Hello. I saw the video well. Recently, due to a turbo failure, the cartridge was replaced and rebuilt. The reason I think is that there was a bad whistling noise before the turbo breakdown, so I went to the repair shop and heard that the oil seperater was broken, and there was no problem for 2 days after replacing the oil seperater. It. I am wondering if the cause above is the cause of clogging of foreign substances in the oil or another reason. Also, what effect product sold on site? Turbine protection is possible, please answer if this is the same case as mine or another problem.
They have had multiple revisions on the oil screen but all of them have the same issue. Later revisions are definitely better but still have issues overtime. From what I have seen in forums doing oil changes on the dot and keeping up on maintenance perfectly can extend the lifespan of the oil screen greatly. Either this kit or the JH motors kit have been the two options I've seen that truly fix/make it easier to address the issue. I just got a 2015 Audi S6 with 50k miles 3 weeks ago and am going to be doing the JH kit after another 10-15k miles
I am not sure this is the right solution of this problem. The filter housing seems to be plastic. How many heat cycle need to weaken the plastic material and break it? The consequences are more serious than a clogged filter: you loose your car because of the engine fire instead of loose your turbos only. The most reliable and still cheapest solution is to remove the filter and change the oil in 7k km with general drive style. I just only hope Audi is not using this filter to decrease the oil pressure of the turbos. If this is the case than removing the filter will damage the turbo seals sooner or later. It is a f..cked upcdesign.
The screen is actually used in conjunction with a check valve. When under normal driving load all oil goes through the screen. In high load situations, the amount of oil pressure will trigger the check valve and allow oil to bypass the screen. The issue is that if the screen is blocked your turbos will blow under normal use, not just high load :( Many people have done the service and put a dummy screen in place of the original to bypass the screen, other people go with a kit similar to this or the relocator kit from JH motors
