I noticed today that there was a new firmware on the Tascam site for my DP32SD. I decided that would be a good video to make on how to upgrade your firmware.

Hanover! Great team great league too the bundesliga one of if not the best league in the world. One question, if you don't mind, you would happen to know the maximum gb SD card you can use at one time. I've heard it's 32gb? Before I go and buy and SD card that too big. 60gb or 80gb would be more convenient. Thanks again. 🍀👍

@@corytrevor9180 On the DP24/32 the biggest you can get is 32Gigs. The Model 12/16/24's can go much higher. I think the one that I'm using at the moment has a 64 Gig card in it.

Thanks! If you can find one, I do recommend getting one. They are a good machine. I personally like using a console instead of a computer because I like the feeling that I am in a studio instead of just in front of a screen.

Buy one it's an incredible value for the money and it's specifically made for recording with faders you can manually move to fine tune your mix for example.

Thank you! I'll have a go - spent ages recording a multi track song, sent it to my phone, sounds fine with headphones, but without, one vocal track is absent 🤔 Maybe the update will help. (Or could the SD card be faulty?))

Yeah, if the upgrade doesn't work then try a new SD card.

Hmmm... I downloaded dp_24sd_fw_v109 and got onto Tascam SD card, but - unzipped file version brought up message - "No File" and zipped file version - "error product" (When turning on Tascam, Something like - "verl 05 0017" shows v briefly - don't know if that's relevant!)

@@davidrobinson7368 Do you have the DP24SD or the older DP24? You might have to look in the discontinued section on the website and find that. I'll look at mine later today and see what mine shows.

Hey, was wondering if you know the brand of USB chord you were using? I bought a chord to update my Tascam, but it doesn't seem to be working.

I just bought "AGVEE 2 Pack 10ft USB-C to Mini USB Cable, Braided Durable Mini-B 5-Pin to Type-C" last month because someone in my house took my original cable that I was using. It is working well for me. The DP24/32 has a Mini-B connection so that's what you'll need to find. Not sure if you need a large USB-A or you can do a USB-C like I did.

Wouldn't work for me but dumping the update to the sd card did work. Hold(&keep holding) mute & undo/redo buttons turn power back on & it ask if you want to update.

Did anyone who pulled the DD card get two version of the file when turning it back on? The only difference in name is the top one started with a "._" (no quotations) But Mike's file didn't have those, and there's a version on mine that doesn't have those, but it highlighted the one with period underscore first, like that's what it selected. Which one should I use?

I have the same issue... and I've gotta do this sans cord. This had been a lot of bullshit just to listen to an original drum track that I'm probably redoing anyway. 😅😅😅

Hi thanks for these great tutorials on the tascam. Dp32sd. I have one question before I buy one . Can you copy a track to itself. Eg I'm not the greatest musician so if I do a good take at the beginning of a track.. Can I copy it further up the track if that makes sense. I'm currently working with a boss br 600 and you can do it on this machine but it's time to upgrade methinks. Once again thanks for these videos there gonna come in handy for when I get mine. 👍👍👍👍

Thanks for the kind words! I'm going to see if I understand your question, you want to take a section of the track and copy and insert it further up the track. I have never done it myself, but I think it is possible. I have copied and inserted on a different track before. I did a video on looping showing this. I don't see why you couldn't do it.

Hey! Just got a Tascam DP 24 used and when I plug in a mic or instrument cable, I get no meter or response at all. I’ve assigned the track correctly and everything. Do you think updating firmware could help? Thanks!

It's a good idea to upgrade your firmware anyways. Have to hit the RECORD button for the tracks that you've assigned? You should here it then.

I’m having trouble updating the firmware. I’ve been trying all day lol I went on Tascams website and downloaded the latest version but when I go to drop it into the utility folder on the Tascam, it won’t let me. It’s driving me insane. You know what I’m doing wrong? Thanks for responding! I just want to get to recording lol

On your computer, when you dragged over the download to Utility, it accepted it, I have a Mac and it won’t accept it for some reason. Is there a way to convert it so it accepts the file?

@@rickyhughes93 I don't own any apple products so I'm not sure what the problem is. You should be able to check the version # of your DP system when you turn it on. It may already be up to date. Also, are you using the correct firmware. There is a DP24 and 32 version, which both have CD players and then there is the newer SD version. That might be causing an issue too.

Generally the updates have a file with all the fixes included

@@johnmartin5153 Ok, so let's go through the steps: 1. DP24/32 and Computer are connected by the USB cable. 2. On the DP -> click the MENU button and select the USB icon. 3. Once in the USB window, select YES 4. The computer should get a new drive called something like DP-32SD (might be different for you). 5. In that drive is the UTILITY directory, this is where you'd copy the firmware. If you aren't getting a drive, then maybe try a different USB cable or if you can plug the SD card into the computer.

@@MikeFoerster I got it figured out , thank you so much for your help! my file error alert I was getting is gone now. I thought i lost all my recordings. Im back in buisness now. Have you ever hooked send 2 into a rack compressor and then back into the tascam assigned to the stereo bus? Im gonna give that a try tomorow . My goal is to apply it to a final mixdown.

Hi. I was going to do the latest update on my dp24sd. Do you know if the music on my sd card will be removed, or harmed in any way while doing this? Should I/can I remove sd card during the update???

No. Don't remove the SD card at any time the system is on. The upgrade won't delete any files.

If you aren't having issues, then I wouldn't worry. I do believe that you should, but that is because I'm a developer and I know that they do fix things, even if you don't have an issues.

Be sure to apply the Firmware update specific to YOUR model. There are different firmware updates for DP24, DP32, DP23SD, DP32SD. The different updates are not compatible.

Mainly the number of tracks. The 32 can switch stereo tracks to mono. The 24 can't, but the 24 has 12 mono tracks and the 32 has 8.

I think you should be able to use the Tablet to copy the file. My only question is if the Tablet would put it's own directories onto the card.

@@MikeFoerster I don't believe it did. The process was exactly the same as doing it on the pc. I connected the usb lead as you would do normally and copied the update file to the utility folder.

I'd check the power adapter, see if you can bring it to a music store and try a different one.

I am not going to update shit. I've never had good luck with firmware updates. I always have shit problems when everything was working fine before in updates. Not suggesting anyone ignore updates. I'm just saying I've had enough of fucking my shit up by letting it update.

I know how you feel, I've had bad luck too but that was years ago. I have done many updates without any problems. If you aren't having any problems then don't worry about it.
