Hi, i have the older 10 year old HP 6730b and in the bios there is NO update option, only reset back to default. i even tried loading the bios file in windows but it just said finished? didnt go to a app or anything?? Laptop starts normally to windows but i had that 501 error at start and just reset bios to factory and that cleared that but still cant find any place to update the bios to latest. All settings in the bios seem to be on "change" and i even took battery out to reset in case a security lock is on somewhere. My other laptop from same age 4530s has a update line with the bios section, so is the 6730b locked out from bios updates or is the chip faulty or locked out in some way?? Otherwise its working and booting ok . i also tried Win+B and Win +V with Power button but that didnt do anything Thanks

Is there a way to upgrade the M3970am(Angelica) Rev.1.2 Bios to 8?..the best I upgrade I had found for this specific Mobo was 7.13 Bios April/2012. I know this is a super out dated Mobo but I just need the Bios top be 8 not 7 to use a GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5 Graphic card. Can a MoBo be updated past it's last bios update? It depends on what the BIOS update was for. In general, I would look at the description of a BIOS update, and see if anything listed in the description or notes applies to an issue I have been having. If not, I will often hold off on a BIOS update, for a time. This is because any interruption of a BIOS update can be catastrophic, so I tend to only update if the update is absolutely needed, either as a fix for an existing issue, or for security reasons. If you intend to upgrade your operating system to a newer version, you should install any BIOS update first. This is because often an update cannot be installed later, as often an installer looks for your operating system version.

It's the weirdest thing. Last night, after 2 hours of nothing, (no heat/case was cold to the touch) so I turned it off. This morning it wouldn't come on. Short panic..then I decided to remove the a/c plug from the back, waited a minute, then plugged it back in. I then turned it on, and it loaded up, no problem. I went to the HP Support Assistant to see if the update bios message was still there, but it isn't. I don't know if it updated, but the computer is working perfectly. If you have any idea...what possibly took place? P.S. Thank you for replying so promptly this morning. I appreciate it!
