Updated Samsung Smart Switch For 2022 

Thank you for your comprehensive treatment of the "custom" option and for going into much detail on how the transfer goes. MISSING THOUGH: like most reviewers you do not talk about the interaction between Smart Switch and the phone's Google account. The new phone has no Google account association, and the Play Store will not even display available apps (much less download them) until you associate your phone with a Google account. The question I've pondered is: should I do the Google account association myself manually, and if so should I do the account association before or after running Smart Switch. Unless Smart Switch has some back door to the play store, it would seem that the Google account association must occur first, otherwise the Play Store could not download any apps. But then, if Smart Switch transfers "accounts", then presumably the most important account it transfers is your Google account. But how can it transfer your Google account without requiring you to provide credentials? It would seem that this is a very serious security flaw; anyone gaining temporary access to your phone could run Smart Switch and thus transfer your account to another phone. How can this be? THEN: if Smart Switch does transfer your Google account association, then that must be a prerequisite for transferring apps, unless Smart Switch has the aforementioned back door. So many questions. Do you have the answers?

Is there a way to transfer your home screen layout? Apps on home screen, app tray setup, etc..?

I tried that it's alright but you can't bring over secure notes..

Just make sure that your USB cable is working and not damaged, it took me all day to figure out why I couldn't transfer the data across to my desktop PC. Until i changed to a new USB cable and then it worked! Sometimes it just the simple things that work!

I just got a S22 Ultra after having an S20 Ultra. My S20 Ultra had TONS of stuff on my SD Card. Before I set this up, will it transfer stuff from my SD Card on my old phone to the internal storage on my new S22, or just the media/photos/video stored on the internal storage from my S20? Worst case, hoping I could do the USB to USB connection to manually move the files from the file editor on my S20 to my S22. Thanks in advance!!

So I use the Samsung Galaxy default 3 in my everyday life also, I also use the s22 ultra for my everyday pocket Carrie and the z-fold is not going anywhere have you got rid of that device or do you still use both or what do you plan on doing I use Smart switch to get all my information transferred over it was pretty smooth took a little while but it works good

Jimmy, I have a question relating to this.....I have an s 20 ultra 5g and need to do a smart switch to my new s22ultra and a little thrown off going from a phone with a sd card to one without. Doing a lotbof research and from what I've gathered put sim in new ultra 1st and put sd back in s20 ultra and do the smart switch and you can still transfer everything over from the sd card it will just go to the internal memory on my new s22....does that sound correct? Can you help me in anyway or give me any tips or links to that? Any help is appreciated, also do you know or anyone know if I will keep homescreens, passwords, apps and etc

Hello Jimmy. Will selecting to backup Settings, save/transfer ALL settings, or it'll only backup a certain number of settings? I'm interested on only saving system settings, and I want to be sure everything will be transferred, otherwise need to find another solution.

The most time consuming part of setting up a new phone for me was setting up all of the accounts and passwords because they didn't transfer from the old phone. Has that been addressed with newer versions of smart switch?

Do you have a video on how to solve for if your old phone has more data than the new Samsung S22 Ultra since it has no sd card? We do a lot of videos but want to be able to access the older videos without storing them on external drive. I'm guessing somehow sync to google drive without it deleting it from your phone storage?

How do I restore from my PC? Backing up was easy enough but I can't choose my PC as a source for restoring the backup making it all pointless...

Hi, I have galaxy s21 ultra three days ago I updated it to November security patch with same one ui 4.1 with smart switch by watching this video, it was 7865mb file. now one ui 5 is available in Pakistan and my phone shows operating system is modified in an unauthorised way, and software is update:VIF in smart switch. So what should I do to update it to one ui 5. I bought this phone when it was released in Pakistan and living currently in Pakistan

Yeah got almost all my storage on S20+ used with about 2 or 3 gb left but other is like 29gb so a complete system rest is needed and I need to move all to my Note9 reset and move back to S20+

Did this process only take 17ish minutes? I'm trying to transfer from a note 8 to s22 ultra and I cut out so much to do base things and even though it says 15 minutes is been hours!! Does the new phone have to be activated in order to work? My old phone is still activated...

Mine it denied repeatedly to transfer ALL data saying there is not enough memory in old cell, when in reality im transferring to new cell. so what worked was to transfer one or two things at a time. I successfully transferred all apps first which were my priority, and it worked.

dont use smart switch. It causes heavy battery drain after its use. I almost wanted to give back my samsung note 20 ultra because it had such a big standby drain.
