The downside though, the motherboard will only support a maximum of 8 gb DDR2 memory. (2x4gb) I did the same to mine, but ended up scrapping it and saving the CPU for another project. T9900 was a great chip, but theres much faster stuff paired with faster northbridges out there nowadays. Great video!
Great video. I have done this many times over the years. Several friends of mine are still running 1545s with T9x00 processors that I installed. My wife and I are running them under Linux with the E8435, the 3.06 GHz model C2D sold to Apple. I've got one with an SSD, the E8435, 6GB of RAM, and even a 900p screen upgrade.
Great job! I love this laptop! I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running fine with: BIOS A14, Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.80 GHz, 4GB Ram (I intend to upgrade it to 8 GB), 2 SSD 240 GB (I've removed the DVD), Windows 11 Home 23H2. After upgrade a BIOS, it'S recommended to go to System Setup and click Restore Settings or Load Defaults and then save changes and exit. Congratulations!
Hi my friend! I'm Raúl Pérez...I'm looking for more information about Dell 1545 y I just find you channel and this video! Thanks for this information!!
I have to upgrade mine with t9900 as I want to install docker which cna only be installed on machines supporting virtualization. My current processor is t6600 . Any thoughts?
they have not changed much . some are pretty crazy with the processor soldered to the board and unable to upgrade . And the new ones have the battery inside the laptop so you have to take them apart just to change it . So like a Bic lighter folks toss them away and buy a new one . Thanks Harold !
Was there an actual increase in performance worth the $60+ to get a t9900? Compared to just getting an SSD put in it? My 1545 already has 4gb of RAM in it. I saw that upgrading to 8gb didn't seem to help much for some youtubers??
I upgraded mine from T4200 to P8800, some performance boost and it is very quiet. My fan doesn't turn on very often now. SSD is very help, and 8gb is way too expensive.
Why did it take Dell so long to design an easier access to the CPU. The older models make you take anything that can be removed (including a keyboard with a way too short ribbon cable) out to get at the CPU.
You would need a Windows 10 disk or Thumb drive with the key. a SSD drive to install prior to installing win 10. You may want to max the ram out to 8GB as well .. Very easy upgrades & it will be better than some new computers .. Thanks !
@@shawnmrfixitlee6478 @ShawnMrFixitlee Thanks for your reply! Dell is not offering any BIOS updates for my laptop. I cannot find viable link to either A14 or A15. So that's why I am hesitant to switch it out without finding someone like yourself who was able to do it with A13. You rock thanks for the vote of confidence. Are you running a version of Windows 10? Just fyi...I already replaced original hard drive with Samsung 870 QVO SATA III 2.5" SSD 2TB (MZ-77Q2T0B) and upgraded ram to 8 gb ((2 x 4GB) PC2-6400 DDR2-800 SoDIMM ) and I'm running Windows 10 Pro. When I first upgraded OS from WIN 7 to 10 ran sooooooooooo slow!!! Internal SSD upgrade saved this laptop from scrap pile. So naturally wanted to upgrade everything I possibly can. Anyway, tmi I'm sure :) thanks again for your response! Gonna go for it...I'll let you know how it turned out later. Have a great day!
@@shawnmrfixitlee6478Last night after work, I switched out original processor for P9700, computer still running on A13 BIOS. Computer perked right up, start up definitely faster! Got to sign in, put in my pin and moments later it just seized. So removed power cord and battery momentarily and rebooted. Running just fine. System recognized new processor...YAY! THANK YOU AGAIN!!
No only Duo core up to T9900 3.06 ..Better core tech then is in the SUPPOSED quad core ... Mine is epic fast and never crashes /Freezes .. Not a game rig ! but for everyday life and multi tasks it ROCKS !! Thanks for asking..
A diferença de desempenho entre o t9900 e t9800/t9700/t9600 é pequena, mas a diferença de preço é grande. Estou pensando no t9600. A principal diferença entre esses processadores é o clock e o cache
@@shawnmrfixitlee6478 Sorry what I wanted to know is if you got to update the bios or still with the A13 version, because the A14 version comes out an error when installing and is not available on the Dell website. And can I put the t9900 with the A13 bios version?
No sir , Wrong chipset you can go a T9900 it is 2 core and 3.06 in speed . I like mine !
