Updating firmware on COMAND 2.0 in W210 E-Class E320 

The disc is hard to come by - you can locate it in EPC to get the last update disc part number. It is designated as a "Special Tool" and the supply chain may not have many/any left. The part is different whether you have an ECE or US COMAND. One will not work in the other. The last US version release is dated late 2001 when viewing the information in the COMAND diagnosis menus. There is an early 2001 as well.

So how can i get a hold of the disk for north America. My radio freezes

I will try to put my hands on mine - EPC is showing Part 230 589 00 22 00. If you are not familiar with Mercedes-Benz part numbers, a "589" part is a Special Tool that is designed for dealership use and is distributed to the dealers. However, when reading the WIS article associated with the number above, it only will update ECE versions. Let me see what I can locate. You can also contact your local dealer as each one receives one or more of these Software Update discs to update customer cars when in for service. You must consider though how many dealers were around in 2000, and the likelihood they have not misplaced it or purged their old unused media by now.
