446 I bought mine from Haswing Outdoor on Amazon. I'm not sure what shaft length you need it would be best to measure it.

It kept me close to my position but movement also depends on weather/water conditions.

Haha. I get it. I have used it in all types of weather and it has worked well for me. The 48 inch length was recommended to me by the dealer.

I got use to it and it didn't seem to bother any fish. I think the trade off when compared to MK and MG prices is worth it.

Yes. Some are just wireless. You have to make sure it has the GPS. It will also say that it has a Helmsman app.

My understanding is that you need cell service to use the app.

Yes, if you don't have service then it's not worth it. They make another Cayman with wireless hand and foot controls.

I don't know what the max range is but I have been 20 feet away and the remote still controlled the motor.

Hi, I don't have a Tracker so I don't know. I attached my own male trolling motor plug to match my receptacle. I use Motor Guide male/female connection.

I have not had that problem. Have you tried the reset button on top of the head? I would try that when you are not out on the water.

I had the same problem. Notice that you have to switch off anchor mode before using the remote. The softwear does not know how to toggle automatically. Another reason could be that I was connected with the phone over wifi and the remote over bloototh and there could appear a conflict. Anyway. Before using the remote, always be sure to switch of anchor mode in the app.

I used a Duracell 100AH and it didn't dies even after 2 days fishing.

It uses a USB charger and I have used it for 2 days of fishing with juice left.

I don't use it because I like to be in control of the boat when moving from spot to spot.

Personnally I charge it on my computer USB port, like the hand remote control.

It has a 5-10 meter anchor lock. It doesn't mean the boat will point in the same direction but it works fine.

No, like most boat bow mounted trolling motors, there is no reverse. To go in reverse, the motor turns 180 degrees.

It's holding in the tolerance of the motor.

Are you trying to reset it?

It is based on GPS coordinates with a small factor of error. A boat will move even with a real anchor.

The boat bow & stern orientation is not the same as before, but you’re asking for something that is impossible to achieve with any single motor unit regardless of who the manufacturer is. The trolling motor's GPS unit only knows where it is in relationship to the GPS satellites, not its location on the boat, or how the boat is oriented when the anchor function is applied. Most consumer grade GPS receivers are only able to hold a GPS fix with an accuracy of +/- 3 Meters (10.84’) and much less dependent upon antenna quality and number of satellites the unit is receiving data from at that moment. It’s obvious from the video that his outboard motor was not straight when he put the motor in gear, causing the stern to swing to the right. Also, the trolling motor prop is offset from the shaft, so if the prop is running while the shaft rotates to move itself back to the anchor coordinates, there is going to be some additional rotational forces applied to the boat during the process. These forces could counter the initial stern swing, or they could magnify the forces depending on which way the shaft turns while bringing itself back to the anchor point. In the video they magnified the rotation because the motor shaft quickly turned clockwise, then toward the end of the relocation process reduced the swing by slowly turning the shaft back counter-clockwise during the final adjustments. If there is any wind or wave action, then the stern is going to eventual swing into a neutral bow trailing position. If you wanted to be able to anchoring the entire boat in a fixed orientation, that would require at least two motors (stern and bow) with separate GPS receivers and a head unit that would need to be able to monitor both GPS positions simultaneously while also be able to give each motor the correct inputs to counter each motors tendency to swing the opposite end of the boat in the other direction when it turns on, plus any wind or wave forces. This sort of setup would be very expensive ($5k or more) and require twice the battery power of a single unit.The boat orientation is not the same as before, but that is impossible to achieve with any single motor unit regardless of the manufacturer. The trolling motor's GPS unit only knows where it is in relationship to the satellites, it doesn't have any idea where it's located on the boat. Obviously his outboard motor was turned when he put it into gear pushing the stern to the left making the boat start to turn to the right. Also the trolling motor prop is offset from the shaft, so it's turning to adjust position is going to cause the stern to swing as well.

@@Supersonicff-dw6bs Great answer. Current GPS is accurate but still has many factors that can induce small inaccuracies. In the past the US use to put an intentional error but that was turned off.

It has an approximate 6 foot accuracy. It will put you back in the same location but not always the same boat position.
